- Hello and welcome to my sewing room!
Today I'm showing you how to make my
#7 Home Town Quilt Block in 5" and also 10" size.
I am using my latest fabric collection HOME TOWN designed by me and produced and distributed by the fabulous Riley Blake Designs.
I have given you the cutting recipe for both sizes below so be sure and click until the entire description of this video is visible below.
I am making these blocks to go into the HOME TOWN SEW ALONG QUILT which takes place on my blog every Friday and Monday during this sew along.

Each tutorial I'll be showing you just one of ten blocks.
I'm also going to make several blocks of each of the ten to make a quilt for my bed and then I'll design 6 more and add them to my quilt...of course I'll show you how to make those as well!
I'll take you along on that journey with me as I sew blocks each time on my vintage featherweight sewing machine.
Thank you for joining me today:)
I hope that you enjoy our time together in my sewing room!!

Wish I could afford a truckload of Lori’s fabric ❤
Me too!
Me too. It's so beautiful
I don’t know if you guys know about the fat quarter club which is Lori Holt at the fat Quarter shop I get mine monthly and I absolutely love it getting Lori fabrics to my door every month
Absolutely 💯!
Me too!
Thank you this is a great block
Lori, I love all of your tutorials. I was just discharged from the hospital on Wednesday after my knee replacement surgery. I will be watching any new tutorial and, rewatching a lot of your former tutorials.
You look fabulous ❤
You always wear such fun rings and bracelets as well.
Ha ha. As you were saying that sooner or later, you will recognize a quarter inch seam and you’ll know if you are in the right position or not. I was working on a recipe that called for 1/4” sliced potatoes and I was like yes! I know exactly what that is!
You are the best teacher for this novice quilter. The way you break down sewing the blocks is so clear to understand and helps us all be more confident that we can create beautiful blocks. I absolutely love your easy corner method. Love, love your fabrics. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us 🌻
That is a great way to make 1/2 square triangles. Thank you for a new way to make them
I so wish I could afford to take my quilts to a quilter. I have to quilt them myself which I don't particularly enjoy but love to put a quilt top together. I'm so glad there are so many who can afford it so they can enjoy the process!
I quit taking mine because I want to have my quilts made by me! I hope you find a process that you enjoy!
@@joycej9415 thanks Joyce. That's actually a good analogy. I appreciate that 👍🏻❤️
@@Kim-tl4wz I have tried many different ways to quilt my tops. I really enjoy quilt as you go because I can sew a block, then quilt it, sew another, quilt it and then put those together. Or I can sew and quilt row by row. Anyhow it is just more variety and keeps me stitching!
@@joycej9415 I've been looking into that. I actually used to enjoy quilting but my arthritis has gotten so bad that its pretty painful. I thought quilt as you go may be easier for my hands. Do you find it easier?
@@Kim-tl4wz funny you mention tha, my arthritis is getting worse too and yes I find it easier! Less weight etc. Makes my wrists hurt less.
I love your new music. The other music was fun too. ❤❤❤
Sei fantastica 😍🌷🌷🌷
you look beautiful and happy this morning! Thanks for the video😀
I really enjoy your tutorials; every time I see a new one posted it feels like a treat. I like the new music it's a nice change. However, I REALLY enjoyed your commentary while you sewed rows together because you often shared tidbits about your grandmother, your life and your thoughts and I always felt like I was sitting right there with you like a friend. I understand that the music allows you to fast forward through, but I miss the casual chit chat. (I still won't miss a tutorial...I'll just miss your "hometown friendliness"..) You're the BEST teacher!❤
Great tip on sewing your squares on later and cutting off for your hat. Great tutorial
Ok, you answered my question. 8 inch and 12 inch clappers. Thank you Lori.
Thank you Lori and Cassidy❤. I really appreciate the seams guide instruct.
Thanks, I can hardly wait for your tutorials.
Спасибо! Отличный блок!
I am enjoying the Home Town tutorials and blog posts. I have made the first four houses and am working on the 5" squares in between. I just made block #7 and realized that the Home Town Sew Along Guide suggests cutting 2" X 2" squares instead of 2 1/2" X 2 1/2" from the background fabric for the half square triangles in the corners. Didn't know if this was the appropriate place to post this information, but didn't know where else to inform you of the error.
I love the new music too! That tiny hint of sleigh bells created a longing for Christmas! Thank you! God bless you always and your family ❤
Perfect. Thank you. ❤❤❤❤
I had my fingers crossed we get a tutorial tonight. ❤❤
Your weight lose is great. Thank you for all you do. I tried the bonus project theory for the first time. I loved it. I looked for another one, right away😃
Yes I've wondered how she's done it. I'm a big girl too and its tough getting around. Hard on your body.
Love all the creative tutorials. Thank you for sharing.
love this
Really enjoyed this tutorial, Lori. I love the block design.
I just noticed the crochet doily on your spool of thread . So cute!!!
I just love your sewing room! I also love your fabrics!
Love this… of course you never need the 5” ruler to square up… always perfect ‼️
Thank you for your quilting tips and sharing your words of wisdom!
Loving your series!😊
Beautiful blocks Lori...I love scrappy❤❤
This HST "Hack" is so clever & useful for small blocks that can be so fussy. Plus--sewing the block this way you can leave off the last step of the "flippy" corners & create another really cute block! Thanks also for the "sewing life" advice--I too use quilting & sewing as my therapy & if it starts causing stress I know I must take steps to correct it. Have a Blessed Day Lori & family!
Yes. Love this. Makes ironing and seeing over those seams so much easier
Love it!!! Thank you Lori!!!
Love your new music! Your tutorial was very informative ❤
Thanks, Take care.
Thanks for all of the explanations. They are so helpful. I appreciate it so much!
I look forward to seeing your quilt finished, it will be so nice.
I hope I'm not overlooking something, but all the easy corner triangles for today's block were instructed to be cut 2 inches instead of 2.5. That doesn't seem right to me. Am I overlooking something? :)
So it's correct in the video but not the guide.
I cut 2" squares as per the sewing guide. 😢 I guess I need to cut some 2.5" squares. Glad I have some extra.
My featherweight has the seam guide on the throat plate
How do we find the 10 in block pattern
What size of the Riley Blake Quilter’s Clapper do you use the most?
Question for anyone : I use the seam tape from cluck cluck sew but don't like how it comes off so easily so you have to constantly take it off and use more. Does washi tape come off like that? I was thinking about getting the seams sew easy guide but don't want that tape constantly curling up like the other that I'm currently using does.
👍👏🥰🌸🇦🇺
