  • Donner N-25 Mini MIDI Keyboard 25 Key MIDI Controller amzn.to/3EoCvuh
    Donner N-25 is literally THE CHEAPEST MIDI controller on Amazon. At $39.99, there's no other brand that offers anything at this price range. Despite the low price point, this keyboard still offers all of the essential functions for you to produce your beats on-the-go. Surprisingly, the keys not only feel and play good, it also has a lot of good actions! It's also velocity sensitive so you are not compromising anything! Personally, I found it easier to play on the Donner's keys than the keys on the famous AKAI MPK Mini MKII.
    Now when it comes to portability, Donner N-25 may not be as thin as the Korg nanoKEY, but the sacrifice is while worth it in my opinion because the button style "keys" on the nanoKEY are very hard to play. For me at least.
    If you're looking for a budget, on-the-go MIDI controller that you can just throw in your bag and go, this is definitely your go to.
    Donner also offers the following options:
    • Donner N-32 Mini MIDI Keyboard 32 Key MIDI Controller with Screen and Sequencer amzn.to/3Es64el
    • Donner N-49 Mini MIDI Keyboard 49 Key Full-Size MIDI Controller amzn.to/3Z3EuxB
    Other well known budget MIDI controllers:
    • AKAI Professional LPK25 amzn.to/3P51ebR
    • Korg nanoKEY2 amzn.to/3r5gjlN

    DOES THIS KEYBOARD PLAY ANY SOUND ON ITS OWN? CAN I PLUG IT INTO A SPEAKER?
    ======================================
    No and no. This is a MIDI keyboard. Generally speaking, MIDI keyboards do not have any capability to produce sound on its own because it's sole purpose is to play virtual instruments. With that said, a MIDI keyboard must be plugged it into a computer and run a software for it to make sound. Most commonly you'd use a MIDI keyboard with a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software like GarageBand, Logic Pro X, Pro Tool, Cubase or Ableton Live, etc.
    ======================================
    I WANT TO LEARN PIANO, CAN I LEARN ON THIS KEYBOARD?
    ======================================
    Can you cut a piece of 2x4 with a boxcutter? You probably can but it'll be a pain in the arse right? Same thing here. If your goal is to play the piano, you want to look for a "digital piano" or "electric keyboard" instead of a MIDI keyboard.
    ======================================
    DIGITAL PIANO vs. ELECTRIC KEYBOARD vs. MIDI KEYBOARD WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?!
    ======================================
    Digital piano and electric keyboard are the same thing, just different names. MIDI Keyboard on the other hand, is more of an interface than a piano. As mentioned in the previous question, MIDI keyboard does NOT play sound on its own and requires a computer and software to work. A digital piano or electric keyboard often have onboard speakers and have direct audio output so it can be played through a speaker without the need of a computer or software.
    ======================================
    IF I WANT TO PLAY A PIANO AND RECORD ON A COMPUTER, WILL I NEED BOTH?
    ======================================
    This is the neat part, you don't. So long you buy a MIDI compatible digital piano. Yes, most digital pianos are MIDI compatible either via a USB or a MIDI port. However, the reverse isn't true. A MIDI keyboard CANNOT be a digital piano but a digital piano CAN be a MIDI keyboard. So if your goal is to play the piano and you also want to use it as a MIDI keyboard to play virtual instruments on your GarageBand, just look for a MIDI compatible digital keyboard. Generally speaking, if the digital piano has a USB or MIDI port, it should be MIDI compatible.
    ======================================

    The thin keyboard is cute and sexy, and the tone is also pretty.

    I want to tell you where this thing is almost like a unicorn in what I need. I want controller that is just mini keys like this, no drum pads or faders to keep it small, some sort of mod wheel (joystick ok) but most importantly I want to connect to a hardware synth via midi out. I wanted something like the roland add on keyboard for their little classic synths (but it has not mod wheel functionality). This is the ONLY one I could find that fit all those specs. None of the competitors have midi out these days!! Will it work with the midi-out, who knows but if it does it will be worth its weight in gold LOL.

    Man, the Midi TRS out is a serious selling point. The next cheapest one that features (non-usb) midi out is the Novation Launchkey mk 3. 😮

      It does! This keyboard is velocity sensitive so you can control how hard/soft you hit the key! Honestly IDK if there's any MIDI keyboard out on the market that's not velocity sensitive cuz I don't even think that's considered functional lolol

      you have 1-9 numeric keys but no midi channel button... is it stuck on midi channel 1?
      not your fault .. just looking thru the user manuals before i buy anything.

      Mini size! But larger than the AKAI MPK mini. That's probably why it's much easier to play on these than the MPK (for me, as a fake pianist at least lol)

    sorry for the ignorance, does it have a speaker or only works as a virtual instrument in the pc

    • @Shredberry
      @Shredberry  10 месяцев назад

      There’s nothing to be sorry about a valid question. The answer is no. Most MIDI controllers, like this N25, are just a controller. It doesn’t do anything on its own so you must pair it with a software for it to work.
      However, there are electric pianos that can act as a MIDI controller so I see that confusing people lol Generally speaking, if the product is marketed as a “MIDI controller” then you can assume it doesn’t do anything on its own.

      @@Gabgonz. sorry just saw your response. No it doesn’t have aux output. It won’t work as a standalone instrument. You’ll need to search for an electric keyboard instead of a Midi keyboard if your goal is to play directly. Hope that helps! 😁

    • @Shredberry
      @Shredberry  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Gabgonz. Sorry i just saw your response. As far as I know, no MIDI keys have direct output to produce sound on its own because that's not what MIDI keys are made for. If your goal is to play piano, look for digital piano or electronic keyboard (It's the same thing, just different name. Most digital piano CAN be used as a MIDI keyboard if it has an USB or MIDI port, but not the other way around. Kinda confusing i know 😅 Basically, if it's marketed as MIDI keyboard, it likely won't produce sound on its own. And if it's a digital piano, it needs an USB/MIDI port to be used as a MIDI keyboard). An entry level digital piano on Amazon can be as cheap as sub $100 or low $100! This one called The ONE Smart piano is $150 with coupon and supports MIDI output. amzn.to/4blwkXa
