    That grass blowing looked like little birds flying. I remember that camp, Andy. Wasn’t there a long rock wall along that trail and everywhere that lovely grass!

    Curlew going daft like that means it’s got a fledged young one in the area.

    The voice you could hear was probably me, I walked past seal stones around that time talking to the camera.. Same idea as you Andy quiet with the football.... I ended up pitching just behind Chinese wall. Great vid and cracking footage of sunrise 🎉👍

    Since the re-wetting started with the blocking of old drains etc the cottongrass is self seeding allover now. I noticed today up near burbage lot's of big patches I've never seen before, it's fantastic. My hayfever was giving me some right gyp though...whether that was the cause I don't know but it's a joy to see it returning.

    Cracking video as always, though the conditions are a bit different to when I was on the edge path on Fri 28th ... driving rain, gail force winds, thick clag, but I wouldn't change it! 😅 Love your respect for the curlew too. So many people only care about themselves nowadays and moving to a new camping position so as not to disturb it was such a wonderful moment to watch. What a great attitude!

    Hi Andrew,lovely video mate,your one of the few people I’ve heard mention the seven minute crossing,I did it many years ago with an old walking friend,I remember that day timing ourselves just for the fun of it & we did it roughly in the time,Kinder does have a certain magic about it,again thank you & atb Colin P 👍.

    It's always a bit of a shock to the system taking that route up to the top of Kinder because personally i dont even get warmed up until i have been walking for a good hour an half. The other steep route up at the gate and fence line further up Grindsbrook Clough always feels easier to me after the extra walk in even though it's steeper. but then you have to double back to catch the crossing so its swings and roundabouts as they say 🤔. Nice Sunday night viewing 👌 Cheers Andy.

      i know which you mean but ive only ever come down that one..theres a camp spot beyond some rocks near the gate & fence there but ive noticed its getting bad for rubbish along with a few other popular spots.

    Never liked football, must be because as a boy brought up to be a Torquay United supporter 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 More into female mud wrestling! Had same issue with a Curlew in Peak District recently as well, they are relentless if you are near one of their nests. Great adventure Andy and by the way very good to show how water is something one should always consider when out in the National Parks. Can you source in dry hot weather, if not take it with you!

  • @ireneboston7953
    @ireneboston7953 2 месяца назад +1

    Super video, as always, Andy. Thanks for being careful around the Curlew. When their chicks hatch, they can walk pretty much straight away, so they're usually on the move pretty soon after hatching. So that noise the adult makes means you're near small young on the ground, not yet able to fly. So as long as you watch where you're putting your feet, you should be fine.

    • @AndrewBeavers
      @AndrewBeavers  Месяц назад +2

      yeah thought as much i knew there'd be chicks in the area so moved on til the curlew was happier..i really love to see the curlews up there so ill do all i can to encourage them.

  • @hikermikem8
    @hikermikem8 2 месяца назад +1

    For me the northern edge of Kinder plateu is better than the southern edge, but when it's really dry out you must know where the natural springs are or carry in your water.. Seal Stones is a great little quite area with plenty of pitching areas to be found. Football ? 🤣 ide rather be out wildcamping watching a film or watching the sunsetting 😁👍 great vid Andy..

    Nice to see you back in the Peaks Andy. I've only done the seven minute crossing once, and it wasn't the path at the top of Golden Clough, it was further east and ended right at the top of Blackden Brook. I'll have to look again!

    Hi Andrew love the videos you do just a quick question we are up in the peaks in October and was wondering what route you’d recommend to do for kinder scout preferably a circular route please cheers 👍🏻

    • @AndrewBeavers
      @AndrewBeavers  Месяц назад +1

      plenty circular routes to do tbh..depends on mileage you want to do..theres the full skyline 18 mile or so but bear in mind time as its easily an 8 to 10 hour route depending on you're ability & fitness..shorter routes are the classic grindsbrook route along to edale rocks then back down jacobs ladder & back along the valley..the nab & ringing roger along the edge past nether tor & upper tor & down past grindslow knoll..plenty to go at tbh.

      He gave himself a challenge and met it. He also is trying to change it up a bit. The same old thing becomes a drudgery no matter what it is, so he’s exploring ways to be creative and not keep doing the exact same thing every week. I respect that. And I’ve enjoyed most of them!
