The harmonies are so much easier to hear at 1:00, the bass is so much clearer, and this is literally my favorite song from the Decca Auditions. Thank you, Deirdre!
@@deardre Well that’s good. Lisette even made a post about it not too long ago. You can check it out if you want if you’re interested because she’s actually really excited. Heck, I even sent it to you as well after watching it myself.
@@joanieclingan it’s the production. Everything sounds under par. The Beatles performance leaves a lot to be desired. George is the only one that rose to the occasion singing 5 of the 15 songs and playing fairly confidently throughout. Pete was an adequate drummer for the times but his monotonous rolls and uneven beat dragged the group down. When Ringo came in he fit and locked in with the band. I stated Pete’s drumming on this song is satisfactory. On the Sheridan sessions it’s only the snare and hi hat and it’s quite good. By the June ‘62 sessions it was below par and his ouster was the right call.

Just sayin, Pete Best was a horrible drummer and a very moody introvert. That’s why he was fired from the band. If only Paul and John had the guts to tell him that themselves.

And people ask why the other three chose Ringo...
Pete plays ok on this.
Sorry--I think this drumming sounds muffled and weak. I'm not a drummer, but it has absolutely no spark in my opinion.

Yet you weren't there, go figure, you're just parroting decades of a narrative. Yawn!

He only has one beat and a snare fill. Ringo was a lifetime ahead of him.
Nah... the guitar bands are over.
