I've been visiting SD since 2018 (currently live in SF) and may be moving there later this year. The last couple visits, March and June of this year, I've found the Gaslamp District a bit more desolate, less activity, a bit more 'seedy'...is this a recent trend or just off weekends I happened to be visiting? Little Italy seems to be the place to be within the downtown area.
Lol you forgot to mention the homeless camps and druggies everywhere, the crime rate, the police who do nothing so learn to protect yourself, and don't go anywhere east of 10th Avenue. Pros: Little Italy is easily the only neighborhood I'd recommend downtown, though my current neighborhood of Cortez Hill is a great place for families because of its quiet, suburban vibe and park. "Nightlife" and "vibrancy" are still very close by.
100% 😂 I live 20 minutes from downtown but don’t venture down there much due to the homeless population. And no, Newsom isn’t going to change anything. To think he will is crazy.

Soo good!
Parking downtown is a nightmare. East Village is scary as hell.. The Gaslamp Quarter is dirty and over priced.

Many businesses went out of business during Covid in the Gaslamp District. Little Italy is definitely the new hotspot!

valid concern. Hopefully with the new bill that Gavin Newsome signed , it will clean up the streets.
