His prose is soooo strong. I was really hooked reading it. Every word is so punchy and strong. Very Howard-like. And he constructed a great connection between stories, characters.
Jim mentioning he did not want to leave the reader with blue balls (min 19:45) is the greatest message a creator/writer can give a reader!! That is why Jim is killing it on this title.
I have not caught up to the arc yet, but I am LOVING what I am hearing. So clever, the ideas expressed by Jim... And Doug's art? You gotta be kidding me... it is drop dead beautiful! I like how the art shows Conan as younger, like the original story did. Franzetta's art is breath taking, but the Conan in the painting does make him look more grizzled from multiple battles, and he does look in his late 30's instead of being just out of youth. Can't wait to catch up to all of Titan's comics and SSOC's. Thank you CTB for posting these wonderful interviews. Stay safe my friend, but always stay Savage! ~ Son of Crom
I wouldn't panic about reiterating classic R.E.H, mate. Shakespeare continues to be produced, hell, the Greeks are still producing four thousand year old yarns. Keep writing, my man. We love it👏👏👏
I am loving this story arc. I cannot express how much I appreciate the thought and heart Jim, Doug, Robert and the rest of the team put into this Conan run at Titan. I have always loved Conan but have fallen off and on over the years. Now I cannot wait for something Conan to hit the shelves now. As a Conan fan I feel spoiled right now. It is still at the top of my list for title of the year! Thank you!!
This may be less crazy than it sounds. In The Phoenix on the Sword, Conan calls Crom gloomy and dull, then says something like, "The ways of the Aesir were more to my liking." It's a bold stroke. Conan would be proud of your courage.
At least with Crom you know where you stand at all times. He gives you all you need to survive and thrive from birth, and from then on it's up to you. That's a really healthy relationship to have with a god IMO. Instead of asking for favours/miracles from a deity, Conan has complete confidence in himself to overcome any obstacle he encounters.
I always liked this story. Both the Frost Giant’s Daughter & Conan have bad intentions. The inspiring part of the story is Conan’s will to survive no matter the circumstances. He literally escapes death and Ymir lets him go back to the realm of the living.
We at Conan HQ are always working behind the scenes to try and bring the world's greatest barbarian back to the big screen in the form he deserves and is true to him. We can't share anything yet, but this channel will be the first place this will get announced so stay tuned!
I’ve said this on instagram but in regards to a Conan video game can we please get a dark souls style Conan video game where you dungeon dive and face challenges and bosses but overcome the adversity! It can take place across all of hyborea!
@@conanthebarbarianofficial thank you 🙏🏾 unreal engine 5! An aesthetic style that’s like hell blade meets dark souls! But dark souls style combat! Make it gritty and have a lot of impact!
@@JimZub yes my ideal vision of the game would have a character creator or you strictly play as Conan. If you choose Conan himself you can’t go wrong! And please make it gritty and there’s so many creatures and demons and monsters and human enemies he can encounter that basically there’s a never ending amount of story and situations you can do!
@@conanthebarbarianofficial last thing I will say about a dark souls style Conan game! If you guys do go through with it and execute it well, you’re going to create an entire new generation of Conan fans! It truly has the potential to revitalize the series even beyond a show or movie in this age!
This is my least favorite Conan story, and IMO, one of the reasons that the series got dropped at Amazon. They were adapting The Frost Giant's Daughter as the pilot. Being my least favorite Conan story, I liked seeing this done differently. This would have been better with Doug and Jim on the same call. Braithwaite is an effing artist. There are lots of definitions for "art," but one of the distinctions between art and product has to be that the artist thinks about more than the reader or viewer experiences directly. Braithwaite does this. It's like Hemingway's iceberg principle. There are things under the surface that affect how you perceive the art. I love hearing him talk about the thought that goes into his drawings.
Wish we could have them on the same call, but with vastly different time zones and jam packed schedules this is what we could arrange, perhaps in the future!
His instinct regarding Ymir is really, really good. I also think every personification of a god/goddess is boring and just causes the story teller, the painter to do some kind of escalation that will break your story flow in the mid term.
I'm sorry Jim, i wish i could read single issues but for 1 I can't stand the suspense of waiting for the next chapter. Secondly single issues are just too fragile and have an insubstantial feel in my hands. I cut my teeth on graphic novels and TPBs and thats what im comfortable with
Rob is still with us but he has moved to Savage Sword! He found the pace of drawing a monthly comic to be not what he wanted but drawing a couple Savage Sword comics a year to be more his pace. We always aim to keep our artists happy here at Conan HQ 💪

Very appropriate to the frozen north as well! 🧊🧊

Conan put his faith into sharpened steel
But he found out later he was wrong.

By Crom! Great interview from Shawn, I really like that Doug was included in this and that we got to hear from the artist, it's kinda rare to see.
We hope to have more artists on as well!
Jim Zub writing + Doug Braithwaite art style... BY CROM! BadAss!!!!!

The CROM! censorship is brilliant. Haha
Has it become a necessary evil? Not having it, free the boobies ✊

Great stuff.. awesome show
Great work Jim and Doug!
Should definitely do Beyond the Black River which is one of my favorites
Slasher! 🐕
Really love the comics so far.
It's interesting to take about the original Robert E Howard Frost Giant Daughter story but enjoyable can wait see more in the future.
I love how Jim Zub, wants to make Crom some being that can not be draw. A sort of in the background, but to know he is there.
Loving the Conan content, keep up the great work of Crom..

Can you speak on the future of live action Conan? Last I heard Amazon was producing something but scrapped it due to "toxic masculinity"
True. And then they twisted the Wheel of Time story to be female centric and lgb.
