Red Velvet debut under SM Entertainment on the 1st of August 2014 with the song Happiness with 4 members Irene, Seulgi,Wendy and Joy. In 2015 with their comeback Automatic and Ice Cream Cake their youngest member Yeri joined the group
The reason hasn't been stated as to why she joined in 2015 but people have said it's might be because of one these reasons:
:She was too young in 2014 (most likely)
:The former CEO (Lee Sooman) really liked her and allowed her to join the group (could be true)
:Red Velvet was supposed to debut in 2015 but made it earlier because of company issues. (I don't think this one is true)

im gonna be honest with you. its 2020. there shouldnt be a specif "genre" for a song like billy eilish has said. im catching different vibes on their songs. lets take the weekend for example. doesnt have a genre especially his newest album that is god-tier and the greatest thing to hear and experience in 2020. so yeah specifying the genre of a group is not attractive to me. let me enjoy and guess the rhythm without generalizing into pop genre,which i both dislike a nd like.

Since you are watching Red Velvet, I recommend you react to their video "Be Natural". It was the debut music video and it was a cover of a song done by a much earlier girl group. It's a great video. Also, their most popular song/music video is "Bad Boy". When you react to the "Bad Boy" music video also react right after it to the English version of the song. They didn't make a music video for the English version but they always perform the English version of "Bad Boy" when they do live performances in the U.S.. They did however do a music video for their English version of "Really Bad Boy" so that's another you should react to. :-)

Red Velvet are well known for dabbling in every genre known to mankind and owning it. I love all their rnb-esque tracks and their concepts, they can do girl crush, cutesy and goth all in one mv and it would feel like you've watched 5 different mvs. Red Velvet, Twice and Blackpink really give the boy groups a run for their money.

Quite late, I realize... but that's not it.
In early March of 2017, SM and Red Velvet gave fans 6 weeks to submit ideas for fandom names. "Revels" was the front runner.
A perfect mix of "Red" and "Velvet" and the word "Revel" itself is a seldom used English word meaning "to celebrate."
. But because they didn't want any confusion with Dean's fandom ( who were already called "Rebels" ) "luv" was added to the end to signify the love between the girls and their fans.
The fandom name was announced late March of that year on V-live.
The similarity to the French word "Reve" which means "to dream" was noticed about 4 or 5 months later. Yeri really liked the word she she named their robot mascot "Reve."

As a Blink, I really like Red Velvet. They offer a refreshing and soulful vibe. They also happen to be very good friends with BlackPink. You should try watching to a video compilation of both groups interacting with one another. The respect and admiration they have is so endearing. My favorite Red Velvet song is Bad Boy. And a shout out to Red Velvet's main vocal, Wendy. She's originally from Toronto and attended a few years of schooling in Minnesota. She was seriously injured while the group was preparing to perform at an award show. It's currently under investigation to see whether legal actions should be taken for the obvious negligence that caused her injury, which consisted of a broken hip and fractured jaw I believe.

I believe the whole album is actually a combination of the previous two mini albums with the 4 news songs from "The Finale". Its called that because last year they had 3 comebacks throughout the year with the title The Reve Festival Day 1, Day 2, and The Finale. Anyway, all the songs on the album are great and worth a listen IMO. It's a great example of how varied they're discography is too.

for me personally, this is the best so far from this group. from the tune, the dance, the outfits, the looks ... it's perfect. sadly, one of the members got heavily injured due to an accident that occurs when they perform before the new year. they cannot promote this song with full force, which is kinda frustrated me. fortunately, they still killing it. they are a very close friend to Blackpink as well. I'm kinda ashamed that I never put interest in them, even when I saw their debut as the little sisters of K-pop's biggest girl group, SNSD, and the Kpop Queen BoA. you should also check out their latest red carpet outfits.

Yess the reve festival series are all the comebacks they made in 2019. There are three albums:
The reve festival day 1: the title song is Zimzalabim.
The reve festival day 2: the title song is umpah umpah.
The reve festival finale: with Pyscho.
They are a very unique group with a lot of versatility, probably the most versatile girl group of the third generation.
They have two sides. Red (songs more cute/poppy) and Velvet (songs more elegant/rnb/ballads).
They have one of the best discographies in kpop industry and billboard crowned them as the 'best idol group alive' for their impressive wide-ranging discography and for explore a lot of genres, concepts and styles. So you won't listen another song of them with the same vibe, you won't expect anything haha.
You should react to bad boy if you want keep listening velvet side or maybe try umpah umpah (red side) or zimzalabim (mix of red and velvet sides) for to complete the reve festival series!

Check out their Bad Boy song, its older than this one but still a bop. They have a red side which is more pop and velvet side is more r&b like this song. Also check out more Twice songs! Also Mamamoo "Hip" is amazing! Also Everglow is a rookie group that debuted last year. "Bon Bon Chocolate, Adios, and Dun Dun" Dun dun just came out today! Unfortunately, Wendy(blonde) was injured at a stage performance in December so they aren't promoting much due to her serious injuries. Kpop is so much fun though isn't it? Kpop a rabbit hole that you fall into and never find your way out. But you don't even care to leave lol ;)
Red Velvet are considered to have 2 sides, the Red being their bright, poppy, upbeat side and Velvet being their moodier, darker, R&B side. That said, you never truly know what you're going to get when they come back other than there will be something a little weird about it.
Their most popular Red side song is probably Red Flavor which is almost an official Korean summer anthem.
Their most popular Velvet side song is probably Bad Boy which is the song that actually drew a lot of attention their way.
Their B-sides are excellent, better than their title tracks IMO but if you're sticking with the MVs I would point you in the direction of the two above or Peekaboo which is more of a Red song but has a brilliant Velvet-esque MV.
