I have always been fascinated with transportation systems. I don't know if they do this now but I noticed years ago they would put the system in auto and it would automatically stop at the next stop and keep at the exact speed limit while doing it. I found that neat. You could always tell manual mode because the subway driver would always go a bit fast, hear the beep and then slow down.
I wish the US could have an actually modern metro train not just another 1980’s steel shell with a fancy front paneling. Compare this with Montreal’s Azure trains and this looks antiquated
Let's just hope these new trainsets don't have the obscenely uncomfortable seats like seemingly every new subway system rail cars in America. Got to experience those on the 7000 series of WMATA. Far less comfortable than the 1000-6000 series.
no the one is going to be the front of the train silver with vertical headlights for this train with a buzzing Kawasaki lower motors side of the train with no lines with seats green the interior with white led lighting
The problem is on the inside. Disgusting. The trains will be trashed within a week or two. They don't clean on weekends, and security is non-existent. You don't even have to pay to ride anymore; the gates are left open, and you can just walk in right in front of the employees. They don't care. Once, I was buying a ticket, and a girl loudly called me an idiot for paying. People smoke weed, drink alcohol, and drop their trash. I get it, it's the city, and there will be some of this. But after riding the full length of the Baltimore subway for 10 years, I can tell you it's worse than ever and it's attracting the worst. Cameras are useless, crime is up, rules are non-existent, and no one cares. In fact, employees sit in the booth and let it happen. I don't blame them when they don't have backup security. I'm sure their motivation is destroyed as well. I do want to say that the majority of the employees are extremely nice when you interact with them. It's not them, it's the system and management. I also want to note that I have had some fantastic conversations on the Baltimore Subway with a wide variety of extremely nice people, from a guy moving his home on a cart to Hopkins employees (which I see less of now). However, just leaving it open and free with zero concern? It's a sign that it's worse than ever from the top down.
First glance is a yellow R211 with straight slab sides instead of tapered.
I can't wait to see these and I hope they keep them clean and comfortable

It’s the color of MTA Maryland. They didn’t steal anything
Why are subway trains in the US so ugly, look like tin cans
Theyre made to resemble the old 50s era railcars. Also easier to clean and maintain without having to repaint everytime
Better looking than your stupid European narrow trains, get the heck out of here
Oh. I kinda like Baltimore’s old Metro Trains. This new one looks pretty nice too. I like UK’s Subway Cars too.
