    Bought my Traeger Pro 575 three years ago as a display model at a State Fair and let it sit in my garage until now. The Traeger guy didn't want to tear it down so gave a great deal and a boat load of accessories. Wasn't sure about this whole smoker thing. Thanks to your video and my appetite for ribs I just now did the seasoning. Tomorrow I'll give her a try. Thanks!

    Great video mate - I have a question - I done the prime auger in my 575 but mine loaded a lot more pellets in it, (I didn’t know at the time) done the rest of the steps then the damn thing caught alight, after research I understand the pellets caught fire in the auger as it was too loaded, any idea why it’s doing that? Should I just manually throw a few pellets in there then ignite and starts the steps there? I’m lost, cheers 👍🏾

    Thanks for the video. One question, why did temp get over 400 when your smoker was set at 350? I would expect it to be able to maintain much closer tolerance than that.

    • @patg14
      @patg14 2 года назад +1

      Mine went up to 365 when set at 350. Maybe to do with the height of the hood on the floo?

    • @Todd.T
      @Todd.T 2 года назад +5

      When you are heating the grill up it will overshoot. The grill is constantly stoking as the temp climbs. As soon as target is hit, it stops with the pellets, but it still is going to burn the extra it was dumping in to get the heat to rise. If you want to cook at 225 let the unit stabilize first and then it will remain around 225.
      When it comes to temps, most people make the big mistake thinking if a pellet grill sits at the same temp, it's the best thing. Nope. If you operate a stick burner, your getting different compounds off the wood because it has many different temperatures and levels of combustion off each stick. So if the underbelly of a stick has got flames hitting it and its beginning to heat the smoke level, wood scent, and smoke type is different than a stick that's fully black.
      I made sure my Lil Tex had a temp swing because down low produces smoke, up high produces sweet wood scent. If I went into the controls and set the P-mode to zero, the stability was there, but the flavor profile changes.
