  • Enjoy this vintage footage prodived to me by longtime FWB resident Debbie Wilson Rontey. In it you will see Santa Claus parachute into the old Fort Walton Square, aerial footage of the Gulf of Mexico and Choctawhatchee Bay, Water-ski shows, Billy Bowlegs festivities, and scenes near the Destin Bridge and Harbor. The film ends with the 1969-70 Choctawhatchee StyleMarchers performing in what looks to be Niceville Stadium. The editing of the footage, as well as the selection and insertion of music, was done by yours truly: Gareth Stearns. The song is from the movie "East of Eden," and the composer is Lee Holdridge. Enjoy!!!

Thanks for posting a great video that brought back a lot of fun memories for me. My dad was stationed at Eglin AFB from 1958-1965 and those were some of the best times of my life. The music fit the footage perfectly.

The footage of the Choctawhatchee Style Marchers was from 1969/1970 and was filmed at Niceville HS stadium. I was in the Drum corps and that was the first year that the Drum corps wore the white uniforms.

The vessel between 2:09 and 2:17 is none other than the former Coast Guard 83-foot wooden patrol boat WPB-83499, turned fishing vessel "Pandora".
