  • If parenthood came with a GPS, it would mostly just say recalculating!
If you’re a first-time parent, moments of bliss with your newborn can at times turn into hours of frustration!
It’s already stressful to be a parent and if you have a fussy baby that won’t calm down or go to sleep, you can start to feel like you’re losing your mind.
Whether you’re trying to catch up with some emails, get work done, or simply busy taking care of your other child, you need a hands-free product.
In this video, we will be looking at bouncers, rockers, swings, and jumperoos.
There are two types of bouncers - manual and electronic ones.
Manual bouncers allow the baby to move around their arms and legs and realise in the process, that they can make the seat move on their own. This is great if you want to learn your little one from a young age to keep themselves busy or entertained.
Electronic bouncers however assist babies with making the seat move on their own. These bouncers typically have a vibration and music setting for calming or entertaining your little one.
Swings create the repetitive movement that a baby experiences in utero - thus a familiar sensation for them.
Swings tend to have multiple speeds and vibration or music settings. These products offer many options and are ideal for fussy babies or if you’re trying to get them to sleep.
Rockers are somewhat of a hybrid of a bouncer and swing.
You can rock your baby backward and forth with a simple touch. Just like bouncers, babies can move the seat by themselves and like swings, rockers mimic utero movements.
Most of these products also have a vibration or music setting to calm or entertain your child.
When baby gets a little bit older, they can be transferred to a jumperoo. These products help babies to develop eye and hand coordination.
Jumperoos are normally full of colourful and stimulating toys for ultimate entertainment and can play music that will enhance their auditory senses.
Do note that jumperoos should only be used when your baby is able to sit upright on their own. This is typically from 4 - 6 months of age.
As for bouncers, rockers, and swings, it can be difficult to choose which option to get when your baby arrives. Let’s compare them:
    • Bouncers are the most space-saving out of the 3. They are compact, portable, light, and preferred for colicky babies.
    • Swings tend to be bigger in size but because they are sturdy in design, they are strong. Due to the many speed and music settings, they offer more options for your baby than bouncers or rockers.
    • Rockers are smaller than swings but bigger than bouncers. Still, they are compact, portable, and have reclinable seats which some bouncers or swings lack. This can make a difference in terms of comfort for your baby.
With one of these hands-free products, you can finally get to basics such as taking a shower and doing your skincare routine or simply ticking off your to-do list and finally responding to all your emails!
You know what they say: happy baby, happy wife. Happy wife, happy life!
