I recognize a lot of the creatures fought by Conan to have appeared to be from another dimension. So in my humble opinion these are not aliens from other planets, but bizarre beings from a different dimension whose fantastical anatomies are adaptations to strange dimensions. This is in line with the relativism used by Freemasonry that perfect function determines perfect form: perfection defined by Freemasonry as 'best designed for its purpose': meaning it doesn't matter how twisted and bizarre a creature looks as long as it is effective in its purpose. So these are not aliens but inter-dimensional beings that might have been worshiped as gods, and got killed by Conan?

It was Frank Frazetta's Conan paintings on the Lancer paperbacks which compelled me to read the entire Conan the Barbarian series. The problem came later when I started to read the life of Robert E. IMO, either modern audiences don't understand Conan at all, or I don't. Conan Exiles is a game for murder hobos, isn't it? As for the dong slider, my entry to Conan was as an adolescent, and I think pulp era characters like Tarzan, the Shadow, Doc Savage, Sherlock Holmes, and Conan should be accessible for kids, like Star Trek and Tolkien. I don't mind a more Heavy Metal version of sword and sorcery existing, but to me that's not really Conan.
