      I have family who live in Florida and they say the same thing. Disney World is the best place to be if you're in Florida at the time of a hurricane. Like this video says, you will be safe, and if you get those hurricane winds and heavy rains making them close the park, they will take care of you.

      And that's why Disney World's called the safest and happiest place on Earth. Not because of the rides. Because of what happens during hurricanes.

      Yep! And even if you get there "early" because you planned for an hour and it magically only took 20 min, well, take that time to look around! Explore and see what's there!! Especially at the resorts. SO much to see and experience other than dining!

    Anyone who needs a quiet place for any reason (mine is my anxiety and being as introverted as I am), every place in Disney has at least one or two quiet areas where not a lot of people go to. Don't be scared about looking for a place just to sit and chill while you mentally and physically recharge. They're usually places that aren't directly near attractions, stores, or anywhere that sells food so if you need to figure out where they are when you get in, pick up a map and take note of certain areas.

      For example, when I worked at Epcot, my FAVORITE place to just take a moment and get a breather was in the Morocco pavilion! There's a little museum that people overlook because it looks like part of the facade, or a closed shop. The inside is air conditioned and quiet! The whole time I worked at Epcot and took a moment in that museum, I only ever saw a few people in there charging their phones or quietly looking at the exhibit. Definitely a great place.

      I don’t know how much it’s changed since the renovation, but the cafe in Norway is EXCELLENT at night! Really pretty, dimly lit, and usually relatively quiet since most people are in the “alcohol” countries.
      Nooks in Frontierland/near the jungle cruise (walking through the treehouse is always nice!), animal kingdom is huge with tons of dead space nobody frequents. The only hard one is Hollywood, but I find the lines there (especially rock and roller coaster where only so many people fit) are the best slots.
      And in my experience... ICE CREAM MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER 😅

    Our son is on the autism spectrum, and one of his challenges is being incredibly limited in what he will eat. The tip in this video about finding food that meets our diet needs is VERY true! We always plan out meals carefully in advance, and always reach out to the restaurants in advance to ensure they will be able to meet his needs (usually as long as they can get chicken strips and fries, we are good). In short, our experiences have been very positive with Disney on this front, and this is actually part of the reason we choose to go back every year, as opposed to other vacation options!

    My mom has Celiac Disease (aka she can't have gluten) along with other dietary restrictions. Disney World is the only place where she can eat that she doesn't get sick. Every other restaurant we've been to she's gotten sick at least once from some cross contamination, but that's never happened in Disney. The food that she has is always delicious and the staff and chefs are always extremely accommodating and friendly. Like AJ said, they've won awards. something I was warned about a little, but found really shocking was how much time it takes to get anywhere and do anything. From park to park takes forever, the minivans are convenient, but don't count on them--they can take 20-30 minutes to even arrive. Monorail sounds great--but get in line and wait. Ditto the buses. Just getting into a park takes two lines and waiting... Have a dining reservation? You need to check in, and then you get to wait. So have a loose schedule or order to do things, but it has to be loose!

      @MattMcIrvin 5 лет назад +2

      It's true-- a major element of visiting Disney World, even/especially if you stay on property, is planning something that for all the world resembles a daily work commute. Much of this is because of the WDW property's bizarre giantism. (A major advantage of Universal Orlando over Disney is that it's much more compact, and if you stay at one of Universal's resorts you can get to the parks very quickly--but they're building a third theme park at some distance from the other two, and it's going to acquire a taste of this.)

    Something you also shouldn’t be afraid of is when you see that blue light when you check into the parks. Just because your touchpoint flashed blue doesn’t mean that you’re not allowed into the park. I’ve seen so many people freak out because their touchpoint flashed blue and not green. There will always be people at the touchpoints to help you out and get you into the parks in less than a minute. The worst case scenario is you may have to go to guest relations, which sounds awful but it really isn’t. They’re there to help you out with whatever situation you may have, and it won’t help them if you get frustrated at them. You’ll have plenty of time throughout your day to do whatever you want to do inside of the parks, just take a little bit of time out of it to fix whatever situation you may have with your ticket.

    I just went to Disney World! I got back yesterday and was there on Sunday, Saturday, Friday, and Thursday. It was my first time riding Expedition Everest, I studied about it a little bit, I looked at the track layout and I was pretty comfortable with the speed, heights, and the length of the ride. (In case I got scared.) Except one thing, I have never been on a loop in my life, I have always been scared of them. Even so, I had gotten the fast pass with my siblings so I told myself that I could not back out. I got on and sat with my sister and I loved it. I got all of my information from your videos. (Except for some of it.) I also got other information and secret Easter eggs, I was a Disney whiz. (Even though I am the youngest.)
    My sister got heat exhaustion while waiting in line for Haunted Mansion, and I knew where to get the nearest cast member and the nearest place to get water. I also knew some places to cool down so she would not pass out. You saved my Disney Trip by informing me of all of this. Being the youngest, no one expected me to be able to help my sister in the way that I did. The cast members were blown away. One asked me if I knew about the ring at Haunted Mansion, I told him yes and he had me show it to him. He gave us a fast pass to my sister’s favorite ride (Splash Mountain.) but not really he just told us “Talk to Dianne she will let you go through the wheelchair lane (since she had a wheelchair.) You really made my trip special, thank you AJ. Have a good day, and have a fun trip with your son at Disney World!

      Elizabeth James There is a ring in the ground near a trash can in the line for Haunted Mansion I don’t think you can see it in fast pass. The location information is in one of AJ’s videos. Please go on Everest, the loop is very quick, it was my first loop and I was not aware that there was a loop, my sister told me differently. It is very fun and you will enjoy it very much! I really hope you go on it because it is such an experience! I am so sorry to hear you are loosing your sight. You will not regret going on Expedition Everest! If you decide not to that is perfectly fine! I hope you have an amazing trip at Disney! 💛

    Once when I was at Disneyworld when I was little, it was sunny and bright all morning, then some clouds rolled in, and two seconds later, everyone was panicking and running around in the middle of a gigantic thunderstorm with high winds, pouring rain, huge streaks of lightning and deafening thunder, the whole package deal. I remember being really scared, so we ran into the nearest store, and the workers were walking around like it was business as usual. I remember there were so many people packed into that one store waiting out the storm, and the cast members were walking around asking people if they needed anything and calming down scared little ones. We all ended up singing Disney songs at the top of our lungs, as water leaked in under the doors and made puddles everywhere. I remember walking back to the hotel after the rain had stopped, and we were for most of the walk balancing on the little concrete walls around gardens, and I stepped into the road by accident, and the water was so high it went up half of my calf. It was crazy, but when we changed and headed back out, it was super sunny again and the floodwaters were gone. I literally thought it was magic. Also, the ants are enormous. Like, I've never seen bigger ants in my life than at Disneyworld.

      I've been 3 times, took my wife twice, getting ready to take my son, who is not even 3 back before the end of the year. We went last year after I discovered DFB, I planned most of our trip around the DFB posted videos; my wife and I, while we were in WDW caught ourselves, as well as others commenting "AJ said this and that...", just from watching her vids. I'm normally the one making our WDW plans, all I can say is that last year, just from the videos posted it made my life A WHOLE lot easier. Easier to the point that when we decided we were gonna go back this year, I bought DFB guides without a question. I'm not trying to sell you on buying the guides, what I am saying is that there's enough videos on here that by time you're halfway through them, you'll feel like you're listening to your best friend give you advice. When I went to Disney World with my family, my aunt and her grandkids (my cousins) were there to help us out and enjoy the park with us! They've been to Disney World 1,000 times or more, so they know their way around. We were afraid of how we were gonna get there when one of my cousins pointed out there was a bus we could take to get to the boat ride to go to Disney World! No need to be afraid of how you are going to get to the park, because there is transportation everywhere, and there are hardly any mean people there. We barely had ANY problems except knowing what to ride (and that most of our magic bands were just plain boring gray lol) but we didn't let that stop us! We also were there for my birthday (July 3rd) so we had more fun there! Another thing I think you should NOT be afraid of is outside of Disney World. You may not know this (unless you're another one of those that stayed in an RV your family has and parked at Disney's Fort Wilderness) but they do have a pool filled with dead bugs. Now you do not have to worry about this, even if you are a fellow bug-hater. They can't hurt you, and the workers there clean a lot often even when you are not looking. Pretty sneaky. And not many people will be there to harass you, which is pretty nice. And the waterslides there are actually pretty nice. They won't be a safety hazard, so go for it, and ride the waterslide. In conclusion, these are my facts of things I do not think you should be afraid of in Disney World. Enjoy! :)

    Former CM here and current AP holder..when it comes to heat fear not if you didnt bring a bottle for water! Any place that has fountain drinks will give you a cup of ice water for FREE this is DH and Is go to when we need a drink. Also baby care is AMAZING for little ones who get overwhelmed or overheated in the parks. They have quiet rooms with AC, we have a nephew who has autism and this helped him so much! He got to unwind and relax with no stress. Also never be scared to ask CMs questions! Most CMs know awesome tricks and tips! We love our parks and love to help guests!

    I agree with the allergy menus. My niece has celiac disease and she struggles everyday. When she comes to Disneyland she tells the waiter right away and the chef comes out and as sweet as can be asks what would you like. Anything in the world. What would you like. And for the whole trip she feels like a normal little girl who can eat anything she wants. The first time it made everyone cry.

    Alright here is a very broad suggestion that everyone needs to be aware of from BOTH sides of don't be afraid and should be afraid of. Or at least be AWARE of not so much afraid.
    The WILDLIFE. In particular Gators, snakes and mosquitoes. To those who freak out about "OMG Florida and Gators!" Stop freaking out. Yes where EVER there is water, there WILL be Gators, but Disney is amazingly good at controlling the populations so you can very easily go your entire trip without even realizing there is a gator swimming under the ferry boat in the seven seas lagoon. Their numbers are low and they usually are relocated out of disney really fast if one is seen lounging on the lake shore. The number of attacks by Gators on Disney property in all it's years could be counted on your hand. I could be wrong but fairly certain there has been only one gator related death there.
    Snakes also live there, anywhere you see a natural treeline that is ungroomed, they could be. I ran into many in my many years going there, mostly in the campgrounds, with only one in an actual park and they have all been nonvenomous. Talked with cast members now and then about snakes and again almost none of them ever seen dangerous species on property except in unused areas. When one is spotted they are quick to relocate or kill if needed.
    Mosquitoes are incredibly low in number in Disney property, so you could even forgo using repellent if you feel like it, but you might end up with one or two bites at most. Check out a channel called Rob Plays for his video on Disney skeeto control. They are amazingly thorough and constantly researching the mosquito populations to see if they are developing resistances as well as encouraging large populations of natural predators to them. Definitely bring the spray with you if camping though on Disney property, their spray measures go down in that area due to all the outdoorsy guest activities going on which means they have to be mindful of affecting guest health with pesticides. So the mosquito populations there are higher then elsewhere in Disney.
    Now due to how amazing Disney is at keeping populations down it is very easy to forget they exist and some people have a massive freakout on seeing something, don't worry. Just be aware they exist and don't do stupid things like walk too close to the water or trekking into unattended woodsy areas. And always remember to bring bug spray when going outside of Disney because again, easy to forget mosquitoes are an issue at all in the rest of Florida when spending a week solely in Disney.
    And most important of all. If you ever see ANY kind of wildlife, for heaven's sake... ABSOLUTELY ONE HUNDRED PERCENT BE AFRAID OF TAKING A SELFIE OR CLOSE UP AMAZING LOOKING INSTAGRAM SHOT OF THE WILDLIFE. Just like how even a jaguar at a zoo was still going to attack a person getting too close for a picture, Disney magic can not make every deer you see into Bambi or the raccoons into fizzy friends. And the squirrels can and will bite you if you try petting them, they do not want your affection and pets. Just your French fries.

    Having a food allergy, that is not a typical allergy, I can confirm that Disney is AMAZING with accommodating food allergies. I was sure that I would have to limit us to menu restaurants but I had some of my most fantastic meals at O'Hana and Boma. Helpful hint: I printed up a business card size description of my allergy to provide at each restaurant. It made it easier on the server to just bring it back to the kitchen and then the allergy chef (yes they actually have one of those in every sit down we ate at) would come out to discuss it with me.

    I can vouch for food sensitivities and Disney. My son was newly diagnosed with celiac disease when he was twelve a few year ago, and DisneyWorld was fantastic. Especially the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. He learned about foods he'd never consider trying before, and every restaurant, from full-service to counter, was helpful. Also, don't be afraid to go if you or someone in your group has disabilities. We took a good friend who had to use an electric scooter. There was only one ride that couldn't accommodate her. The rest allowed her to rollup to the ride, and then had the scooter waiting at the end. There are elevators hidden at many rides that can allow you to get to the ride loading area. Great cast members!

    You mentioned taking breaks and people watching in the parks and I 100% agree. I went during February when the park wasnt too busy but it was still a little overwhelming and sooo hot. One of my favorite moments from the entire trip was when my boyfriend and I took a 30-ish min break in Animal Kingdom to sit down in the shade by the water, eat a Mickey pretzel, and just unwind for a sec. It's one of those moments that was so peaceful and quiet and I wont forget it! PS, we sat right beside Drinkwallah in a covered patio area, check it out for yourself if you're going soon.

    One great tip we received from an avid Disneyworld-goer regarding those hot, hot days. We took a ziplock bag full of ice with a few washcloths and put it in our backpack. When the kids started getting overheated we took these (now damp) cloths and put them on the back of their necks and gave their faces a pat. Instant cool down. Thanks for that tip. Amazingly effective.

    i’m 14 and i’ve been to disney world five times and disney land one time and i just wanna say that my mom has made every experience amazing for me and my siblings. the month leading up to our trip she checked the wait times every half an hour to see what times of day every single ride has the lowest wait times. she gets fast passes based on which ones have the longest wait times. she checked what times certain shows performed on the street would be-we’ve seen these two guys perform at france in epcot so many time to the point where the recognize my family. she literally makes and prints out schedules that allow us to go in every ride we wanna go on. she called disney every single day waiting for a reservation for a specific restaurant to open up just so we could get a good view of the fireworks. long story short, plan ahead a TON because it really pays off

    Also don't be afraid of the rain. I remember one time when my family went there and it started raining one day while we were in Magic Kingdom. We just put on rain ponchos and continued going on rides. It was actually kind of nice because there were a lot less people, so rides had shorter wait times.

    We once visited a supermarket just outside of the Magic Kingdom to find the price of our few items to be less than on property but still 4 times more expensive than usual. The cashier was so used to the sticker shock that he pointed us to the Irlo Bronson highway (US 192) in Kissemee. Here you will find Wal-Mart, Target and many buffets that fit a shoestring budget. Don't be afraid of exploring Irlo Bronson which is just 15 minutes or less from your Disney location. Do be afraid of the "just outside the gate" close proximity pricing.

      Joey Zero lol that’s funny! I will have to check that out. I would prefer if AJ did the dining reviews anyway. It seems like the DFB RUclips channel is going farther away from that, which doesn’t make sense to me because it’s The Disney Food Blog.

    • @WhoStoleMyNachos
      @WhoStoleMyNachos 5 лет назад +2

      Yea, it doesn't really make sense. I think part of the reason they don't do as much food related videos since Joey left is he was more enthusiastic about them then AJ. Again, don't quote me on this, this may just be a coincidence, but compare Joey's food videos to AJ's, he genuinely seems more excited and happy about them AJ, maybe she thinks they don't have as much of an impact as most of what she talks about? Idk.

    My absolute favorite part of our family’s WDW vacations (other than actually being in the middle of a great trip) is the prep and planning for the trip. I’m the very picky over planner for all of our vacations and the wife and kids can’t stand it. When going to WDW I plan our days from start to finish with everything in between planned to the hilt. My family always complains about it right up until they say “That was a great day”. We’ve had some really great trips over the years and there’s no greater joy than to watch your family having a fantastic together and knowing that you planned it just right. Sure they complain sometimes but they always thank me afterwards. Thanks for sharing.

    I ended up extending my initial 9-day WDW trip to 12 days because Hurricane Irma arrived toward the end and my flight was cancelled. I was staying at French Quarter and they gave me a 40% discount on my room for those additional nights. I don't recall a discount on food, but that might have just been built in to the special menu we had to chose from while the resort restaurant was still open. I had a reservation for California Grille the night before the storm arrived, but decided the morning of that I should instead get back to my room early and do laundry and stock up on some essentials, just in case things got bad (I was originally supposed to fly out the day of the storm, so I was down to my last set of clean clothes). When I called to cancel the reservation, the CM originally pushed back about waiving the cancellation fee, but eventually gave in because I had very obvious reasons a bit out of my control. I rescheduled my flight for 3 days later, which meant I would have one "extra" day in the parks once they reopened. On a whim, I decided to see if I could rebook the restaurant. Yep, and easily! When I arrived that night at the Contemporary, the place was nearly empty and I'm pretty sure you could have walked in without a reservation!
