Hello! Nice video! Hope you don't mind me asking, but why 2 Hysteria & 2 Ataxia?
where is your music? Funny you should ask! I just released a new track:

Sound
I will do a video on how I made the track in a week or so. Also considering doing a remix competition with some fun prices. Let me know what you think about that!
So I've been an electronic music producer for 17+ years, however I just got into hardware & analog Synths in 2019. My first synth I purchased for myself is the Behringer Model D, and I also want to get into modular; point being these are perfectly priced for my budget to allow me to start building my Eurorack modular setup.
Great video! Super stoked to get started with these!!!
Cheers,
.-H.B.
I really enjoyed that track! What is the reverb you use on it?
Man, they look tasty like ice cream and sound crunchy like the sprinkles on top... Beautiful!
great analogy !
YES! I just got my complete set yesterday and have been checking everyday for a new video. Thank you Bo! You are appreciated!
I also was thinking of a second Hysteria and Ataxia so im glad to see you made that choice as well :D
I'm not a fan of these, but grateful to see modules demoed so I know what to buy, and just as importantly what I don't want to buy!
the Utopia has incredible value as a multifunction mixer. I see it eventually becoming a must-have along with Maths and Pamela's.
As much as I can appreciate that the slider format is performance oriented I struggle to tell them apart in broad daylight, I can't imagine being colour blind and using them on stage.
The best review on this modules. I sold my erebus v3 and bought all this modules. Love them. They all have multiple functions. Lots of utility
oldschoolebm666 I’m about to buy the Cre8audio nifty bundle and fill the rest with these and pair it with my Minibrute 2. Can’t wait. I’ve had a lot of Dreadbox stuff and currently own the Medusa also. They’re an awesome company.
This Year will be the year I take the modular dive!
great year to start! Behringer will release some nice modules to under 100euros
i know! I'm excited! My whole synth setup is pretty much Behringer now, I'm not disappointed nor embarrassed.
Yep, me too!! This stuff just sounds fantastic!!
Enjoy your journey! And don’t fall into the “cheap modules always sounds bad” trap!
Seriously, Bo. That first track that you made is sick! Really love it!
good!! Because I am trying to finish it :-)
What are the odds that 2 of the 3 modules BoBeats recommends from this series were just offered to me in a Sweetwater bundle with the Nifty Case Bundle (4 modules and a case, plus 5 patch cables and a 5-way splitter for $450) right as I'm considering getting into Eurorack?
The stars have aligned (quite literally with the historical Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in a couple of days, haha)! My Neutron can't wait to have some buddies to play with :D
Its a euroraconspiracy! 😂 seems like a solid eurorack starter kit
wtf, I'm just starting to build mine, why can't the stars align like that for
meeee??? ☹
thanks for the great overview! Looking to get into eurorack this year and these are very tempting.
Im so in love with the Dreadbox sound ! I got a Medusa and an EREBUS v 3 and - i always end up playing these two machines , early in the morning - after a busy night - start out with 10 synths , end up with the 2 still going ,- theres something - strangely raw and smooth in the same time - it shouldnt be possible - but there you have it ! And as you said - the fact that these modules can do so many things ,each -at that price IS pretty astonishing ....Thanx for a fine video, Bo - you are getting better and better - and i have a feeling youll be a mighty youtuber sooner than later ,-👆
I thought you had cut to an intro, only to realise that beat was the modules... damn 😂
Hyteria - Ataxia - Eudemonia . Dystopia - Nostalgia . Utopia.... Cool names and colors. Nice job BoBeats.
For anyone interested in getting started, the Cre8Audio Nifty Case bundle on Sweetwater has a deal going where they include two of these Dreadbox modules (you can call to change which ones are included) in addition to the two modules that come with the case bundle for around $450 or so. Not sure if this is location-specific or if they don't give this deal to everyone, but I figured I'd put this here.
I am having fun with the Hysteria oscillator, I really like the way you can morph through the waveforms and the pulsewith slider being additive is very sweet indeed. I'm thinking to buy some more of those modules. And thanks for the video, very nice.
Love *dreadbox* gear, - unique ideas, but with a vintage tone.
~ i got the *erebus v3, nyx2 and several WL-modules last year, and i will never sell them...~
i feel some don't realize how truly awesome *dreadbox* units are, as i often see them on ebay going for considerably less than their rrp. i understand there are often a few compromises on their standalone instruments, but they more than make up for them by introducing elements not available on other machines, and i personally find the limitations refreshing, - plus the value range of each knob tends to be considerably wide...
That said, the chromatics won't be making it into my modular systems...In an attempt to restrict my eurocrack habit, - and having been a *doepfer* customer since '96, - i only allow the colours silver, black, red and white, into my systems. They look more cohesive aesthetically, and i feel a better connection with them as a result, - the autism may also play a small part in that decision. ~ certainly leaves me a lot more money to spend on other devices
~love to ALL, feel no hate~
ps. if your reading this Yiannis, - at least release the *nostalgia* in black...i really want that one.
Wich do you end up using the most - the EREBUS or the NYX ?
My favorite synth company currently. Everything they make sounds amazing.
That "dystopia" module, I really think it's a standout one for me. With the digital noise and bit Crusher!🎹🎧💀💫😵👌😎👍
I'd pay 10 bucks more for black panels. Otherwise, pretty damn cool.
oh, you're one of THOSE people 🙄
jk. I'm one of those people who prefer my studio looked like someone vomited fruity pebbles everywhere.
Thanks for making this video Bob. Hysteria will be my next module.
Hi Bo❗️We met and talked at the Eter festival in Lund. Thanks for sharing info in your great presentation❗️😃Mats

I have the Ataxia since it came out, really great module for its price. I think in the future I will get myself a Hysteria as well.
I own the Nostalgia module and love it. Great value for the price
So Bo, I watched your vlog on the RackBrute 6U and thought nice, I'll get one and fill them with dreadbox Chromatic modules. I said to myself I'll just have the one Eurocrack 6U, that'll keep costs down. Then Herr Behringer also releases affordable modules. (I look forward to your review). Looks like 'I'm gonna need a bigger boat' Bo.
Thanks for a nice overview!
I happen to know that wifey-thingy will get me a NiftyBundle in a couple of weeks, I may have to pick up two of these modules to put in it! ;-)
Excellent combo!
What we really need is you showing cool ways to use the LP Pro with a modular system stand alone 🙌🏾
Hello
You are not testing the dreadbox by itself ?
It seems you are connecting to other modules ?
What is your drum machine which sound so tasty
Perfect for someone starting out (and others as well). Amazing value and they sound great.
Are the LFOs syncable ?
Good looking and good sounding
Bo knows beats...playing that board like a magician/meastro
Nice beat man!
Hi Bo ! Great video, didn't know about these. Pretty awesome to see innovative modules for cheap. I wonder what you think about Behringer modules tho ? They seem to have good knobs.
Eurorack is the dream for me, I just don't go into it because of the price. When you compare the price, for the same modules, with a Behringer crave or neutron... But having the possibility to buy a modules now and then is awesome. I will begin to check out cases now...
If I buy a RackBrute and all of these modules, is that enough to get started? Or will I need other modules?
Yes.
It's 2022 and the US dollar is strong enough against the Euro and GBP that you can get many modules for like 30% cheaper from Thomann than Sweetwater, Amazon, or any other common American retailer. That comparison includes shipping and taxes.
I'm interested in these but can't help but wonder if price wise I'm better off getting one of Dreadbox's great semi modular units like the Erebus and then perhaps later picking up some of the new modules to serve as effects to patch that through. Like sure these are more affordable as singular modules but does that price really compared when you'll need a few modules to start off with
even considering getting the lil' erebus and effects modules to apply to that instead of their vco
when in doubt: don't go eurorack
we need to get the word out about these. could you try and get Andrew Huang to review them as well?
Dystopia sounds like my broken virus, always good to hear drums with modular. Sounded good. Delay one would pair well with the neutron. extra lfo and a nicer delay
Yeah! Bob eats and bleeps like crazy :D Speaking of affordable Eurorack: Any chance of getting your hands on a Behringer Eurorack Go unit?
This still looks complicated, but really interesting...how do I get started?
noir et blanc vie has a great introductory series so does andrew huang
@@BoBeats thanks for the info!
Try VCV Rack too. Microbrute is a great semi-modular synth too.
Hi Bo! I watched your review and it became interesting to me, because the modules are connected to Novation Mk3, how is the Launchpad connected with the modules? ... Thank you for your reviews! Aleksei.
I am just using the Launchpad as a midi interface connected to the Mutant Brain from Hexinverter. I have a review of that one too. But you can ofc sequence eurorack from the launchpad sequencer too. Ive done it.
@@BoBeats ruclips.net/video/DKSdndvDw2I/видео.html
I've founded it! Thank you Bo.
I Dig that beat!
Yo Bo, been a long time, hope all is well on your side. I hear it's recommended to close open space in your euro case at least with cardboard, best from Austria!
So, what about the sound of the VCO and the VCF?
Talent. The modules are ok. What you're hearing is talent.
Links? Prices? These look quite interesting and as you say a great starting point for someone starting to build out a modular system, or like me extending a semi modular (ie Neutron) system
Never mind, just found the link in the description. Buried among your social links. Hmmmmnn.
very cool modules!
Do you have a video explaining offsets, i have the utopia model but im a little confused how to use the offset to move voltages from +/-5v to the 0-10v. Is this more important with pitch related CVs? The idea was it would allow my neutron to talk to the nifty bundle.
i dont have any such video unfortunately
@@BoBeats no worries, thanks for the reply. Love your vids
my guess is that you would have to send both your +/-5v signal and another signal to an attenumixer. The second signal is your offset. If the offset value is in the middle (0? that doesn’t make sense to me) then your signal will have the 5v offset and your output will be 0-10. Maybe I’m wrong, I dunno
@@uyscuti5376 yeah this is sort of how it makes since to me too, now the utopia already generates an offset out of the attenuverter 3 if nothing is plugged in. So with its lfo(+/-5) can be offset upto 0 to 10 (i think), this def changes the range of compatibility of the signals. It when i start using inputs one and two where im not sure about the concept of offsetting those signals, i guess related particularly to pitch tracking.
When i send the output into the wave selector cv on my neutron i get a little more of a visual understanding, because i can see how the lfo and offset changes the leds.
Hope this is somewhat coherent. Cheers.
the ataxia is interesting for me!
Oh man! This groove at the beginning is heavy! Makes you wanna shake your body!
I want to make a full song out of it
Hello and thanks for the review ! Which drum machine are u using ?
What is the price point?
they are cheap for being dreadbox but you can get alot of modules in the same price range on ebay now .. and by the way I dont like those colors but I know some people like them heheh
Can anyone explain how to know what modes Ataxia is in?
I dont think you can. Easiest i found was to just press right button again two times to see if it blinks or stay lit
BoBeats I guess all last night I was in mod mode 😂 I didn’t realize the lfo mode ran with out a trigger signal. I’m very new to hardware and modular but I’m making the plunge! Keep up the great videos bo! Mad bass love!
😻
And I thought DIY modules were inexpensive*, my word! $100-120? Damn.
*obvious exceptions, some are absolutely ridiculously expensive.
Saving time is a great idea however these modules deserve 15min each ^^
Damn these all seem really good value
Those colors.. why?
Why do a demo of these and then hook them up to a bunch of other equipment. This is useless. "Oh here's what these modules can do if you have a ton of other stuff too." Absolutely pointless. If you're going to demo the dreadbox modules, then stick to the dreadbox modules.
Functionality wise they're great, but I wouldn't even contemplate them in those colours. Looks like a child's 'my first modular' set...
