    Nice review! I bought a Bixler 2 kit several years ago when I was first learning to fly, and had a ball with it. It's still airworthy, although I managed to rearrange the nose considerably due to beginner mistakes. It's interesting to see that Hobby King has modified the Bix2 in several areas... it has features that are different from my early one. Cheers!

    Probably the best bixler yet. Combines the floatiness of the 1 and the first Bix 2 with the more sporty aspects of the Bix 3. And they've fitted it with a silencer to reduce the normal bixler "drone." Good price too. What's not to like.

      I like this smaller version. Can really chuck it around. If only we had these when I was a lad and learning RC. I would have been out all day long during Summer flying this thing. So much fun for not a lot of money. Sorry to hear you've lost your flying field and hope you get another one lined up quickly. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

      Sad to hear that you lost your flying field, I don't have access to one, so the models that I fly have to be fairly slow to fly at the local park. There's plenty of planes that I would like but can't get because of lack of room to fly. The sky surfer I have is right at the maximum, I have to fly it close to stall speed in circles lol.

      Silencer, sounds the same as the V1, loud as it is. Thats what people want, a airplane, and its a pusher prop glider, mellow and relaxing, not a jet.

    Thanks for a nice clear and quick review of this outstanding foamy with a remodel in design. I really like the internal servos with a new rear belly hatch for access. Wish the wings had pre-installed hinges like the Bix3. I already have 2 bixlers, a 1.0 and 1.1. Do you think this model is worth buying? Why? Thanks. - Jim

      @@EssentialRC Thanks mate! This might be a silly question.....but....i have just bought some hot glue and a gun. Never used it before as i've always used epoxy. How long does hot glue typically take to set? Does it give you a decent working time? Cheers.

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  4 года назад +1

      @@jimbojones2457 Is that what they advised for putting it together? Not my first choice personally. I use UHU-POR when gluing together large surfaces of EPO foam. Hot glue doesn't allow much time to put joints together. A small number of seconds for it to cool and it can be very very messy to sort out if you get it wrong. UHU-POR has relatively slow curing time. Maybe 2 hours before it's properly cured.

    • @jimbojones2457
      @jimbojones2457 4 года назад

      @@EssentialRC oh ok thanks for the info! No one recommended it to me i just considered it an option. I might just stick to my epoxy then! Maybe a 15 minute one. I've never heard of Uhu-Por. I'll look it up. Thanks for the advice mate.

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  4 года назад

      I wouldn't use epoxy on foam either Jimbo. 2 Options. UHU-POR (slow cure time) or medium thickness cyano (super glue) after using a kicker spray on one of the surfaces you are bonding together. The kicker accelerates the curing process. Generates heat as well as part of the chemical reaction so don't get it on your hands if you do that route. The medium thickness cyano should NOT be foam safe variety with EPO foam that this model is made from.

    I still got my faithful Bixler 2 v.1, prefer the original one better. Its a glider, not an airplane, the motor is enough to push it around and climb until it cant be seen. The stock first version anemic motor gave you 20+ minutes of flying time.

    I have a vintage style plane, a KeilKraft/Ben Buckle Falcon in the loft that I intend to complete soon. I have an OS FS-60 open pushrod four-stroke diesel engine for it. I've never flown a RC aircraft. The model has only three controls; Elevators, Rudder and throttle, so only needs three channel radio. I'm wondering if the Bixler would be a suitable model for me to get used to RC flying, bearing in mind it has ailerons. What advice can you give me please?

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  6 лет назад

      It would be perfect Neil but I would advise you join your local RC flying club. There is no substitute for getting the help of other experienced RC pilots when learning. You will save a lot of money and progress quickly to being able to fly that Falcon. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

      never try to fly a combustion plane, cause it needs some sets you are not used to do. Same way, never try to fly a model plane above 1.5 Kg. Try a elapor plane like Bixler, it would be a good option.

    The ESC on my Bixler get so hot every time I fly it. In fact, the ESC has cut out a few time due to overheating. I have two Bixlers and they both do the same. Have you upgraded the engine or the ESC to get better performance?

    Very cool @Essential RC! Looking for buying it now on H-King. Your link shows a discounted model. Is this model (the green-white 1.1 EPO 1400mm) currently the newest version or is there a newer one? For example I found "H-King Bixler 2 EPO 1500mm (59") Glider PNP" on website. And if you have tips for using it as FPV I would be very pleased.

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  4 года назад +1

      This is the latest version. The version numbering they used did confuse everyone. FPV is straightforward. Find a camera/video transmitter/goggles combination that's in your budget.

    it's a great p bor a beginner, it would be even better with an Auto-pilot option, like Horizon hobby E-flite Apprentice.... Is there an option?!

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  6 лет назад

      I think you are referring to E-flite's SAFE technology Martin. You press the button and it brings the model to level orientation? Not something you see on these HobbyKing models obviously. Receiver is not included with HobbyKing models and the price is kept very low because of that. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  6 лет назад

      I just searched HK and I don't see one that does that. They have flight stabilisation but not the equivalent of SAFE built into a receiver. hobbyking.com/en_us/radio-servos/radios/all-receivers.html?brand=7867 Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

      Anyway, Bixler, great starter plane! 👍

    • @EssentialRC

      I don't think that would help a beginner Martin. Actually would be counter-productive. Beginners need to understand what the wind can do to a model. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
