If you cannot get custom alphas to generate subtools, load a spotlight file and generate one from default textures available. Then delete the subtool and load your custom spotlight file and try again. I was banging my head on this one and then decided to try a default to see if it worked. It did. Then using mine worked fine after that. 2021 version.
Michael, thank you for this great video. When you used spotlight to create geometry from the Pixologic alpha, it rounded all the 90 degree corners in the alpha. Any way to preserve the hard corners on your alpha?

Yes - Preferences > Spotlight > Snapshot Border Triangles (on) and Snapshot Retain Corners (High), and Snapshot detect corners (on)
