  • There are, in a normal year, around 115 thousand commercial flights per day around the world, and that doesn’t even include the numerous private, military, and cargo journeys that take place too. With the various different purposes that they’re used for, and with increasingly efficient technologies being developed, there’s a wide range of different planes that are used, and an even greater variety that are currently in the planning stages. From those powered purely by green energy, to ones that can carry a huge number of passengers, or completely redefine what a plane actually is… it’s time to take a look at 15 unique aircraft design concepts.

I think most of the concerts with these airplanes are the most incredible design and I strongly believe that they will be out sooner than we think because of the technology that's getting more advanced Day Care planes may be out sooner than we think one of my favorites is the wide wing where you can sit in the wing area and three levels is really good if one from the beginning and towards the end they're all great

Where I grew up there used to be an Optica in use / testing. It DEFINITELY wasn’t “ virtually silent”

Thanks for your insight, but what they actually claim is "it is virtually silent in flight". very clever!

@@ecoideazventures6417 It’s a cool little aircraft for sure. The sound has to go somewhere, so if it’s silent from inside it’s being sent elsewhere. It was a noisy little bugger from the ground. ( I still like it though )

There are reasons as to why propeller driven planes have the prop at the front. The disruption of air by the wings and fuselage cause a pusher design to vibrate the whole plane.

They have done the research and the passenger experience in a flying wing doesn’t work. They are always looking for cheaper seat-mile innovations. When you don’t see them on the plane it is usually when they get shot down for cost, safety, or no market.

The Progress Eagle is a far-fetched idea that I sincerely doubt will ever come to fruition. It would still have to tolerate adverse wind conditions while flying.
I can't fathom 800 people in an aircraft with some ( or many) walking around to visit shops and restaurants.
One good 5,000 foot drop will have many severe injuries and deaths.

Shops and restaurants in an airplane , not likely - they pack people in like sardines for a reason and that's to make money .

Knowing how slow it is to board an aircraft that has any number of seats to a few hundred, 800 on an single plane would make the boarding process that would take like a day to happen, let along un-boarding.. No thanks.

That Airbus design is not good, efficiency would go way down because of the large increase in frontal area, this is why flying wings never caught on.
