Thank you thank you thank you. I've learnt the thumb and pinky hold, but could never do this hold. And now I finally realise I did it wrongly! Your video showed the hold many times with good angles, so I finally got it. Now it's easy.
The swinging around excercise is super helpful, you can also fill the plates with random stuff! I struggle to use my left, but it will work someday. Great video!
Sooo cool Thanks pops! That’s like the cirque Du soleil of plates. Nice! Lost my office job last year due to pandemic and I’m practicing to become a waiter this summer. This will help.
Carrying three or four plates is practically impossible when your place is using big square plates topped with cast iron pots on it. This is a big reason why we lose time in my workplace because we can only take two plates at a time.
I was a Maitre D. in Cyprus. I was born and trained in Germany. Now living in the USA I was always wondering why waiters don’t even know how to carry plates. Until I found out, that nobody showed them how to do. Now I am planing seminars for waiters to make them their jobs much easier, to get better jobs and higher tips because of knowing more about the PROFESSION of being a waiter
As a previous head waiter, I know this works, for most countries and most restaurants. But one plate bottom touching the other plate's top is violation of health code. Plates shouldn't touch each other. But then again, realistically speaking, one, with practice, like I did, can carry 4 to 9 plates on one hand (depending on size, 9 is my limit for side dish and 4 for main course) and 2 to 3 on the right hand (very hard to carry 3 even if it's a side dish, if you lose your balance for a sec, the other are going to fall like dominoes). But if you have to consider the health code, one may be able to carry 2-3 main dishes and 4 side dishes on one hand whilst just one with the other hand (the serving hand).
@@soul3638 you don't "put", you just pick them. Pick from one corner of the plate, they need to be square to do that, and then place the corner on top of the border of the other plate you're going to pick, same way you hold the first two plates on the other hand, and then with your middle finger pick up the third one, if they're small plates. There's a lot to it I can't explain, but you might find photos and videos around.
@@johnrobertmelescan2245 ahh no worries.. ill try to do that so to find a way for holding more then 3 plates so i can work more effinciently ... tysm :)

The three plate stack should be in your RIGHT hand; the single fourth plate should be in your LEFT hand. This way, when you serve the guest you are serving from their left with that singled out plate first.
I have a four years working experience as a waiter not easy to Carry four plate when your plates will be fully. By food Mt plates and fully plates take to different
My boss runs with 6. I can do 3, but he runs 6. 4 on one arm, 2 in a hand. This does not go for dinner plates, but only starters and deserts. I'm still impressed.
I’m a new busser and I’m still trying to incorporate the transferring the eaten food and cutlery part down from plate to plate 🤦🏻♂️😂. I hope I can find a video with that and this together
thanks, i figure you can grab the fifth by just opening your right hand while u alreaady have that single fourth plate there, hover over the 5th plate and grab that one too
Yeah... but problems occur when serving the first dish. Either you have to put one plate down before serving the first plate or you have to juggle with the dishes in front of the guest. In very busy conditions I served 8 Dishes with every walk (5Left and 3Right), but that becomes really hard and doesn't look nice.. Of coure with 8 plates you need someone to help you picking them all up. Its works like this: ruclips.net/video/INfo6q9ZPo0/видео.html , but with 3 on the right Hand

You speak on the behalf of all waiters and waitresses. This is such a big help
Very useful for someone like myself that works in a kitchen of a restaurant that has a lot of 4-top tables. Thank you for the video!

Great video!
2 years later,did it work😂😂
Finally, someone who knows what they're doing in one of these videos.
Thank you, I been a S.A for almost three years now, and this helps me feel more useful without needing a follow
I'm still trying to learn
Sooo cool

Get a large oval tray, then you can carry more.
Best to use a big tray in that case
Dats u lmao we have the same plate the square one n my coworker carry 5 plates on left hand then 1 right

I couldn't find anything in Russian about that, and found your video, thank you very much!🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much for your knowledge 🙏 ☺️ I am gonna try it 😊
Thanks. Would love to see that with food on the plates. I know it can be done but very difficult especially with smaller hands.
Thank you for this video! So useful.

how do you put plates in the other hand since the other has 9 plates already on it??

it depends on what hand is stronger. If you write with left then use your primary dominant hand for easiness.
wouldnt that be their right?
Thank u
Thsnks for share video
Ok, I can get them in my hands but how do you get the 4 plates flat?
I cant get it my arm is higher up than the 2nd plate. Meaning the 3rd plate is voert diagonal
The under side of the plate is touching the top of the other.... is that an issue??
Thanks
Thnks sir
Thank you! Very helpful
my guy definitly play's strategy games :D

Nice video ....
I can now out perform everyone at the buffet line.
I had seen 5 plates. But that fourh plate in left is a kind of risk. Just for or more like rush hours and high energy, practice and confidence.

👍
Why am I watching these videos.. thinking of becoming a server 🤔..
The plates touching is incorrect.
Carrying starter and desert is possible but carrying 4 plates in mains is really tough when u have big portion serving in mains
Good 👍 jop sir
Bottom of a plate should never touch the top of another plate with food on it. That’s a health code violation
Who cares
Nerd
So... You carry empty plates?
Tell’em
Con los platos vacíos se ve todo muy bien...
Respekte anche io sono kamarier 40 ani ancora il lavori cui in ALLBENIA Thenkju
Yeah easy when they r empty, harder when full and sauce swilling about
Harder, but not impossible. Easier to learn with empty plates, though
Now do that with 4 soups😂😂
Put the food on the plates let see how you carry
:3
Show us with 4 plates full of food
plates cannot touch each other food violation if done like this
4 plates?
We don't need 4 plates Anymore
Its EMPTY thats why its easy to demonstrate... try it with meals😅
Easy to demonstrate, yes. With full plates it’s still possible
But if I'm only getting paid $5/hr, I'll carry one at a time.
Impossible because they're too heavy.
stop show the empty plates..come on...
Un less the food is not hot
Carrying cold. Plates. Useless
Pfff, I can carry 5
