Thank you. I'm considering buying Muse because of the brainwave graphs. Your eyes open alpha is between 65 - 70 dB. This is over 1 million microvolts. Are these numbers so high because the dry electrodes are picking up noise?

Super interesting use of AI! I actually used the graphs you showed when combining the Muse headband with the NeoRhythm and the conclusions were quite interesting: it seemed to conclude what you did but also that the NeoRhythm increased the variability in the brainwaves

Really cool! Especially useful for enthusiasts outside of the psychology and neuroscience disciplines to get some extra capability from their data that would be otherwise less accessible. Very keen to follow your work on the AI Mind Reading Companion tool. As a university club, real-time qualitative AI brainwave analysis would be an amazing "try-on an EEG" demo to pull off at events and inspire newcomers to the field.

I agree Cody! Big unlock for data analysis. Pattern recognition and explanations are incredibly valuable. I’d love to see more videos of your testing and analysis of different protocols. I’d love your interpretation in a video of all the brainwaves and why we believe some are “better”. Thank you for all your NeuroTech leadership.

It can monitor peoples mental health for an unbiased opinion if someone is manic in manic depression, or depressed, maybe. Great to do at home for a "heads up" information to the patient to do in the morning.

The consistency issues (like with the peak alpha) are not comforting in the least.... But the explanations are really cool. I really could have used ChatGPT's explanations of workflow at the beginning of my PhD when I struggled with real-world signal processing. Once ChatGPT can explain math well, it's over 😂

This is gonna be a big help because there are very limited information about it while 80% of people who've tired it believe it was like a miracle specially for people with mental health issues however. Sometimes things are too good to be true they might be real.

I have the Muse headset and would love to have software that's monitoring me throughout my workday. I'm a software developer and as most of my work is project based, I'm not necessarily tied to a 9to5, but more of a login/logout within reason as long as you meet your deadlines. So, I would love to wear the Muse when I WFH and feed it to ChatGPT or other LLM (local would be great) where it can monitor my brain realtime and chime in via my PC speakers and say... "ok, you're not really in the right frame of mind for this right now" Take a break.
A local LLM would be best, so I can have it look at my screen without worrying about exposing my work data to Sam Altman or the Zuck.
Is this doable with where we are today?

Is a "Navy trained psychiatrist" different to a civilian trained psychiatrist?

    • @CodyRallMD

No not really. Same training. Probably more exposure to PTSD, TBI and brain imaging techniques in war veterans than most training programs though.

With some technical skill and the right equipment, it is possible to open the Muse device and replace the lithium battery. There are older videos available on RUclips that demonstrate this process, at least for the Muse 1 headband.

ChatGPT is known to make mistakes, anything you get out of it, you need to verify so using your own knowledge as reference helps. AI can also hallucinate and make up stuff that is not actually true so take what it gives you with a grain of salt. ChatGPT can even citate fake resources 😂.
