@@rodrigosantillanabagaric i know, Sony did the SPC and they always delivered excellent soundprocessors. Even their own Playstation 1 had an amazing sound department.
Been saying this for 33 years. When I first hear the music from F-Zero, I was blown away!! Then heard this for the first time.... Simply amazing. Kept dying on this stage cause I was jamming!!
SNES music is amazing, especially if it says Konami on the game cartrage.... I'm a bassist myself; been playing for 6 years, and know every scale in every major/ minor key, and the patterns for all 7 modes e.g (Ionian= Major, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian= minor, and Locrian). and arpeggios..... but anyway the bassline in this composition kicks ass; I'm not in a band at the moment.... I'm looking for musicians to start a band with.
@gradius55 You know what? I would be hard pressed not to agree. While Genesis did have really good music (Sonic, Streets of Rage, ToeJam & Earl), SNES was on a whole other level. This clip of Axelay is proof of that.
Agreed. The SNES sound chip, thanks to Sony, was WAY ahead of it's time in 1991 when the system released. Yes, this track is a shining example of this.
Let's be honest, Round Vulcan is the best shmup weapon ever and one of the best weapons in gaming history in general. Who ever came up with the idea is a genius!
and the winner is GRADIUS55!!! I usedto hook my snes up to my super bass stereo and it drove my sisters batty. konami games the snes were the best period!!
Tralieb Colony: "This planet once contained an Illis Defense Forces research facility where new weapon development took place. After it was overrun by the Armada of Annihilation, the research facility was used to build an evil array of weaponry."
@gradius55 Gotta use what you can. The Genesis may have the inferior hardware, but in the right hands, it can produce some awesome music, too. "Castlevania Bloodlines" is all I need to say.
The Genesis could sound good in the right hands, mainly in the hands of Japanese developers. Now not all Japanese devs could make the MD soundchip sing well, but those that could, could make it sound pretty good. It's the western made games that give the Genesis it's bad rap in the sound department.
Ehhh nah, if you want a game equal of soundtrack, you go with another shmup, Thunder Force IV. TF 4 eats Golden Axe for lunch, and then spits out the bones.
Thumb up if you think the SNES Soundchip OWNS!!!!!!
only 2 likes after 7 years? (shocked)
@@bastiaan0741 21 now, I didn't find that person's post sooner. But I happen to agree with Kraftwerk2k6.
Soundchip made by Sony.

14 years later, yes :)
El mejor shooter de la historia...sencillamente una obra maestra!!!
Best music of the game
Yes, this and Unkai
Silence is awesome too. But yes, for me this is the best, too!
Axelay had the best music for any Super NES Game.
Too bad Konami never made a sequel to this game.
yup... 31 years later still no sequel...
@@KRAFTWERK2K6I don't care much about the game, I just love the music and they don't need to make a sequel to have good music in a game.
I would go for a draw with Mr Nutz.
actraiser, goemon and castlevania IV too! so many great memories
This music rocks but it pales in comparison to Plok, Waterworld, DKC2, FF6, EarthBound and Chrono Trigger
Excelente soundtrack, gráficos, gameplay Axelay destaca en todas las areas, criminalmente subvalorado
Each track matched so perfectly with each stage adding to the game’s build up towards the finale!
A true masterpiece from all angles!
Literally all angles, since this stage is a side scroller 😂
@@CrispyChins 🤪
the music is better not only because its on snes but the brilliant mind of the composer and instruments choices and sound engineering skills
This is film score quality music. Still can't keep a dry eye on how incredible this sounds.
The SNES Sound chip was way BEYOND it's time.

1:17-1:47: just awesome. There is something so compelling about this song. I can't believe it was composed for a video game.

Simply awesome.
12 years, no dislikes. I have faith in the world.
Level 2, Tralieb Colony. I AM COMING!!!!!!!!
The Tralieb Colony, ravaged by enemy forces...the music says "Be brave, despite the destruction"
I can hear the Round Vulcan and the Macro Missiles as I listen to this masterpiece.
Let's be honest, Round Vulcan is the best shmup weapon ever and one of the best weapons in gaming history in general. Who ever came up with the idea is a genius!
un peu tard c'est vrai, mais je suis la et j'aime toujour ce son,et dans les nouvelle production ,j'attend toujour, mais rien,la ça t'envoutée grave^^

Of all tracks this game offers, this is the one that stand out the most.
If you aren't listening to this with headphones, you are doing yourself a disservice.
You are right! The details of the drums especially is amazing!

This is the one.
Oooo been a while since I came back to this one. Axelay was one of my favorite SNES games and the OST is a big reason why.

Japanese developers tended to harvest the Genesis soundchip far better than western developers, seems they understood the hardware better.
non t'es pas le seul, ce morceau est excellent
exelente me encanta
I love it.
Many Latin language speakers here fan of the game? It's a Japanese game. Largely sold in the U.S.A.
Well I'm English and I've played it. and remembered it especially for the soundtrack.
Sold bucketloads in Europe.
@ElLoGGe colony and cosmos are my 2 top faves I actually like cosmos more than this one :p
Love this game so much❤

thanks bro
I wish we could have had Michael Jackson to dance to this song.
I remember this game, damn, it brings back memories.

@ryujinx2 t pas l'seul j'susi la moi aussi ! trop bon s'jeu ! xD
Indeed
Legal esse jogo.
David Wise, and the guy who created this soundtrack are awesome. xDD
Yeah, the SNES does indeed have some of the best music ever. xDD
David Wise? I thought Super Castlevania 4's Taro Kudo composed this music?
True - The Thunder Force series has good music.
@gradius55 the snes had a more 80s rock sound and the genesis sounded more like a .. well it only sounded bad.. if you ask me.

La musica de este juego es espectacular pero en mi opinion el soundtrack de Golden Axe para Sega Genesis se lo come vivo.
