@@adversitycartoons4050 It's crazy. He is easily one of the best actors or actresses working today that still don't have an Oscar. I'm pretty sure he will get a Best Actor Award some time by 2030.
I agree. Jake seemed a bit out of his depth there, but his eyes widened at the concepts presented by Sagas, Mister Miracle, and Kraven's Last Hunt. I do believe him when he said something in these books will inspire me. I figure that's gonna be his on flight reading for a while.

I hate Jake's performance because he was so believable and scheming in Far From Home, and I love that I hate him because it shows that he was effective with his role!
If you like his dedication to horrible characters, watch Nightcrawler. I HATE THAT MOVIE but it's because it's so well done and Jake is literally shining as one of the worst humans I've ever seen on screen. He's such a good actor.
Thank you Coy, since you're love is so contagious, I've started binge reading comics, and this is the first episode where I've read most of the stuff you recommended, it's an awesome world :)
Great interview! I really appreciate how the interviewer provides great, in depth comic book knowledge but is also able to ask interesting questions about Jake’s life, process, and approach to acting. It’s a balance you don’t see very often.
This episode is truly showing of what coy brings to the table. Collider you guys are doing big things excited for the future. Congrats on the huge guest.
Mysterio in SpiderMan Far From Home was done amazingly. Those Mysterio scenes are straight from the comics more or less inspiration we would like more of that
Hey There During one one of those google autocomplete interviews him and the rest of the cast being interviewed all laughed when “is Peter Parker Jewish?” Showed up and then they were like “no he’s not Jewish lol why would he be Jewish” which just shows a lack of understanding of the character since Peter’s Jewish, working-class background is part of who he *is*
Nicole White the fact that peter Parker is Jewish is more just the reflection that Stan lee put on the character seeing that Stan lee is Jewish. It isn’t a pivotal part of the character. It is barely referenced in the comics (Spiderman on multiple occasions celebrates Christmas).
The host is clearly the star here. Great job interviewing. Jake is entertaining but disengaged from the stories of the comics which are truly fascinating.
You should read Deadly Class. One of the best written and drawn comics on the planet right now. Brilliant stuff. Also the show on SyFy is really great (directed by the Russo brothers too, who’ve done the avengers movies) great stuff
I really hate how you guys put up the total price of what the guests are purchasing. It’s scary how much they are spending on a few books and I bet it scares away potential collectors.

Jake is the man! I couldn't help but laugh @12:22 b/c I know it's gonna inspire him to throw those in the garbage but honestly he's an amazing actor and I go out to watch anything he's in!
Could you please change the title to Comicbook shopping? Stan Lee once said he did not like the term "comic book" written like that, as two separated words because it means "funny book". He said the correct way to write it was comicbooks. "They're not funny books, they're not *comic* , *books* . They are *comicbooks* !" -Stan Lee
Even if he did pay you act like 170 dollars is a lot of money to Jake Gyllenhaal lmao. Dude is a fuckin millionaire. Also if he didn’t want them he could just sell them or donate them.
I still like this video but I wish it was a bit more of Jake telling what he wants and then you recommending stuff based on that but like I said I still liked the episode

Jake Santek and that’s why I said you should watch the one with Jacob. He buys everything he’s recommended. Here it looks like jake is hesitant in buying stuff. It’s awkward
Jake Santek and that’s what I’m saying. Jacob feels obligated to buy the comics and jake is just doing it for the camera. Jake doesn’t have that much interest in comics and it’s obvious. Jacob showed a little more appreciation for it but he still didn’t look interested.

The last issue of walking dead for sure
The $500 AKIRA full color omibus or was it $900??? And Red Robin and Stephanie Brown Batgirl TPB.
All of them look like my jam, and keep hearing Saga is unlike anything else
Seeing Deadly Class here made me sad all over again since the TV got cancelled. Can you get Jake to put a word in to the Russos not to give up on it
Just bought copies of "Scarlett 1 and 2" based off this. Hope they're as good as he described.
Damn, the quality of guests just keeps upping. Gyllenhaal is legitimately one of the best working actors, imo.
Surprised they managed to score him. The quality of guests is gonna stay here, I think.
Strange thing that the man hasn’t gotten an Oscar yet.
I agree

I put him up there with bale and DiCaprio tbh
It’s clear Jake doesn’t really understand the comic book stuff but he very clearly respects it and wants to try to understand it

ya skirt. No, they buy the books he chooses for him
You don't know anything about him

I love how enthusiastic this guy is about comics
Ok so i gotta ask the important question:
Who pays for the comics?
Studio? Collier? Guest?
The studio or comic book shop. It’s all for tv magic to make it look like they are paying for them. Kristian brought it up today on Collider Live
I always wondered that too. So there is no official transaction then. I don't care either way.
ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTIONS haha always thought it was weird they just grab all those comics then tells the guest "sooo you're paying" 😂
