  • The Easy Motion Neo Cross is a stiff, aggressive and light weight cross-style electric bike with torque sensing rear hub motor. Removable LCD computer interface is intuitive to use and doesn't get in the way when riding. Battery design requires removal for charging but looks great on bike and balances out weight front to rear.

    Hey Mr.court,i just went to e-bike store and ordered the Neo-cross.They have this 2013 model which has 9amp battery but salesman told me he can get a newer model(2014) one with 12 amp battery for extra($200)+$2699.00.Is there anyway i can tell its 12 amp battery not 9 amp.This is my first time buying electric bike and first time doing business with this store.And is this Neo-cross is a good choice?Thank you in advance.

      Your dealer is correct, some of the 2014 models come with a 12 amp hour batter instead of the 9 amp hour version from 2012/2013. It is the same size and is also backwards compatible, just higher energy density in the 18650 cells. Unfortunately I'm not sure how to tell the difference? It may be written on the battery pack when you take it off the bike. Look for 36 volts 12 amp hours. The older pack is still very good, maybe you can get a discount if they can't get the larger cell? The new one isn't more powerful, it will just last a little bit longer :)

      bulldozer1979 Sure thing! We were trying to figure this out ourselves recently in the forum. A couple of guys were considering discounted 2013 bikes and then the battery upgrade came up electricbikereview.com/community/threads/2014-easy-motion-neo-jumper-650b.47/#post-1130

    Hi there,can you tell me if this Neo cross is waterproof.what i mean is, if I ride this bike in a rainy day,will the battery and electronic display controller get wet or damage?Thank you very much.

      Great questions, I've ridden mine in the rain several times and not had an issue. The LCD computer has rubberized buttons and is sealed pretty well (plus, you could replace that one piece pretty easily if it did break). The battery pack is also well sealed and only has one connection point. The motor seems durable and all of the wiring for the bike is built into the frame so I think it's pretty well protected... That said, if it's raining hard I would use a clear plastic baggie to cover the LCD and I would also avoid submerging the hub motor and battery pack, you could also dry the bike off with a towel when you get home and maybe keep it parked inside so the water doesn't freeze. Hope this helps! Just my own experiences and thoughts, not professional advice as I don't work for the company and haven't subjected it to actual testing :)

    Good review....I own one & it is a blast to ride. Get more attention & positive comments than I get when ridin my Harley.The bike looks like a regular bike. Didn't want one with the battery on the rack, ugly with poor balance.. This bike is a piece of art....About 4 months ago, I paid $2400, out the door, which was about $500 below retail here in Southern California.

    Would you prefer this bike.....or the Specialized Turbo S?

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  10 лет назад +1

      Good question... I like the suspension fork on the Neo Cross bike but almost everything else is better on the Turbo. I'd go with the Specialized and get a suspension seat post. Suntour, Thudbuster and Body Float all have decent designs electricbikereview.com/community/search/102978/?q=suspension+seat+post

    hi, you can just accelerate with hand and go or you need pedal it?

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  9 лет назад

      Hi Handerson, sorry for the very delayed response here... Yes, you can use the twist throttle as well as pedal assist (if you get this bike in the USA). In Europe I believe it only comes with pedal assist and has a lower top speed.

  • @ElectricBikeReview
    @ElectricBikeReview  11 лет назад

    Maybe you could special order one from the United States? Ours have 350 watt motor with a top speed of 28mph (43.4kph) in pedal assist mode. Specialized and some other companies teamed up to petition that if riders can pedal that fast on a normal bike, they should be able to go that fast with pedal assist ;)

    I own a BH neo cross & its great in all areas!! smoothest ride/ power delivery is great with pedal assist/ if anything negative is that I want more power to go faster...I get it up to 30km/hr with pedal assist then the motor shuts off :(( legal regulations in Australia is 250watt 25kmhr how can we get more power out of a neo cross people :)) let me know cheers

    I have a 2012 model. It does ride well. For the money, you can do much better in terms of battery life buying a kit. My model has, I believe, a 9 amp hour battery. I can ride at standard support about 10 miles, or up to 25 on eco mode. It would be helpful to be able to go about 20 with standard support. I'd get a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery. I have had issues with the electronics. The control often does not connect well and can be frustrating in cutting out and/or taking multiple efforts to get it to work. Support has been good.

      Great feedback Brook, it sounds like your bike has been holding up well over the years but these older batteries were smaller (new ones are 12 amp hours) and all batteries lose range with time. I love the clean aesthetic of the Easy Motion Neo's but I didn't like leaving the battery on the bike, the new ones don't require that and are called the EVO Eco series.

      Brook Wiers Sounds like a 2013 model vs. 2012, I'm not sure Easy Motion was offering ebikes in the US back then to be honest (possibly through a distributor) but still sorry that the range isn't up to what you'd like. Lower assist saves the battery and the good news is that you can use one of the new 12 ah batteries with your bike (it's compatible) if you want longer range.

      Depending on the type of bike you have, I can go 12-15 mph on my heavier mountain bike (27 pounds), on my road bike I can go 15-21. It gets pretty tough going 18+mph. For comparison pro tour de france riders push 26+ mph

    I bought an eZee hub motor kit with a more powerful motor (now the standard is 500 watts motor compared to 350 watts) and the same 36V 9Ah Li-ion battery but it cost about 1/3 of what this thing does. And for range you really need two batteries which isn't possible with this thing (their web site claims 50 miles.... yeah, sure, if you weigh a buck o' five and ride flats or declines only!). Until I bought my second battery I suffered range anxiety, often prior to having to climb the heights of Metrotown, Burnaby, BC from sea level, usually in the dark of night.
    Pulled my 1980s high end MTB (very strong frame) out of the closet where it had been stored for 10 years and built my own bike to my specs with components of my chosing. I have added Magura hydraulic rim brakes which may be better than disc brakes (big debate). One could build two unique e-bikes for the cost of this thing. And the cool factor is much higher using a bike you have history with than dropping $3,000+ on something anyone could own.

      Sounds like an awesome setup! I agree that depending on your needs building an ebike will provide more power or cost savings than buying one. Still, I appreciate the convenience and clean aesthetic of something like the Easy Motion Neo ebikes with wires all integrated and a downtube battery plus warranty. Have you posted pictures of your bike anywhere? I'd love to check it out :D

    I guess one of the major drawbacks today with all the e-bikes is availability. If one company went global with retailers and bikes which regular bikeshops could service and repair I think it could get big. I better start a new company :) You just gotta find the perfect combination of style, range, maintenance, cost etc. So far this is my absolute favourite E-bike...and 12 amp-hours (the new model) is truly neat.

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  10 лет назад +1

      I completely agree, the Easy Motion electric bikes all look great, are easy to service and come in a variety of frame sizes and styles that still leverage the same battery design and control systems which keeps costs low. I also like what Currie Technologies is doing and am a fan of their new 2015 IZIP E3 Dash: electricbikereview.com/izip/e3-dash/

      Nichen I know right! It's neat to see them evolving and becoming so polished like this. I really like the new button pad on the 2015 Dash but also appreciate the removable display on the Easy Motion bikes. Decisions... decisions... ;)

    Hi" how far this can go on a single charge?

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  10 лет назад

      Hi Sherwin! The company estimates 25 to 40 miles but it really depends on your size, the terrain being ridden, the weather (windy??) and the mode of power you use (twist throttle of pedal assist). The bike will go a lot further if you pedal along and in my experience at least 20 miles can be expected :)

    • @cdnb3
      @cdnb3 10 лет назад +1

      Electric Bike Review Too many variables to claim how far. Most claims are made based on a 150 lb rider pedalling on flat, smooth terrain. But if you are over 200 lbs and going up hills the range drops significantly. These batteries drain big time when powering a typical big N.A. male up hills. And you have to pedal all of the time to get decent range.

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  10 лет назад

      cdnb3 Very true... range drops with rider weight, rough terrain, inclines and even wind. I've had the most luck with the Bosch mid-drive system for achieving 50+ miles but a bike like this Neo Cros usually gets closer to 30. I weigh about 135 but I think they rate their bikes with a 170 pound rider on flats just as you've suggested. SInce many people have < 10 miles to ride each day, as long as they charge at work it doesn't matter if there are hills etc. between. If the hills are really steep then pedaling along in assist mode is the best (perhaps only) wan to get up to the top without overheating the motor. On other bikes with 500+ watt motors you may not have to pedal or if you get something with the mid-drive or a high torque design like the Specialized Turbo: electricbikereview.com/specialized/turbo-s/

    the Mountain Wolf is much more advanced that the BH; the only negative thing about the Wolf is the price: close to 5.000€ compared with the 3.500€ of the BH but its quality is not as good as the Wolf Ebike from Siempre en Bici SL

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  10 лет назад

      Cool, I've never seen that ebike before. Looks like it uses a mid-drive motor? Looks efficient but also burley. I've used the Bosch system on Haibike and others, it's a bit louder than the hub motor on the Easy Motion bikes but works well for climbing.

      This was one of the best selling ebikes in 2014 (from what I can tell... was definitely the most popular at Easy Motion USA) but their 2015 model is even cooler. The battery is larger and easier to charge, the motor has a sturdier cable and quick release on the rear wheel! Check it out: electricbikereview.com/easy-motion/evo-cross/
