Whether you find yourself holding on to both railings as you drag yourself up a flight of stairs, or you're barely able to raise your arms up over your head to brush your hair, or even worse you find yourself trying to hold on to anything as you lower yourself down to a toilet seat, the cause is always the same...muscle soreness. And even though we can try to tough it out and ignore the pain we feel while recovering from a difficult workout muscle soreness can really get in the way of our lives. When you're really sore not only do you become less functional with simple day-to-day tasks like sitting down and standing up but you also wind-up delaying you're next intense workout session because you need to take extra days off to fully recover. And this can definitely slow down your progress because training frequency or the amount of days per week that you can once again break down an already repaired muscle is a very important factor that contributes to your overall results. And Even if you do force yourself to exercise while your muscles are sore chances are very high that you won't be able to perform at a high intensity making it more difficult for you to progressively overload your workouts, once again slowing down your progress. So in today's video I want to go over the five best ways to relieve muscle soreness as fast as possible so you can get back to living your life without feeling like you're handicapped and so you can perform at your best during all your workouts. The first thing that most trainers and experts will tell you to do is to stretch the muscles you've worked immediately after your workout. This has been considered by many to be your first line of defense against soreness. And even though you definitely should stretch after every workout to keep your muscles from getting tighter over time and to prevent the risk of injury in the future, it turns out that stretching doesn't really help with soreness. A series of randomized studies suggest that whether you stretch your muscles before, after, or both before and after exercise, it doesn't produce clinically significant reductions in doms which stands for delayed-onset muscle soreness. Foam rolling on the other hand has been shown in studies to be a lot more beneficial so this is the first thing you'll want to do. Foam rolling is also know a self myofacial release and it essentially allows you to give yourself a massage. Most gyms have foam rollers and if your gym doesn't have one you can get one for very cheap off of amazon. But the 2 main goals of foam rolling is to stretch and loosen the fascia around your muscles, and to decrease the intensity of sore spots found around the muscles in order to move more freely. It'll result in decreased muscle and joint pain, increased circulation and improved mobility. But its important that you're doing it correctly for it to be effective. You'll want to start by rolling up and down the muscles that you just worked. Make sure you do this slowly. When you find sore spots, stop and just sit on those sore spots for 20 to 30 seconds before continuing. You want to do this gently using your hands to support your body weight to not put too much pressure on those spots. Some people make the mistake of finding the painful spots and sitting on them for 5 to 10 minutes at a time thinking that more is more. This is totally wrong as it can create further inflammation, 30 seconds at a time is really ...

But now in just 20 squats, when the pained kicked in i gave up 😞maybe now i am scared of experiencing that shit again... i am terrified about the leg days. But anyway trying to trick my mind.... Hoping that i will start enjoying the workout pain again.

I think its due to the 20 minute walk home afterwards or the fact I'm now older... maybe something to do with muscle memory.

I rarely get muscle soreness does that mean those days are the only days I performed well?
Is it good to workout when your sore does that mean you will get extra muscles like the muscle fibres are already weakened and broken down so if I do workout for the same muscle group during sore will I get more muscles because those muscle fibres are weak so if I hit them again they will easily be broken down so will it get give more muscle ?

@@imperia6368 muscle soreness comes from your tissues being damaged and rebuilding themselves. When you get sore, it’s important to heal your body with rest, but you can continue to work out when youre sore as long as you dont keep pushing yourself past your limit. Taking multiple days off will also not be good for your gains. And your english was fine!

When I was in my freshman year of highschool I didnt know that I should relax when being sore and decided to gun it out and increased my intensity every week, while being sore every single day. It was hard to get through the classes considering I could barely lift my pencil but I still ended up continuously going and increased reps and weight weekly and the soreness eventually went away within the month. My biceps abs and legs were made of steel by the end of 2 months of the continuous workout sessions, though im weary of going that intense again considering what he said in the video that it could lead to injury

Even though I’m not sore bc of a workout which is what this video demonstrates some of these tips really helped!

I was having so much leg/knee joints heaviness and aches after working out in the gym last week. I did everything, but nothing worked. After watching this video, i tried the cold 🥶 shower therapy today, i was screaming and laughing 😂🤣 at myself while freezing my body especially my legs ( which by the way hurts more with ice cold ❄️ water than the uppers body ) to dead. I did it for few seconds off and on and then turn on a little bit of not so warm water on to cool me down. And thank God 🙏, it worked! My legs and knee joints felt so much lighter, not heavy, pain free and I can move them freely unlike yesterday. I will be able to go to the gym tomorrow because this really helped bring back strength to my leg.

Muscle soreness is weakness leaving the body.
A proper body cooling followed by a warm shower works great.
Two hours later begin heat therapy. Invest in a good electric a heat blanket. Place it on your bed and bring the blanket and your bed to full temp. Next, cover up at least to your neck, no clothing the only thing between you and the blanket should be a light top sheet.
I cycle heat on heat off anywhere between 30 minutes to 1 1/2 hours over the course of 8-10 hours.
Next morning I’m fine and it helps avoid DOMS.

      It’s not easy,
It takes some planing and life adjustments.
Monday - Friday. On work nights I target 6-8 hours sleep/ heat time 8-10 hours on the weekends.
I do my workouts in the evening after work and dinner. I eat a high protein snack and shower at the gym. I drive 45 minutes home, then pretty much go right to bed. Since I drink a gallon of water in a 2-3 hour workout I’m up at least a couple times a night to take a leak. Although it’s not continuous a heat cycle figure it is at least 7 out of 8 hours is sleep and heat therapy.
I do try to get 8-10 hours sleep heat time on the weekend, when I’m not working my job so Thursday or Friday evening will be my heavy workout day and rest on the weekend 2 days

My short answer is listen to your body. It will tell you what works and what doesn’t.
If you operate well on only 6 hours you are well rested that’s fine; I don’t recommend less than 6 hours sleep per night. If you are accomplishing acceptable gains then follow that. Just keep a watchful eye and be ready to adjust as you need. Good luck and keep in touch.
