    I have a question. So lets say I have done a few splits and I can't have any more due to space. What can I do to keep my colonies from growing and swarming?

    I'm so sorry I missed the livestream last night. I was helping a friend pour honey, and the Honey pump was running, and I missed he notification. I ran to my phone and couldn't find the link to sign in. After watching this morning, I'm happy to say I took your advanced course and I remembered all of it! I already knew what you discussed and was relieved I didn't miss anything! You're a great teacher! Thanks again

    If you are lucky enough as i was last spring and see a swarm as it is happening , i sprayed swarm commander on a tree limb about 4 feet off the ground and the swarm immeadiatly landed where i sprayed it. It was a cool site to see. I was lucky and happened to be outside when this happened. Thank you David for the information, you are awesome for sharing all the information on RUclips it is Greatly appreaciated

    Can my hive swarm 2 times in 3 weeks? Or can a queen that swarmed go back to original hive? Im in ct and was hesitant to go into hive to inspect Because of cool days and un predictable weather at this time. Was able to catch both swarms not sure which one swarmed old hive or newswarmed hive. Ty love your videos!

    • @ME_MeAndMyBees
      @ME_MeAndMyBees Год назад

      Francie. . . Hive Tip:
      (More initially then ) back to Same promise. Same Apiary !
      Do a Split, may need a juggle on Box Equipment, [temporarily.]
      Know you said no more Bees please !?!
      (So borrow/ buy Cheap 'Correx Nuc Boxes' Split those Bees to STOP Swarming.)
      Wait until the 2nd box makes its own Queen, see her, and her lay pattern.
      Either:
      1) Keep her and mash the older original Queen (!) Tip : why waste a Queen (mashed) instead drop her into pure rubbing Alcohol (in a dark Glass Bottle) Add other Queens over time. Those fragrent (ex) RIP Queens becomes DIY Swarm Lure Juice !
      Or :
      2) Catch the unwanted Queen (Cage with attendants : maybe Sell her.) Or do you have a Bee Club 'Newbie'. Sell the unneeded on in that Correx Nuc with say x4 Frames to lessen population 'Swarm' status.
      Or once Swarm time passes. Choose which Queen is a 'keeper' and reunite those x2 Splits back as a x1 Hive using Newspaper method (!)
      (3) Some can Cage the Queen on an double Excluder Comb Frame : do IPM re VM levels. Remove Capped Brood / Freeze it, give to Chickens, or let Bees eat some icey (ex brood) protein ! :This reduces Brood so no Swarming as either she's 'held' in = less Population( !)
      Or freezing = less population too.
      Both result in Colony having less laid Brood so less need to get 'more hive' crazy situation.
      Does this make sense. . . 😎
      🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
      Happy Beekeeping 2023

    COFFEE TRICK!!! Watch the temperature! DO NOT BOIL!! Get the water hot, but not boiling (80-90 degrees Celsius) maybe 200 F? I use a French press for maximum flavour. Fill half and let it sit for 5 minutes then fill it and let rest maybe a minute. The trick is really in the temperature.

    Lol as usual I am running behind ! But there is a advantage of being late.. I can go back two or three times an listen what you said .. an I agree I am going to switch over to all screened bottom boards this year. Spring time is just a mess.. my brother Ron’s full screen bottoms year around but I think I’m going to make mine with a slide in board because sometimes we do see -20 below zero in Michigan.. But you brought up a very important subject. An I have a habit of leaving the 2 inch Styrofoam boxes on the hives too long. Usually once I see lots of movement in an out I remove them ( but depending on the next 30 day forecast) However!! You brought up a very good point that I had not thought about!!0.0 while the 2” Styrofoam cuts food consumption into half during the winter. I never thought about the heat loss from solar. An solar heat on the hives serves two purposes, and not only warms the hive, but also dries the moisture out quite the balancing act….. Thank you so much for the time you all take passing along your knowledge an help..

      Sure, but have to place it far away from the hive. Most people do not because we sell honey. Sometimes we let them clean out honey from equipment.

    • @ME_MeAndMyBees
      @ME_MeAndMyBees Год назад

      Get a good Bee Suit ! And, take Anti-Histamine Meds to stop that reaction (!) And do Bees Inspections slowly and carefully in your action or movement.
      Get a good Smoker or Water Mister Bottle. Keep Bees Calm.
      Or if its really bad : you need an Epi-Pen [Adrenaline]... don't get Bees. Maybe watch nature instead.
      Bees Sting dont bite ! However,
      Mozzies really bite me. When on Vacation. Yikes. . .
