Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale-hero shooter game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One in February 2019, for Nintendo Switch in March 2021, and for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in March 2022.
Before the match, players form into two- or three-player squads, and select from pre-designed characters with distinctive abilities, known as "Legends". The game has two gameplay modes. In "Battle Royale", up to 20 three-person squads or 30 two-person duos land on an island and search for weapons and supplies before attempting to defeat all other players in combat. The available play area on the island shrinks over time, forcing players to keep moving or else find themselves outside the play area which can be fatal. The final team alive wins the round.
Apex Legends is set in the same science fiction universe as Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall series, with several characters from the Titanfall series appearing either as minor characters or playable Legends. Work on the game began around late 2016, though the project remained a secret right up until its launch. The game's release in 2019 came as a surprise, as until that point it had been assumed that Respawn Entertainment was working on a third installment to the Titanfall franchise, the studio's previous major game. Apex Legends received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its gameplay, progression system, and fusion of elements from various genres. Some considered it a worthy competitor to other battle royale games. Apex Legends surpassed 25 million players by the end of its first week, and 50 million within its first month. By April 2021, it had approximately 100 million players making it one of the most played video games of all time by player count.

I'm coming back after 5 seasons of not playing. For me it was 120Hz mode for PS5/XSX versions and Ranked changes.
I understand! 120hz is huge! I think the ranked changes are great as well. This is the first time in a long time I am excited about Apex!
I feel this season will be my last.
1: Matchmaking based on highest RP just means that solo queue and players who carry will still struggle.
2: The legend perks were a good idea, until they "balance" by just making the less used legends broken and make the game even more about abilities (the first game I'm hit with 2 Maggie Qs I'm turning the game off)
3: The evo thing is so boring, I want to fight and rotate, not do side quests like Elden Ring.
4: Console kids with .6AA at 120fps
I want to be hopeful because this is the best BR ever, but I think it'll be solid for a month and then decline like every other season. Games can't stay forever.
Your last statement could not be more true. Games do not last for forever and I think we are seeing the consequences of games that are hanging around longer than usual.
With that being said, I appreciate your input here. AIM assist will actually be lowered to the .4 value when console people are using 120 FPS. So that is good news.
As for the matchmaking system, I actually found it easier to get through the ranked system as a fellow solo queuer in a RP system like this versus the hidden MMR system and LP. But that’s just my own experience.
I also hope the legends balance themselves out overtime and the developers are on top of that to fix anything that is utterly ridiculous.
Maybe I’m just being optimistic, but I think Playing the season in moderation would allow for the utmost enjoyment! That will be my approach at least 😅

i havent played consistently since like season 14/15 but this has me excited
I’ve been away for some time too. I think this can definitely restore Apex back to it’s former glory, if done right 🙏🏽
I'll be honest, I don't think it matters whether a game gets constant updates and consistent developer input. We're coming to the end of the competitive multiplayer FPS genre, and I'm all for it. I love the game and I'm incredibly excited to hop in tomorrow after the patch, but my friend group and I that have been playing competitive FPS games for years now are looking to jump ship to newer games that span much broader genres.
Valorant, CS:2, Apex, Fortnite, OW2; I don't see any of these games lasting more than another 2 or 3 years (with >= 10k consistent players), after the multiple decades we've had with Quake, CS, TF2, OW, Titanfall, which have all died. I solely expect Call of Duty to survive this genre transition we're heading towards.

Haha sheesh! Jokes aside though, I am very interested in the future of gaming, especially when it comes to FPS titles. I know they will evolve into something else, but that thing is yet to be determined. Either way, I will be along for the ride every step of the way 😎
They NEED to separate gun run, tdm, and control game mode

Anything that is cost efficient, at least 144hz with 1ms response time. Outside of that, I don’t know homie lol

This new update is a L my g ,people are gonna be mirroring the same op legends ,abusing those dumbshit ability mechanics. It would be nice if they have left a game mode for players that like the game as is or the original format/content of the game instead of being forced and subjected into trash.
So, by them providing players with more ability options, you think people are gonna play with less diversity in comparison to the prior systems that had less options? I don’t think I can buy into that notion homie 😅
