Thanks Eric, this is really helpful! This was a good breakdown not only of these two ETF's but also a way to think about any ETF's that a person might want to add to their portfolio. Love this channel, keep up the great work!
Great stuff Eric! Appreciate you laying out your thought process when comparing these two. I'm liking TSM these days so I'm leaning more towards SMH. Thanks for all the great content on RUclips and Discord!
Your coverage of semis has been invaluable. Even having an EE deg I have learned so much from your work in the semi industry. Your research is spot on and thourough. The FUW conference video on Semiconductors was excellent. Worth watching multiple times. Alot more to come and I am looking fwd to it bro. Thank you.
Excellent video, excellent comparison. Know I'm understanding more semiconductors thanks to you Eric. Making life easier and more understandable in this new stock era
This seems like the worst period. Even the market are now very unpredictable. Started investing recently when the market prices were a bit high, today I am more than 60% down!.
Even with the right technique this days some investors will still make more than others. With the guidance of Trev tait mozingo I learnt nothing beats experience in the market..
I'm your new subscriber ,Love your content. Trev has already made a name for himself his reviews are exceptional I was able to grow an account close to a million, withdraw my gains right before the correction and now am buying again ..
I think I am going with SMH.. largely because the returns are a bit more.. I am worried about Geopolitical tensions between the US and China.. any ideas on how best to monitor.. and could SMH divest a bit from TSM over time?
great side by side quick comparison. I actually own some of both. I like having TSM in there, but also do understand the risk. But man, they are a pretty dang integral piece to the puzzle worldwide when it comes to semi conductor manufacturing.
semiconductor stocks are selling at nice discounts!. Buy and hold for 3 years and you' be very happy. These ETFs are exactly alike in performance and fee over time. Just a matter of preference.
Thanks for watching SOXQ is also a good one. Basically pick the one you like best based on the holdings. All 3 should do well and around the same over the long term. 👍
That works too. This was a request as many people don’t buy individual stocks in retirement (including me) plus many people use ETF cores for their taxable blueprints. Cheers!
Hi Tom, this video compares the largest two semiconductor ETFs. As I mention I’m the intro of the video, there are many semiconductor ETFs to consider. These have the largest AUM, and the video compares them. Cheers.
Hi Paul. This video specifically compares SMH to SOXX, the two largest semiconductor ETFs by AUM. As I mention in the video, there are several other semiconductor ETFs to explore. Cheers! 😃
It looks like with all the spaces semis are in . This fund even beats Qqq. And doesn’t look to be going anywhere . How about 50% dgrw 50% smh Interesting way to cover the market and growth with low growing yield
Hi Rob. The intent of this video is to compare the two largest semiconductor ETFs by AUM. There are definitely many other semi ETFs to consider. Cheers.
Do you recommend splitting equal amounts between soxx and smh for monthly dollar cost averaging over longer period of time? Semi-conductors is a multi-year investment theme?

Thanks Dan! I appreciate you!
Currently own a small position in SOXX. It ran so hard I haven’t added in a while but would like to own more if it. Thank you for the content
Thanks for watching and commenting! 🔥🙌🏻🔥

Thanks David! Both are great ETFs. It’s hard to go wrong. Thanks for the support!

Salute Eric ! keep up the great work!
🔥🙏🔥
Excellent video, excellent comparison. Know I'm understanding more semiconductors thanks to you Eric. Making life easier and more understandable in this new stock era
Thanks Cesar! 🔥
Great video Eric! I personally own SOXX due to the China geopolitical risk, but either way semis will do well in the long run.
Thanks Drew. Agree! 💎

Lol. I'm one of them. Not a pro though, started last year in all honesty wish I had known about him earlier.

I have seen frenvesting's video about him
🤡
I think I am going with SMH.. largely because the returns are a bit more.. I am worried about Geopolitical tensions between the US and China.. any ideas on how best to monitor.. and could SMH divest a bit from TSM over time?
Both are good. The concentrations could change with time. 👍
Thank you for responding.. I appreciate it.. I pull the trigger now.. :)

Great video Eric, interesting to see the comparison.
Thanks for watching! 🙏
Nice breakdown and comparison. I own SOXX but would consider SMH for indirect exposure to TSMC.
Thanks Blue! I appreciate the support!

Thanks VIP Finn. Great comment. I appreciate you! Hard to go wrong with either long term imo. Cheers!
Another insightful video!
Thank you very much! I’m glad it’s useful.
Thanks Eric and good afternoon sir!
Hello, how are you?
@@FiredUpWealth work grind! 3 weeks til Con Expo in Vegas.
I prefer SMH do to their exposure to ASML
I prefer SOXX but both are good 🙌🏻🔥
مرحبا صديقي هل تنصحني في smh عندي 100 الف دولار وارغب في الاستثمار في edf smh كم هي العوائد السنوية وهل يوجد فيه مخاطر اتمنى انك تجاوبني ، شكرا لك
The annual return will vary. I have a video that breaks down SMH vs SOXX. Here it is. 👇
Unveiling the Best ETF to Invest in 2023: SOXX or SMH?
ruclips.net/video/gS7C0ZnyOyM/видео.html
Any chance you could do a video of SOXQ? seems to have a much lower mer than either of these two. Albeit less well known.
Hi. The purpose of this video was to compare the 2 largest semiconductor ETFs, but there are many to choose from. Have a nice weekend.
semiconductor stocks are selling at nice discounts!. Buy and hold for 3 years and you' be very happy. These ETFs are exactly alike in performance and fee over time. Just a matter of preference.
🔥😎🔥 a great pick-and-shovel #AI play. What are your favorite semiconductor stocks?
could you do analysis again but include SOXQ .. great content
Thanks for watching SOXQ is also a good one. Basically pick the one you like best based on the holdings. All 3 should do well and around the same over the long term. 👍
How about, if I pick $SOXQ ?
Cheaper and lower expense ratio, same holding as SOXX .
Like the video says, there are plenty of semiconductor ETFs. This video breaks down the two largest for comparison: #SOXX and #SMH. Cheers!
lower expense ratio is definitely nice, it’s a little less liquid so the price fluctuates more. I like soxq but it does make me worried.
i really dont know what to do i sell soxx and buy soxq ?
Thank Eric...great breakdown...curious what your thoughts are on FSELX...my retirement account choices are limited.
Thanks Nick! I don’t know that one but if it’s holding the same stocks it should do well.
I’ll direct pick NVDA and TSM. ETF comes with some expense .
That works too. This was a request as many people don’t buy individual stocks in retirement (including me) plus many people use ETF cores for their taxable blueprints. Cheers!
@@FiredUpWealth makes sense
What about $XSD
Hi Tom, this video compares the largest two semiconductor ETFs. As I mention I’m the intro of the video, there are many semiconductor ETFs to consider. These have the largest AUM, and the video compares them. Cheers.
@@FiredUpWealth I think that the mix in XSD to holdings look much different, and I am already heavy with the individual names in $soxx and $smh
SOXQ for the penny pinchers, same gig though.
Hi Paul. This video specifically compares SMH to SOXX, the two largest semiconductor ETFs by AUM. As I mention in the video, there are several other semiconductor ETFs to explore. Cheers! 😃
SOXQ is almost the same as SOXX but expense ratio is 0.19
Yes, it has underperformed but another good option
It looks like with all the spaces semis are in . This fund even beats Qqq. And doesn’t look to be going anywhere . How about
50% dgrw
50% smh
Interesting way to cover the market and growth with low growing yield
If that suits your needs. It’s really up to the individual. I prefer SOXX over smh, but both are good. 👍
I now have SOXX in my Roth IRA and SMH in my individual portfolio. But to more important matters. You're a Falcons fan?? I share your pain...
Hi Jeff. Yes sir. 🙌🏻
Is there a reason you have SMH in individual portfolio and SOXX in Roth IRA?
I invested in SOXX over SMH now because SMH needs to rebalance its holdings (right now nvidia sits at 25%)
👍
Curve ball $SOXQ 0.19 ER and follows $SOXX
Hi Rob. The intent of this video is to compare the two largest semiconductor ETFs by AUM. There are definitely many other semi ETFs to consider. Cheers.
SMH down 50% in one day, you know why? I can' t find the reason.
Sounds like a glitch. SMH is flat today. $123.75 per share.
I hold both
Nice 👍
TSM or no TSM that is the question. And that’s a tough one
Yes sir, mostly, and it’s up to you.
But soxx also has TSM but less % than smh
SOXQ
Lots of them. I like SOXX 🙃
1 year later....
🌮
I toufht smh top company was nvidia with 20%
I have owned NVDA stock since 2017 and it’s 15% of my portfolio.
SOXX is to expensive
Not when we were buying or when the video was made 😃
Do you recommend splitting equal amounts between soxx and smh for monthly dollar cost averaging over longer period of time? Semi-conductors is a multi-year investment theme?
