What did you mean with the disc for the season was region locked in the Expanse collection or was it a disc with extra features or was it a disc with episodes on it, sorry didn't understand?

The Expanse is one of my favorite syfy series..right up there with Stargate SG1 and Star Trek Strange New World.
I agree with you on Columbo. It's a great show. I love to hear that the video quality and sound is so good on this release.
The Monster Squad is so damn amazing movie. All the practical effects were done by Stan Winston and his team.

Im loving the Leave It to Beaver Blu-Ray. The picture is incredible & there's sooo much content.
THIS is the video I’ve been waiting for! I spent a fair amount of money based on your review of the Japanese Blu-Ray Boxset of Columbo so, when I found out Kino Lorber was releasing it in a newly remastered set with a ton of new bonus content, I was ready to buy the new set Day #1…UNTIL I heard the commentaries and bonus content were gutted.
I don’t know if I can thoroughly express just how disappointed I was. I’m glad to hear that the new release looks and sounds better than the Japanese set but with as much I spent on it, I’m just not sure I want to shell out more for this release when the biggest selling point for me were the extras they cut out.
I’m also curious as to why Kino Lorber split their Columbo release into the 1970’s series and the rest to come next year when it looks like L'Atelier d'Images is releasing the complete Columbo Bluray boxset with posters and pins on Amazon France on December 5th.
Wow some seriously good releases coming out. Even Columbo has me intrigued. 😎👍

Farscape's release history is a nightmare I remember people paying exorbitant amounts of money for the OOP Farscape Starburst DVDs (that replaced the OOP original DVDs). When it was finally released complete to Blu-Ray (A&E) in 2011, it was missing 'Peacekeeper Wars' (I have that edition), and was upconverted. And then there was the 20th Anniversary Edition (still upconvert, but included 'Peacekeeper Wars'). I probably won't quadruple (quintuple?) dip for the latest edition. It sounds like the only change was shifting the extras to a separate disc.

Columbo and Leave It to Beaver are two of my favorite tv shows of all-time, so these blu-ray sets went straight to the top of my must-have list as soon as they were announced. I hate that the announced extras were 86'ed on the Columbo set, but I'm thrilled that the picture quality appears to be astounding according to your review. Curious: Did the isolated music and effects tracks still make it as an extra on this set?
I've been enjoying the solid presentation of LITB on the new blu-ray, BUT I'm definitely keeping my Shout DVDs of the series because of the commentaries.

Have yu had any issues with WB 4k films? I have freezing or jumping skipping problems only on WB disks. The Meg 1 and 2 didn’t skip, neither did justice league Snyder cut. A couple of the superman films did from the big box set too.
Any advice you can give would be appreciated, thanks

“The Peacekeeper Wars” was included in the 2019 Sony Blu-ray release as well. That’s the one I have, and it was only $50. The clamshell case and menus are a mess, though. I think every episode is listed on each disc, even if that episode isn’t on said disc. Kinda like the early seasons of “Game of Thrones.” Makes no sense.

I was never so excited for a release as I was for the Columbo, but then they had to cut out the audio commentary tracks for every episode over some sort of undisclosed issue, and then I got very sad. Still it’s great that the image looks better.
Same. The Kino Lorber Columbo boxset with the originally announced commentaries and extras were my most highly anticipated release of 2023 as a massive Columbo fan. I spent nearly $300 for the Japanese Bluray boxset so, when I heard that the series was remastered and getting better picture at 1080p and improved sound, that was wonderful but the big factor for me already having it on Bluray in 1080i, was the treasure trove of new commentaries and extras.
So many things absolutely don’t make sense to me about why they gutted this release. I assume before they spent a significant amount of money on collecting those commentaries that took over 6 months, they had to have cleared some process to get the legal approvals, no? Why would they expend all those resources to collect it all unless they had the approvals they needed? If there was some issue at the last minute then was there no way to salvage ANY of it?!
More recently, I heard that the content from the commentaries was going to be made into a book for public release. If it can be released in a book why the hell can’t it be on the discs?! NOTHING about this makes sense and as a fan of the series, it’s absolutely infuriating to know these sources exist and had the opportunity to be enjoyed and preserved on the very discs containing the best presentation of the show we’ll likely ever see on physical media.
The fans of Columbo keep this series alive and share it with new generations. Without the support of fans like us, these shows would be forgotten. They owe us real answers and we deserve better.

"Dumbed down" = preserving the filmmakers intended look of a movie, without gimmicks altering how it should appear. DolbyVision = like watching a movie with sunglasses on, without even the advantages that 3D offers.
( In case anyone wonders why 4K hasnt caught on with the public.)
I hate backhanded compliments and I never understand guilty pleasures. Why would you feel guilty about enjoying something? That said, I'm a huge fan of the first Resident Evil movie series. I do have the previous 4K boxset, and I would like to see a comparison between both releases 🥲
