Sounds like the music u hear at the end when a good guy turns out to be evil
Toasted Fridge i now want to see this song played over a scene like that
evil morty, no?
Rintarou Tazaki now that u say so yes it does remind me of the evil morty theme in a way
Heel turn!
Toasted Fridge The beat sound very similar.
This is Alice In Chains with a nine inch nails kind of mood
I was actually thinking the sweater song
No this isn’t even close to AIC
@@UncleVenz metalhead moment
@@uncroppedsoop real.
This is like how 'pop punk' started as more melodic hardcore punk, this sounds like 'pop-grunge', more melodic grunge. Good job, you invented a genre, I'm gonna write some pop- grunge.
Lol “pop-grunge” is already a thing it’s called post-grunge, some bands much better than others in that genre hahaha
@@pearlspacejam8639 hate to break it to you but post and pop aren't the same word
@@uncroppedsoop he says the thing he's describing already exists, post-grunge = a more melodic grunge
Pop grunge was invented by nirvana
Living for the New Born Riff in the beginning!!
Krondo 17 so nice to see that I’m not the only one who noticed that!
Thought is was stockholm syndrome at first
I got abit of a Marilyn Manson vibe from this :D
Well since the Grunge era was over for a long time now, this is basically Post-Grunge!
Doesn't that mean everything is "post-grunge"?
Maybe main stream
A l t e r n a t i v e
Nah, you can steal do a type of grunge they did in the 90's but if a grunge song is more modernized then it's post grunge
Grunge era of the 90s may be gone but Grunge isn’t dead there is a lot of evil out there today but doesn’t mean there isn’t someone out there extremely talented that no one talks about that has as much musical spirit as the ones in grunge bands in the 90s.
Great song, but I think it would be more accurate to call this Dark Rock instead. You are a very melodic songwriter, but grunge is relatively minimalistic. The melody would be reserved for the vocals, leaving the instruments to carry the music in a raw fashion. I don't know, grunge without vocals doesn't seem right to me. You can't convey the bitter sarcasm that this type of music often has.
I still think this song is fantastic! Very moody and edgy. Keep at it Shady!
i always consider one of the guitars as a substitute for vocals in his songs
Thanks for the feedback, man! Judging by how this video goes in the next 48 hours, I will consider changing the title to that. Glad you enjoyed the song as well!
I felt like he conveyed the bitter sarcasm quite well. Knowing grunge provides context for the guitar vocal replacement to sound sarcastic.
I don't know, man. Soundgarden was called grunge and their songs were often more complex. In fact I'm not a fan of this "grunge" tag. Nirvana and Soundgarden are too different for instance.
The overall tone is too high quality for Grunge. Dark Rock isn't far off as it's very vampire-ish. It's Vamp Grunge...
More helpful title: how to make a late 90s Marilyn Manson song!
You got the nail! I felt I had heard something similar but couldn’t put my finger in it. The digital drums also add to that Manson pop grunge vibe.
The song reminds me the mix of Crossfade, NIN and 28 days later ost. Good music 👍
Yeah,I forgot about NIN and I had to listen to it after this video
You either made this for fun(its reslly good btw) or based off of a current mood so i just want to say i hope everything is alright and that i hope you're doing alright. You're awesome don't ever forget that :)
I think it'd be neat to have some sort of 'Main character theme' with your hero leitmotif.
Because I never seem to remember how it goes, it always blends into the evil leitmotif.
Think of that one part in Undertale (the song), it sounds very similar
I can wrist my slits to this
Herr Supermelon r/wooosh
Herr Supermelon He's meme-ing
Who would win?
Two slits or one wristy boi
Byrxn Jxmes Bilnxy r/woooosh
And hopefully burn to hell were we all belong
You just helped me find the style of music I want to write in😂. I'll be at Reading in 2027
See ya there buckaroo
I’ll be part of the 27 club by then
🐟
I was like "wait a minute, I heard this before!" It took me a while to realize it was the song playing at the end of "The Maybe Pile" video XD I really really like this dark grungy style, like I can picture a brooding character either walking through a quiet empty town at night or looking out of an apartment window. As always, another awesome song by an awesome dude! \m/
This is the main villains theme when he's first introduced to the heros and he walks away to spare them so they can entertain him later
How to: Make an Enemy Ambush/Panic theme
So like the opposite to the Heist/Getaway theme?
Corrin Flakes Basically. Dunno a good example, but like the enemy attacks the party out of nowhere.
Kozon Alias Thats actually a very good idea. I hope Shady considers it.
When the chorus kicks in that would be an perfect theme for handsome jack
Melodic doom seems fitting to me for the genre name
It might be me, but if this came up in a video game it wouldn't be too strange imo.
I can really picture this song playing for instance in a story midpoint when the MC's plans fail miserably and the villain mocks them for even trying.
It's kinda like when Light won against L in Death Note lol
I hear this and for some reason I'm getting Batman Beyond vibes
The Batman 2004 too...darker rock /grunge maybe lil bit gothy
Love your videos, man!
A Suggestion: "How to Make a Melodic Metal Song in X minutes or Less"
All of his songs are melodic, so metal would be melodic for him by default lol.
Ty Hender Yeah, that's true
@@ilokikoval not necessarily, he's done some very atonal shit before, he just seems to gravitate toward melodic composition, but he can do other stuff
Sounds like a darker highly suspect
Yeah indeed
ive been watching your channel for almost a year now and this still remains my favorite song you've written. fucking amazing
YOO this song totally fits the cloudy sky we have right now!
Wow, I can’t believe I heard the riff to my favorite Muse song in a grunge video! Awesome!
Wow,this is perfect for my mood!
I love this this song plays in a underground town called: Buarn ( burn)
I am actually really tempted to just invent lyrics to sing along to this as I’m listening. Just love the sound so much
This reminds me of Rick and Morty... I don't know why
Ouuuuhh, man, I REALLY loved this one! Its weird, but a lot of your songs don't only put a smile on my face, but also a certain scenario in my head. For this one, since its dark and dissonant, but also kinda heavy due to the electric beat, but in a futuristic way, it feels like a very emotional moment, but that strong and dangerous, that the whole scenario gets a lot of a dramatic vibe, which I really like.
My first impression contained three possible scenarios (sure, there's more, but this three came to my mind first):
1) The moment, in which the journey ends for one of the main party members in a very dangerous part of the story (if you know, what I mean), but in that a dramatic but also sad and emotional way, that some clean tones just wouldn't do enough, so the feelings (and so the music) just completely freaks out...
2) The general theme when a very powerful and futuristic non-friendly fraction is presented.
3) When there's a huge army of powerful enemies destroying a whole town with ease...
But whatever scenario you choose, its freakin epic! I really like the way you compose, I mean, while you make a lot of different styles of music, one can hear, that it is something you created; and thats a very good thing!
So keep on and thank you again for sharing your awesome ideas and skills with us!
PS: The pre-choral (12) was EPIC, totally loved it!
I feel like maybe you could make the beats a bit more quiet over the course of the verses, or at least make the leads louder. This is a pretty good song, though, and you definitely had the right idea when making it, I'd say.
I've been listening to this for the past few days on Spotify and have wondered what video it's from. Now I know! I absolutely love it. Sounds very akin to what you'd hear in a Silent Hill game in the beginning.
jesus christ this is highkey really good
i never closed the porn so fast
PD: tabs pls
I love your compositions, man. No matter what genre you do, your songs are always a hit with me. Keep up the good work!
The single best song you've released in a while.
Glad there's a video for this one now
I would LOVE if this were uploaded to your Spotify profile. Amazing piece!
Good job man :)
Has some serious Sixx AM vibes, fucking love it
Aw man, I love Sixx AM! Thanks a lot, buddy!
still one of my favorites
this is honestly one of my favorite tracks of yours. i don't know what exactly it is, but i absolutely love the atmosphere of it.
great job shady.
This shir got me into music. Ty shady cicada. still use the xpand!2 distorted kit to this day
Holy, man, I want these tabs
Funny thing is.. this guy makes it look so easy to write a song then when I pick up my guitar it’s like hit a wall 😂
Great tutorial, i was struglin in that "new song block", randomly found ur video and made a decent one in like 7-8 hours. Thank yoy dood.
too clean for a grunge song. technically also too complicated.
as mentioned below (or above, depends) more a M.Manson song. Catchy, you need to add vocals and the hit is there!
Phenomenal!! Killed it again brother :) Especially loved that octave melody
Yep I can definitely hear some inspiration from Facelift and Black Gives Way To Blue
It would for sure as far as Genre would be in either progressive rock or Alternative. Or both. Maybe Post-Alternative rock.
The introduction to the song was magnificent. I got a little bit of a chill. And the song overall is just magnificent in my opinion. If only I was a lyric writer.
I've never wanted to make music more than rn. Damn that was good 👍🔥💯
1. What tuning did you use?
2. What chords were used in the verse?
Did you knew?
Bro this was fire, I wish we could save the audio !!
Wait for drum beat to start
He’s on the ground, leaned over, sobbing on the floor. He has nowhere to turn to, no one to talk to, nothing to do. He’s hit rock bottom. He has ripped out the hearts of his loved ones and thrown it in the trash. He has severed the ties to his dearest. He didn’t mean to. He swears. He can’t control it. It’s that darkness in him. A peculiar sickness. One that everyone has. Maybe it’s the fear of dying, the fear of being hurt, or maybe the fear of nothing. No matter what it is, there’s an abyss. And now he’s dug himself deeper into this hole of misery. He’s tormented. It’s the internal agony. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK. He can’t stop it. It’s getting louder and more vicious. And now he’s clawing at his face. Tears roll down his cheeks. His mouth is closed, yet you can still hear him screaming. Chaos follows his shadow. His soul is calling out but nobody will ever hear him. He’s conflicted. He needs help, but doesn’t, but he’s not sure, but yet again he’s sick of his self hatred. The voice in his head mocks him for the failure he is, not just to others but himself. He feels his brain rotting. Whatever. Fuck it.
Sorry if it was cringe it’s late af and I’m tired n I typed it on my phone
The results feels more like "How to make a Nine Inch Nails song", and I like that
I wouldn't call this grunge. But it sounds ridiculously great regardless.
I absolutely love this song
This is actually a really great track man, some nice hard rock stuff! Greetings from Ireland 🙂
The genre may be a little inaccurate but: As always, this is a great sounding song.
Keep the good work up!
Actually really awesome! Sounds like something Fear before the march of flames would have put out! Also nice Muse riff in the beginning
This music is a God given gift. He loves you man
Impressive as always. You do never fail to make great works.
You are amazing dude. My favourite videos from you are your original anime Ops.
The thick 90s vibe
Yay, fuck. Damnit. This one is pretty damn good! Loved it! A perfect example of how to get a lot with very little. Beautiful!
The full song is awesome, and dark indeed
I was surprised to see that you could write a music like this but it's sound good !
how to grunge: POWER CHORDS.
This is cold AF
Good stuff! I don't sub to channels very often, but when I stumbled across your vid by chance, I was hooked! Sounds great; very melodic, yet dissonant and droning. All the stuff I listened to in high school...grunge/dark rock was always my favorite...keep up the great work brother!!
That said, I subbed so damn hard that RUclips needed a cigarette afterwards! 😂...I immediately unsubbed, just so I could have the satisfaction and endorphin rush of subbing again!
-Clicks video
-Hears new born
-Instant like
Now THAT is how music is done. Good on ya!
Wow this-this is incredible! wow just wow!
Really cool
Very nice and inspiring ideas although I would also consider this as more of a dark rock type of song.Only thing I didn't really like was the drums
Well, that was awesome, one of my favorites so far.
Not getting a grunge vibe from this, grunge is more chorus and distortion, 2 or 3 chord repeat and very punk/sabbath influenced. It sounds great and does have a very late 90's early 2000's shock rock vibe to it though. Awesome job.
This would make a great ending song for resident evil.
It is grunge. Its the Alice N Chains style of grunge. Instead of Nirvana's major chords it uses minor chords but still is produced the same and has the same low budget sound.
Damn... you killing it, I fucks with this, new sub👍
Dude these songs are so awesome how you do them. Where did you learn these techniques or are you just that damn creative!? And how long have you played guitar for?
This is more like "Spooky Level Theme", and yes, i loved it to.
that s some great stuff to hear.thanks shady again for this great effort of urs
Bruh ! 😳 this sounded amazing. How much do you charge to ghost write a grudge song
Your best song yet! I hope you do a follow-up, man. Awesome \m/
Do I hear a chord from Serve The Servants (Nirvana) here? 0:39
As alwaysi,AWESOME!!
This would fit so well in some mid 2000's flash animation music video lol!
Kinda like the twist dude xD
gonna try your advice, got more how to videos??
Quite sounds like Porcupine Tree. I love it !
That New Born riff at the start * - *
i really enjoyed this one. good job man
Any chance of teaching how to make a character theme? Not like battle, just a theme to represent the character, like Sidon, papyrus's non battle "nyeheheh" theme, or the great fairies.
Edit: unless I'm blind and you have a vid like this already that I just can't find
He can't make a video about that, it depends on the character.
That's really beautiful. Keep it up man
Yo I fuckin love grunge inspired stuff. Three Days Grace (everything with Adam Gontier), Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Chevelle, they’re all awesome. If I had to pick something, I’d call this Ambient Post-Grunge. Which I’m not trashing in any way cause Post-Grunge is the shit
great!
Groove metal pls
Turned out cool
Maaaaan love this!
Anyone know any bands that play music in a similar style as this? I’m in love with it atm
