    I have a set I purchased in 2015 and they are still fine. I did have some health issues in 2021 so they weren't ridden for a year, but that is still 8 years of riding.

      Now that is long timeframe! I guess not much km's been riden over those years?

      I am currently in process of making my Twinloc work again, or sending it for warranty too :D Thus, not much has left out of 2years warranty timeframe, and more or less everything which could go wrong - went wrong :D But can't complain much - 12k km on MTB is a number for things to start breaking out. What else you have sent already?! :D

    Hi tom, great video, how did you find you experience with race face? I am on the edge of ordering a raceface turbine r wheelset, but the bad reviews on it worry me. Raceface has lifetime warranty but still concerns me.. WDY? How is your experience so far with customer service/?

    • @tom10crafted
      @tom10crafted  Год назад

      Hey Alex, thanks! I do not have direct experience with customer service as parts were sent to distributor by the dealer. As for the wheels, R series seem to be reliable enough, but if you are leaning to this wheelset - probably it has some pros that others don't? Is it lifetime warranty?

    Hi tom. Since 3 months i am also a spark rc pro owner, and recently 1.500 km later i noticed a squeaky sound while pedaling. I brought the bike to the mechanic for a service and they replaced my bottom bracket because apparently it was damaged. All good after that. A few rides later the sound is back. I have the same cranks and i guess the sound comes from them, since it just appears when i pedal hard, but i honestly can‘t see any play on them as in your video. Do you think this could be a first sign of this issue? How was it with your cranks?

    • @tom10crafted
      @tom10crafted  Год назад +1

      Hey man, if there is no excessive play play from crankarms, it could be anything else. You could do few things like checking if sound changes when suspension is unlocked/locked, make sure rear wheel, cassette and derailleur hanger is tight - those would be spots to check!

    Well, I had pleasure (lol) to own RF Next R crankset, which is supposed to be the more rugged, trail oriented one and had issues. Obviously, the aluminum inserts debonded and developed some lateral play, which was getting progressively worse as time went. Sadly, before I figured everything out, the cranks were a few weeks out of warranty and RF customer service, unsurprisingly, denied my request to repair/change the faulty crankset and offered a slight discount for a new one. I'll never buy a RF product again in my lifetime and nor do I recommend these cranks to anyone - they are guaranteed to fail (I personally know at least 3 people who had to send the cranks for replacement or throw them away completely). Another issue on the side is the spindle diameter - it's 30 mm and most of the frames now come with PF92 bottom bracket, originally designed for Shimano 24 mm spindle. So, yeah, you guessed it - the bearing life is terrible. I fitted a RaceFace bottom bracket (another useless item in their catalogue) and barely got 1.5K kilometres out of it. If weight saving is the only (and I mean THE only) requirement, then go for them, I guess. If you expect any durability or longevity - best to avoid them from a mile.

    • @tom10crafted
      @tom10crafted  Год назад

      Now THAT comes as a surprise, as at least I expected.. That R line should be more robust :| So they offered discount to buy a new faulty piece - that sounds like a deal, hahaha! I can agree with BB longevity, or should it be said... Shortenity:) Changed once after 2k, and then it got busted after another 1k again (maybe it required some more attention and care, I don't know) - and surely enough in LTU there was no shop I could buy it off the shelves right away.
      So all in all - still waiting for my warranty replacement, second month already! :D

      I had the same problem with my Next SL cranks. They developed play and creak at the carbon/spindle interface after 3 years of XC riding. Race Face didn’t warranty since they were a few months out of the warranty period. I’m grateful my local shop helped me out since they realized these Race Face cranks have been such a problem. Now I specifically avoid Race Face.

      1. Has these cranks and think that “this isn’t gonna happen for me”. I been on that side already🤣

    Yeah race face keep selling those faulty cranks. Known issue. Ive ridden a lot with sram carbon cranks and never had ossues with them. They have good reputation. Not all sram product are good however.

    • @tom10crafted

      This makes me puzzled like... They had so many warranty replacements (at least based on how many videos are about this one) and it's still cheaper to give a new pair than a recall and fix the issue.

    • @TheAntoine191
      @TheAntoine191 Год назад +1

      @@tom10crafted my guess is it's cheaper that way because many people buy expensive bike but dont ride them so they dont run into issues. So you're better replacing those that break if the risk of injury is reasonable.
