I bought my cats outdoor dog kennel for the summer months and they hang out in there and I don't have to worry about the escaping except for when they're going in and out of the dog kennel but they love it and I put hammocks in there and everything. 💖
Thank you very much for your kind comment! Very glad to hear that we gave you inspiration for your catio! We just uploaded another video about Minos recent life here and he truly enjoys it here. Feel free to check it out under ruclips.net/video/ez2WIx6y4p0/видео.html
I absolutely love this idea and I’ll definitely do it for my cats in the future😊 though I’d definitely cover the top and the rest of the sides as well since I’m planning to keep Siamese cats who are very skilled jumpers❤️
Thanks a lot! Yes it really depends of the type of the cat. Mino is very cautious and also afraid when he sees birds or so. He usually runs into the house whenever he sees a bird or hears barking dogs on the street.
But Mino not. In 2 years he never tried it once, even with birds frequently on the others houses roofs. He never did it once, I guess he’s not stupid and does not want to risk his life.
what if the cat wants to climb all the way to the top of the netting? Then it would fall over the side of the building. I would put something in where it bends forward so they wouldn't be able to go over the top
In 2 years he never tried it once, even with birds frequently on the others houses roofs. He never did it once, I guess he’s not stupid and does not want to risk his life.
It also looks a bit scary to me being the owner of 2 cats that climb everything. Having said that it depends on the cat - and also the age - older cats are less likely to climb high or wander far away. If it works for you guys then it's all good :)
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. A new video about Mino will come tomorrow :) And yes, it works for us, as Mino is a quite shy cat and runs inside as soon as a bird comes close. So we don’t have to be afraid of him jumping up the roof :)
Just a couple of things I think will help you. Weigh down the netting on the balcony floor he could climb under it. A tall slim cat tree would keep him happy he could look over with no trouble 😻😽.
Mino is a very cute cat, nice job :) I am about to make something similar in my apartment. I was just wondering, do you trust Mino out on the balcony when no one is home? Or is Mino only allowed out when you are home and can keep an eye on him?
Thanks so much! Very glad to hear that! :) we only let him out when we are at home but in 2 years he never tried to climb or jump the fence once, even with birds frequently on the others houses roofs. When we are at home we sometimes eat in the kitchen and let him be alone on the balcony without our supervision. He’s absolutely fine with that. We will finally upload a new video of Mino tomorrow, by the way :)
It is now there for more than half a year and he never jumped, while being outside everyday for hours. There were also no attempts to jump by him. He even learned how to walk on the balcony step with the net. It does not fall off when he leans on it, because the middle stick holding it is enforced in the bottom and top, so there is just about 2-3 centimetres space to walk for him on the balcony step.
Yes, but Mino will not do it. At least not during the last 8 months when he was on the balcony. If birds are coming or there are barking dogs downstairs he immediately runs inside.
He will not jump but it is better to have it. So that he will not climb up the roof. Fortunately Mino is quite heavy and cannot jump high, so the left and right sides of the net to the roof are already out of his reach. Also, he is afraid of birds, runs immediately inside the house if one comes close. So only insects are his friends :)
In 2 years he never tried it once, even with birds frequently on the others houses roofs. He never did it once, I guess he’s not stupid and does not want to risk his life. We even had a cat visitor for one month here and she also never even attempted it within the 1 month.

No, you’re wrong! My cat AND 3 others who have stayed at our place have NEVER climbed out for months! I don’t know what’s wrong with your cat. I also put a camera there to monitor and they didn’t even attempted once in 90 days! So what? Maybe your cat likes to commit suicide by jumping from the 3rd floor if they climb over the net but ours do not.
@@mino-the-cat it amazes me that you don't think most cats would be able and willing to climb out, it is so basic! In Sweden you are not allowed to adopt cats from any of the big shelters without showing proof that your (if you have one) balcony is completely netted in, pretty weird that it has gone past you lol
@@mino-the-cat you are right, not all cats have the instinct to run away. My friend has 4 cats, he regularly lets them out on his balcony with no issue. No net, they never tried to climb or jump down. They are just happy to watch the scenery. I trust that if your cat developped a will to explore, you would have adjusted the catio accordingly. That being said, I hope lessons will never have to be learned the hard way (I hope no accidents happen). I think the net is a good deterrant to jump directly ahead, and it is too weak to hold if the cat tried to climb. its easier for them to climb chain link fences because they are stable, but the net moves and doesnt provide a good balance. thats probably why they dont climb it. too much of a challenge for kitties who have a comfortable life and no desire to lose it. Please note the username of that person, I think they are just here to argue.
You’re really funny 😆 I‘m not in Sweden and my cat does enjoy life a lot, maybe not yours. But I can’t make an assumption. Also here in Germany there are no such laws that you mentioned. Why should I know the laws in Sweden when I’m not living there, that’s pretty weird lol. And I’m basing my answer on 90 days of camera data, and now almost 2 years of actual experience with him and others playing on the balcony. I think that’s way more data comparatively. If that’s pathetic to you then you can make a 10 years statistic of Mino’s balcony endeavours with your own cameras if you fancy that 😂Anyways, I’m not here to argue, have a great day. Just like Mino had playing on the balcony today 🐈
Cats are very agile and daring, some of them wouldn't find any problem sorting on top of this little fence.
Yes for some of them! You are right. Its just not the case for Mino so this is fine. Within one year nothing happened.
nothing happen till it does, the best will be to cover the top too.
@@ximenacorrea5305 agreed. All you need is a local predatory bird such as a hawk eagle or owl to get too close & too hungry before problems arise.
@@mino-the-cat Glad to hear because that was what I was thinking.
This is very helpful and inspirational for me. But I would definitely close of the top with the same net, and secure the bottom.

The cat is very happy when there is an opportunity to breathe fresh air! Catio is a great solution👍
Haha indeed, but now it’s too cold in the winter for him to go out. Hope it’ll get warmer soon.
My cat would take this catio apart in no time. But you are very loving cat parents.
Mino is beautiful. Looks so soft. 🥰
Thank you! Yes Mino is very soft but loves to talk a lot!
It is wonderful to see how much you love your cat, thank you, this is a great project.

Such nice cat parents! Very cute cat!
Thank you! :)
You are very good, patient, thoughtful cat parents! Glad Mino likes it. You have given me a good idea for enclosing my little porch into a catio.

My Gracie is too adventurous. She would climb or jump over it I am afraid. Glad Mino is cautious. Nice view for him and fresh air too. Kudos.

I love how nosey cats are! And such voyeurs!

My cats would walk right through this. No problem

Mino must be one of those smart cats I've heard about, haha!
Your cat resembles mine. markings,eyes.
Very happy to hear that!
What is the net made of
I unfortunately don’t know, some tough nylon I guess.
Bambou sticks is a great Idea to secure your balcony without damaging it with screws!
Indeed! Thanks a lot! :) And they are durable, after almost 1 year there is still no damage!

Yes I’d advise attaching a netted roof too incase cat goes wild and tries to climb to top
In 2 years he never attempted it once
How much cost of net?
Very cheap on Amazon, but I don’t know how much it was.
Sukses selalu

Get some cat safe plants and ferns catnip and build a box with soul and grass...🍃🌱🌿🌲🌸🦋

maybe add 45degree angle inwards, if cat start's clime up, they see wall coming and wont clime.. (quote of Jackson galaxy)
Good idea! Thanks :)
Really you guys don't think Milo could jump on the roof or get underneath. Looks like a good start. But a long way from safe.
Never happened within 8 months. If there are birds on the roof Mino always runs inside the house. He is kind of afraid and shy of birds.

I'm looking for the Eiffel Tower in the background listening to the music. Heeheehee
Thanks thats so nice!! :) have a good day!
I made a catio! 🤗 Thank you sooo much for the wonderful inspiration. 💖

Not once

Yeaaah, he can play often outside!! :)
Good idea, Guys.. But it doesn't work to my cat, she will climb up the net and jump to the roof hehehe
Thanks! haha yea it depends on the each persona of the cat. Ours didn't jump once in years.
Needs to be covered at the top and all over so it is enclosed.
👍🐈🐾❤️❤️❤️
Vielen Dank! :)
Are you sure he is not going to jump? the top part is open! does not look safe and I think you a smart enough to sense that.

Ours as well. My big boys are great escape artist 😂😂
Make sure those plants aren't toxic to cats.

He can still get in the other roof and get out
He seems distressed, don't leave him out on his own.
