I listened to this whole album in the right order. It really is a cinematic, epic record. They haven't sounded this well produced, raw, and cocaine fueled at the same time since Unto The Locusts (my favorite MH album) in my opinion. Great idea to do a concept album and still stick to your heavy, groovy roots. Well done, all!
Also, this might be the 2nd comeback of Machine Head! I have never heard of a band that has come back the way machine head has, twice!!

I love the album, but the only disappointing thing about it to me are the bonus tracks. While I do like Exteroception, I wish the song had vocals and there were so many single only tracks released that could have made it onto the album like: Is There Anybody Out There?, Circle the Drain, Do or Die, Stop the Bleeding and BulletProof

Man, this is such a great album! How I missed pressing play in a MFH album to enjoy only killer tracks without the need to skip any of them. Can't even pick which one is my favorite yet.
Songs are great but I miss the days of one single released before an album drops. Everyone releases half the bloody album before they drop it and the album instantly has skips because you’ve smashed half the songs that much that it kills the experience of getting the album.

Unto the Locust is pound for pound my fave MH album. I had BME when it was first released in 94....so that one will always be at the very top of my list also. OKAC is up there in the top 3 also. Unhallowed is a top 5 MH song for sure as is the opening track Slaughter the Martyr. I'm not sure how I would actually rank UtL, BME and the new album but all 3 are better than The Blackening imo.

Absolute masterpiece. It was mentioned by a few people that this album was going to be the Blackening 2. It's not the Blackening 2 by any stretch of the imagination, but give it time, it maybe about knock burn my eyes into number 3.

Amazing album.. I was definitely hooked the first time I heard it and I'll be listening to it for years to come.. But it's NOT the best album Machine Head ever made (like some people say).. The Blackening definitely is and always will be the best cuz it's really flawless and one of the absolute best albums in "Metal" history.. As for the second best Machine Head album, I still have to go with Unto The Locust but we'll see as time passes if this one is gona overcome that beast of an album or not
This is a strong album. It’s like a way more intense and focused version of Through The Ashes Of Empires. I don’t think it’s consistently mind-blowing like The Blackening or Burn My Eyes, but it’s definitely one of the best that they’ve done. Exceteroception and COTAOYH are masterpieces and by far the best songs on the album, and I think songs like that really show Machine Head’s talent. Bloodshot is another one of my favorites because parts of that song takes me right back to Burn My Eyes. I don’t like Kill Thy Enemies, I think it’s really boring and lazy and I see so much unladen potential to be better than it is. I really wish more than anything that Overdose and Assimilate were actual songs and not just interludes, but that’s just me. All the other tracks on the album are unique, because they each have their own vibe that makes them seem like they come from different Machine Head albums (Unhallowed sounds like Locust, The 1st track, No Gods No Masters, and My Hands Are Empty all sound like they’d be Bloodstone tracks), which I actually like. The album succeeds in all the ways Catharsis failed. These guys are back on track and ready to deliver solid material as before. I’d give it a solid 9/10 given how good Exceteroception is. Keep up the great work and keep doing what you’re doing with this formula, we the fans really like it!
