Thanks Stephanie..after we use fractioned coconut oil..can water be then added to it? How do we make an essential oil spray? Fractioned coconut oil + Essential oils + Distilled water? :)
Hi Mansi! Great question, thank you for asking it. It depends on what kind of spray you are making. Is it a room spray? Or a facial toner spray? And how long will you be using it for? I'm asking because I'll recommend different things based on usage. :-) Let me know.
Hi Alexandra, you can use the fractionated coconut oil to mix with the essential oils first, then add it to the water. Shake well before each use and you'll be good to go. :-)
Shaking well does not create an even emulsion (mixture of water an oil) and depending on the oil this could be dangerous. You would not want to get a whole blob of an essential oil that needs to be diluted prior to use. You need an emulsifying agent. Sorry but that is the only way and the safest way when using essential oils. You can mix essential oils with any oils. Actually jojoba (a liquid wax) is less comodogenic than coconut oil and more like our natural sebum.

You just wasted a few drops of a good and expensive oil to create an experiment that those old enough to be mixing essential oils should already know. 1. Oil and water do not mix, 2. oil and oil does mix and who cares about mixing essential oil with alcohol, the overpowering scent and drying effects of alcohol is not appealing. What you should teach is how one could really take advantage of essential oils when using a water solvent with the help of polysorbate 20 and or other emulsifying agents like it. Then they could make toners, linen sprays, body splashes, etc...I think your followers will love to see the many uses of EOs.
Dana BC Hi! Thanks for your feedback. None of the oil in this video was wasted. Maybe you assumed that I threw the mixtures away after? I did not. Also, it comes across as insulting to assume that everyone has an aromatherapy training or background. Many don’t truly understand what essential oils actually are. My clients aren’t aromatherapists, so no, they don’t realize that essential oil and water don’t mix. They also may not have the means or even want to invest in polysorbate, solubol, or other solvents for general usage around the home. I appreciate your comment and I assume you are trying to be helpful. Perhaps you can do your own video where you are targeting aromatherapists or even general oil users and recommend using other solvents?
