I never understood why that airplane wasn't developed further. OK, the US military was never going to adopt something that wasn't high-tech and ridiculously expensive, but I could easily see this selling very well to many other other countries. But for some reason it didn't. Maybe a little too radical...
The Optica seems so “right.” I believe a set of courageous investors will resuscitate the design, implement some computer based manufacturing, and finally bring it to market.
I worked at Edgley aircraft in the eighties making the Optica and actually got to fly in the prototype one evening and take the controls for a few minutes
Interesting that so many new aviation company’s seem to have arson happen to them effectively destroying their production capabilities. So many it almost seems beyond coincidence.
Hollee Crap - what nonsense !!! The Jab J43 twin was developed and built in South Africa. It was designed as a cost-effective twin trainer with asymmetric thrust. Only the prototype exists. You do not get extorted by farmers for landing, we have all the normal rules for landing that apply elsewhere in the world, get permission to land on private property. Do not land on a runway with X's at each end. Seriously WTF ??!!
These AI voiceovers sound like a student trying to write a term paper the night before it's due... ie meaningless word salad..... "Navigating the complexities of their journeys with newfound ease.... A symbol of ingenuety, but its presence in the skies remains a mystery..."
Colomban Cri-Cri should be on the list. Also many Rutan design could be mentioned, but my favorite is the Scaled Composites 151 ARES Mud Fighter.

The Jabiru did have one great safety feature the engines rarely ever work long another to get airborne.

Bert Rotane fanclub detected 😅
Who the f**k is Burt Rotane??!
So where are the Skyvan, Flying Flea, VFW640, Hansajet, Piaggio Avanti etc? Rutan was a very clever designer but there were and are others.
Maybe no 11 .12.. 😂😂
Awesome video!
I built a radio controlled Patchen Explorer airplane about 10 years ago. I still fly it occasionally. Quirky but fun plane.

Bert Rutan is a serious fan of Blohm&Voss designs.

Not sure I would use the word reputable with Jabiru. They had a lot of issues with their engines.

Interesting collection. Thank you. But the way you pronounce "innovative" is weird .
*sad airtruck noises*
I was waiting for the abrams P-1 and the flying pancake tho~
These planes look unique and at time serene :)
이 비행기들은 독특하고 때로는 고요해 보입니다 :)
4:51 that pylon pod engine type leaves alot to be desired in a small plane. I think more practical in multi engine larger type plane situation.
You skipped the Long ez and should have placed the Star ship after the Long ez
No FLS Microjet?
I was expecting the Falcon XP
#3:08 the aircraft of beech looks like the plane "shinden" made by Japan during ww II
So did they every find out who committed the Arson ?
This video has many factual errors.
