We wanted to know “Can you cruise on a ferry?”
We saw online that DFDS, a ferry company offer a 2 night mini cruise from Newcastle, England to Amsterdam so we were intrigued.
Having cruised many times before would this be a let down?
Check out this video which is part 2 of our mini cruise to Amsterdam to find out the answers to the above and our overall review of this experience and how it compares to a cruise with a cruise line.
Come with us as we head off to explore Amsterdam and how night 2 onboard went for us.

I first sailed this route twenty years ago as a student, i also sailed Norway & Sweden a few times when there were still ferries. Its a shame there's only this route left now. The current ships are lovely examples of their type, especially for their age. You just need to remember that they are working ferries, not cruise ships. Great video.
We enjoyed what the ferry had to offer, we just would prefer a bigger or updated cabin.
Good comparison video guys! Was an interesting watch. Glad you enjoyed your mini ferry cruise! 👍🏻
Cheers! We would do it again but no bunk beds 😀
Hmmm. I've read that those hooks on top those buildings are for lifting furniture into the various apartments because the steps are so steep.
That would be a great help. Thank so much for watching 😀💙
This is an excellent crossing, the cabins can get quite warm though, whenever I board the first thing I do in the cabin is turn the ventilation in the cabin to the coldest possible setting.
We did the same but didn’t feel a difference 😂 Thanks for watching 👍
Going this weekend to try it. I’m sure I read something about checking the meal time I booked because of a time difference? Any info on this?
So as soon as you board the ship in the uk you set your watch one hour forward as the ship time is the time it is in Amsterdam. We simply booked dining at the port and when we got onboard booked our dining time. Hope you enjoy your mini cruise.
How long did it take getting through security and passport control once back in Newcastle ? Trying to work out what time to book train going back home .
For us when we arrived back in Newcastle it took around 15 minutes to get off the ferry and through passport control and we were back in the car.
Thanks
Can you take some food on board for snacks etc in cabin ? Or alcohol? Me n wife are going this weekend
We did have some snacks that we brought onboard. Alcohol is so cheap in the duty free shop so don’t pay supermarket prices, get it onboard.
@@travelwithjonnyandwill ok thank you for the reply
Whys everyone took their luggage with them?
We believe some people just did the crossing and transfer to city centre to then stay there. We were able to leave our luggage in our cabin.
Thank you, am heading Friday. Can't wait 😀
I’m currently on Voyager a proper cruise 😊
Hope you’re having a great time 👍
😂😂 I was on there in July not once did watching RUclips enter my mind 😂😂
@@swiftroamingfree6758 you are hilarious 😆
