Yes, I have shot that section of the RR multiple times, I just don’t enjoy chasing down there as much as the rest of the system because of the slow orders and the difficulty catching the train in the winding roads south of Howell. I hadn't even thought about including the freight house in a shot with the lake. Speed through Lake George has increased significantly with the welded rail.
that's the same speed that the tracks were rated for during the Ann Arbor Railroad days a speed of 35 MPH. Moving at a fast speed is 60 MPH this was not by any means fast! 35 MPH is City Speed Limits in most towns and its not the railroad that tells them how fast to go its the Towns that they go through!
Someone did a still shot like this, Richard Koenig I think, and I had to do it on video. Not terribly impressive on a small phone screen but pretty dope on a big tv. I was happy to see them back to normal speed through Lake George. Seems like the sand train era was last time I saw them move through at that speed.
