    Because of the board is broken, does that usb port going to work?

    So here I have a diagnostic enigma for you master , a very weird random issue:
    I have a ultrabook (Acer S3-391) that works fine when the battery (internal) is inside the case but the battery connector is UNPLUGGED from the motherboard, if I plug the battery connector to the motherboard OR I completely remove the battery from the case, the laptop shows a random fault, sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesn't.
    There are 2 leds, one turns on only when the laptop is working, the other one when both psu and battery are plugged to the motherboard.
    Anyway thanks for your videos and for sharing your knowledge :D.

    USB port/s and Card Reader probably not working. You should have bought a replacement card p/no.: BA92-09691A E142 - looks like a common fault from the quantity sold.
    Like your videos in general with some good tips, but a bit sloppy in places.

      Just found this video and it was great as expected. As for this solution on the laptop, a customer comes in and says, "can you fix this? Agreement is made at a modest price that is good for the shop and the customer as it is very reasonable. In the time frame it takes to make any kind of repair, the total amount of what was agreed upon is at risk. You cannot fix this? Here is your laptop back, sorry and no money is made. If you go back to the customer and say I need a $10 part and it will be a couple of days, they so often just say, well I will come back if I need to. The sale and time is lost. Customers do not care if one of the USB ports has to have superglue put in it. The others work and they normally need just one. This is a case of I must find a reasonable solution as fast as possible and not restoring the device to perfect condition. Unless otherwise stated, the customer just wants their computer back and if it requires a USB to out of service, so what? It only costs 30$ or for their life to come back.

    Hi, good video. I have a Lenovo Z50-70 with onboard i7 and graphics chip. The laptop had a bad charge port, I repaired did all the updates, etc. Two days later the laptop does not power on. The battery is charging but the battery light is flickering after every 3 seconds. The laptop will only turn on if you reset the bios as you do. It will then load windows fully before switching off completely and refuse to boot until you reset the bios again. Checked ram and ram slots. Nothing seems to work. 20V D.C. Power is on all the power supplies there seems to be a short but unable to locate. Kindly could you advise what to check? Thanks

    the laptop was labeled as a no power device nothing was mentioned about sd card reader and usb ports and now it's powering on again so the main issue is fixed, as for usb ports and sd card reader issues they've been discovered after opening the device to fix the main problem of no power, the title of the video is clear. he can fix the whole board or order a new one but he has to fix what is given to him to fix

    Did try to troubleshoot a dead hp envy dm6. I discovered an overheating IC and in the course of taking some voltages , led came on and was very happy until one cap decided to produce smoke. I am hoping if I change the cap everything would be fine.

    • @pedrof.7821
      @pedrof.7821 6 лет назад

      Sometimes the IC is not the issue, but a powerline that connects to it that went faulty because of other components.
      Take a look to all interceptions that connect that IC and that Cap.
      Maybe you don't need to replace the cap (if ceramic). sometimes they are there just because of EMI

    Hi Sorin, Happy New Year, great to see you back, I have been sick for the last few days so only catching up on your video's now, brilliant as usual, a small question for you, if you're too busy dont worry. I have a faulty 4407A Mosfet on an Acer Computer, the chip is marked 4407A and beneath that there is another code that looks like GA4FBK, I have a replacement 4407A but the code beneath is different.BV9L28, is it safe to use that as a replacement and also what is the significance of the secondary code do you happen to know, I have searched on Google but just keep getting general Spec sheets for the 4077A , many thanks as usual Sorin, as i said dont worry if you dont have time to reply maybe one of your other subscribers may be able to help

    • @aragaoclaudio
      @aragaoclaudio 6 лет назад +1

      He checked all pins of the cable one by one, looking for the 3.3v that goes to the power button. When the button is pressed, it goes to ground and reads 0v while pressed.

    • @pedrof.7821
      @pedrof.7821 6 лет назад

      Commonly power button pin is 3.3V that when shorted to ground, turns the computer on.
      This doesn't mean you can short a 3.3V pin that you find elsewhere... Because that 3.3v is from the Super IO chip, pulled up by a resistor, only this particular 3.3v pin can be shorted.

    • @pedrof.7821
      @pedrof.7821 6 лет назад +1

      This tells me you might have a missing powerail, you have to search for it. Maybe you have an open mosfet on some powerrail or a short.
      So, put your probes on your GND and inductors, turn pc on and see the maximum voltage you can get from each one.
      If 0v, you already know what is missing.
      On modern CPUs, they recieve variable Vcore voltage (those ones with Turbo Boost Technology), this is generated by an intelligent IC, that receives a binary input from the super IO chip and creates a specific voltage (stimulating the mosfets at a specific PWM frequency) based on that binary.
      You also have this on the GPU chip, since it behaves the same way.
      Maybe one of your intelligent ICs is faulty as well, but search for open mosfets at first.
      When computer is on and the off again, this might be because the super IO chip detected something wrong with the power rails, since they have a specific time to respond and get operational.

    • @anno32

      Zubair MH maybe a shorted chipset

    • @pedrof.7821
      @pedrof.7821 6 лет назад

      I believe the chipset is faulty as said.
      You can always put a cooler on top of it, and try to search for other heating areas.
      Try to disconnect VCC from the chipset, that is tricky if you don't have a manual or boardview and try again.
      If short goes of, you know is from the chipset.
      If short still remains, it can still be because of the chipset since there are still things connected to it.
      Remove the bios battery as well, since its connected to it.

    • @zub14
      @zub14 6 лет назад

      its indeed very tricky since its an acer vn7-593g motherboard with an i7 7th generation and the schematics is not available online. I have disconnected all the coils near the chipset on the motherboard, still the chipset is heating. i think its quite difficult to do anything about it...

    • @pedrof.7821
      @pedrof.7821 6 лет назад

      Reballing a new chip is an option but you need special machines to do that properly.
      "vn7-593g" is what it says on the motherboard or this is just the model itself?
