    I have been a Baptist preacher since 1988. I have ran into so many Pastors who take the view you mention in this video to disqualify others. I am divorced due to my wife leaving for another man, divorcing me and marring him. They say the divorce is my fault and hold it against me, but hold her blameless. This is the best teaching on divorce I have ever heard. Thank you brother Roy for taking an honest look at the scriptures and telling the truth. I really enjoy what you are doing here on youtube. I will keep you in my prayers.

      A lot of self-righteous Independent Baptist pull that garbage, as I was raised IB, but somehow seem to overlook the abandonment allowance that Paul talks about.

    My dear Brother, I have never heard this topic explained in such clear detail. Whenever it came up in corporate study or from the pulpit, it was “explained short and sweet” with limited scripture and men’s opinions. I never could get anything defining. I always felt I was left wanting more. Something didn’t add up. Thank you for clarifying this subject Biblically. You are a blessing. PTL!

    This is a much needed message. So many divorced people are ostracized in the church today. Divorced men cannot be deacons and divorced women cannot even help in the nursery because of the unforgivable stigma of divorce.

    • @maryseaman312
      @maryseaman312 3 дня назад

      I understand what Paul was saying in his letter to the Corinthians.
      However, church leaders act as though the unforgivable sin is divorce. How legalistic.
      I know that church leaders must account to God for what they teach. I know that they are under double discipline for their stances that are unrighteous. In this day when churches struggle to find qualified teachers and volunteers it has been interesting to watch as their "standards" get bent and misused, depending on their PERSONAL opinion above the Scriptures - - no discussion, nothing. They seem to do it with no twinge of conscience.
      When leadership decides that the BIGGEST reason for membership is for the right to "discipline" members, I do get a bit agitated.
      I cannot be too harsh with leadership. Almost every Baptist child grew up, knowing what Paul said about divorce. It is the church's stance; it is what the Bible says.
      I knew that when I got a divorce. I knew what the Bible says about divorce when I chose to re-marry. I informed my newly saved intended the reality of service in the church because of divorce. Nothing is too much of a surprise surrounding this issue because the Bible explains God's stance pretty clearly. I think it is not correct to look for loopholes in what the Bible says.
      Too often, I see the double standard being applied which precludes service in the church because of some extra curricular prejudices.
      The issue is settled for me (for my own personal accountability) by the fact that God has saved me and I am accountable to him for how I serve Him. I thank God that He sees service outside of the walls of a church building, as long as it is done as unto the Lord (and, is legal, moral, and ethical) I can serve, using the gifts and abilities He has given me. The church building is not the Kingdom of God.
      I have found that I can serve others without looking for any authority other than the Father. The positions inside the church building are not the only place God can use me. No sour grapes, here - - just dealing with reality.

      In my case, I couldn't be a photographer at church events because I was divorced and divorced means you are useless to society and forced into a life of lonliness and misery... kinda the opposite of that whole love, joy, and procreate thing that the very same preachers preach on in the very same week they make sure you know you're new place in the world as a useless divorced human that failed to force another human into compliance.

    Thank you so much for doing this video! I just spent forty something minutes in the new year 2025 listening to this very informative teaching. I could not sleep as I started to think about what you would be talking about in your video, so I got up anne went into the living room to listen. So glad I did, and I am very appreciative to the Lord God and to you. I've been afraid to think of ever loving again. In the book of proverbs, it says wives are a crown to their husbands. I was tossed out like yesterday's garbage. The Lord Jesus came and picked me up and has been taking care of me since.
    Happy blessed New Year to you, brother Roy!

I've listened to some of your videos before so I made the mistake of thinking you were one of those who tried to force others into believing the doctrine as you were trained to believe it. I've been married and divorced twice. I wasn't a believer for the first, but was saved before the second. However, the second wife was, in my opinion, not as saved as she professed. In fact, she was pretty evil. My interpretation of scriptures was that I was done. I've been living a celibate, extremely lonely life since then. I've been of the opinion that I must spend the rest of my life alone. Are you saying this may not be the case?

      1 Corinthians 7:2 KJV - Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.
      1 Corinthians 6:18 KJV - Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
      You're going to have to really pray and seek God on this for your own life, but one thing I've noticed is that Paul wanted believers to be married so that they would avoid fornication. One of the worst things is for someone to sin in this area because it is a sin against their own body. So then the question is what is the difference between marriage and fornication?

    • @oldschoolbiblebaptist

    So for example, if someone has been divorced a few times and has said that they "never want to get married again", but then they choose to "shack up" with someone else that has been divorced and say that they are now "married in their hearts", that is "marriage"? Even lost people today seem to purposely avoid legal marriage because they know that it's a commitment and other people don't truly view "boyfriend/girlfriend" as actually married when they aren't legally married.

    • @oldschoolbiblebaptist
      @oldschoolbiblebaptist  2 дня назад

      It is Biblically a marriage, but it is not obeying the laws of man and is therefore rebellion and a poor testimony. Kind of like being saved, but not going to church and living right.

    My ex wife divorced me eight years ago. I have been saved since early adulthood, and I sure that she was as well or I wouldn’t have married her. There was no adultery in our marriage. Anyway, she deserted me, but what if she was saved when she deserted me?

    • @oldschoolbiblebaptist

      I'm sorry but if you profess to love Christ you also love life and would never take one. There is evil out there that some cannot wrap their minds around. There are many who claim to be 'Christians' but they are not. Cognitive dissonance is a spell. Narcissism is a spell... just because they call themselves Christians and hold bible study doesn't mean that they are like Christ. Apolyo and apostasion have absolutely nothing to do with murder. Except... imagine how many evil people will contemplate murder for the sake of appearances in the holy building? Lot of that going on these days... murder, alternative lives, all sorts of mayhem is caused by RELIGION. We have to find a way to get away from religion, it's killing us!
