  • Hello and welcome to my sewing room!
Today I'm showing you how to make my
#8 Home Town Quilt Block in 5" and also 10" size.
I am using my latest fabric collection HOME TOWN designed by me and produced and distributed by the fabulous Riley Blake Designs.
I have given you the cutting recipe for both sizes below so be sure and click until the entire description of this video is visible below.
I am making these blocks to go into the HOME TOWN SEW ALONG QUILT which takes place on my blog every Friday and Monday during this sew along.
CLICK on this link to go to my blog:
    beeinmybonnetc...
Each tutorial I'll be showing you just one of ten blocks.
I'm also going to make several blocks of each of the ten to make a quilt for my bed and then I'll design 6 more and add them to my quilt...of course I'll show you how to make those as well!
I'll take you along on that journey with me as I sew blocks each time on my vintage featherweight sewing machine.
Thank you for joining me today:)
I hope that you enjoy our time together in my sewing room!!

Hi! I love this but unfortunately I can't afford much of the fabric. I'm disabled I can't walk much. We are trying to survive on SSA. I'm begging everyone for scraps. A kind quilty friend is giving what she can but hasn't used this line yet so she cant send any. The background fabric is what I need most I have none. I really want to do the Snowman..the one with the wagon. Its so cute. My first Lori Holt quilt. Im very excited but it probably won't be until after the first of the year as I'm having surgery towards the end of this month. I love watching you sew. I'm an organized person like yourself. Thank you 🥰

I just received my copy of Scrappiness is Happiness! If it is not on the best sellers list, It should be. I have been viewing your RUclips post, and they are spectacular. The detail and accuracy is amazing. I will keep your book on my quilting table as a reference Quilting Bible. I like that you do not assume that everyone knows the "little things". Oh well, I could go on and on with my appreciation for your sharing of quilting expertise. Continue living lovely. A new fan! - Madonna Carter Jackson

Just ordered my hometown fat quarters! I have ordered 2! I want to make sure I have enough! I am a little late following on this quilt but that is fine! Will keep me busy through the winter! I just finished my granny square need to bind and it will be finished! Also finished Scrappiness is Happiness and need to get to the quilter possibly AFTER the Holidays! Working on the spools quilt and following Fat Quarter Shop on that one! I have not attempted the applique but I made the quilt as Kimberly did using the Chicken Salad fabric line. My daughter-in-law would probably love this quilt! They have chickens! Lots of chickens! We both love fabric and when we shop we call it "fondling fabric"! If my mother were alive she would be so very happy to see me quilting! She was a seamstress and I love to quilt but does not matter what we do if we have the LOVE OF SEWING something beautiful. I do have my other's very old Singer sewing machine. It needs lots of work on it. Possibly in the future I will find someone near our town who can do some maintenance on it. I also have the "knotty pine" sewing cabinet my dad made for that sewing machine! I am 72 years old and have always remembered that sewing cabinet and sewing machine so that gives you an idea of how old they both are! You are such a wonderful teacher. Thank you Lori and may God Bless you and your family!

Thank you so much for the repetition. As a retired professional church musician, after 45 years I planned on retiring, going up the street and singing for my friend at the large church in town. (Then COVID hit.) I wanted to retire because I was tired of hearing myself talk! Your continued care and instruction for your peeps, your beautiful fabric and patterns keeps us coming! Thank you for your dedication to our improvement.

My day is complete when there is a new Lori Holt video! I would watch you if you read the phone book (do they still have those?) I always learn something since I am relatively new. Loved seeing you and Kimberly with your upcoming releases. I do have a request. Please have Kimberly come visit you again and share some videos with us. The energy and camaraderie between you two is so much fun to watch. Thanks - love these blocks.

You can always make another set of 4 blocks, so you have 8 extra. Since they're 5 inch blocks, you can make 2 four patches for pillow shams to match the quilt. After the first 200 blocks, what's a few more lol. It'll be a beautiful quilt.

When your putting on the corner triangle over the other square do you cut that square smaller? I don’t understand how you get the same size to line up when your missing the 1/4” from the previous sewing the square
