So it's been just slightly over a year since u posted this and I wanted to let you know, you kinda saved me tonight. I was MID-CHECKOUT on the Lume, simultaneously watching your video and you answered every lingering question I had about it. Immediately after buying the Lume, I cancelled and changed my order to the Ulanzi before the Lume was shipped. Thank you!
If I didn't stumble across this video when trying to find an honest, straight forward comparison to the Lume Cube Pro, I would not have made the decision to go with VIJIM. I decided to go all the way "BONUS ROUND" status and got the R316. The light is DDDDAAANNNGGEERRROOUUSSSS!!! I'm beyond satisfied with the purchase. Having up to 12000k Kelvin with 2 lights for that price is like having Quentin Tarantino in your phone contacts list. Thank you bro, I almost bought into the hype!!!
Tube Douche. Yup, I'm totally stealing this. I totally agree with you about the price of this thing. When I saw some of those videos on this light, I actually felt embarrassed for the "Tube Douche". No one in their right mind would spend that kind of money on a small RGB light. I also really like the Ulanzi gear.
Just came across this and subscribed. Love the honesty - it's a breath of fresh air from the cash grab content I've been seeing on these kinds products - keen it up man
I watched your video and I was in the market for a couple of led panels. I came so close to purchasing the lume cube panels but decided to try these out instead. So I waited to make any comment before I tried them. Boy they are bright. I shoot moody product portraits and I get tired of gelling up my strobes for just a kiss of light and I tell you that these are perfect. Worth more than what I paid for them. Plus the build quality is pretty good too, there's some weight to them and are good quality.
I just got the VL196 as well prior to coming across this video, for USD40, I am happy with it - I don't see a reason to pay more for more expensive portable lights that cost 2-3x more.
Thank you for this man. I’ve been looking for months for indoor/outdoor interview lighting setups, and 4 of those would get me everything I need in most situations, and I can realistically run and gun with this over just one Aputure 100x that is going to be a pain to move around in the fast paced environment I work in. Will they be as good? Idk. Can it get the job done though? Yes!
last year, i found this video right before i was about to buy a lume cube. a year later, i'm still so grateful that i found this video because the quality and build of Ulanzi plus it being HALF the cost of lume cube was just so much more attractive to me that i ended up getting two of these bad boys for the cost of one lume cube. THANKS AGAIN
Thank you SO MUCH FOR THIS. I lost my lume cube - it originally cost me $80 with the bulb diffuser, and now it's like $200 for the kit that I used to have (like wut). Checking out the panels, I'm amazed that a light could cost so much. I'm going with the Ulanzi lights, best bang for the buck!
Thank you so much for your video. I was about to drop a good chunk of change on the lights before checking RUclips and fortunately running into your video. I am impressed with the lights I saw and hope they are very good. Thanks again!
So direct and informative; I came here checking on reviews for the lume cube. Thank you, new instant sub. Thank you. PS your little girl I believe is the cutest with her cheeks.
I'm so late to the conversation...I looked up VIJIM VL196 RGB LED Video Light on amazon and many reviewers complain that their units stopped working or the back LCD screen went black after a few weeks or months...I'm trying to decide between this VIJIM and the Lume Cube Go...I really don't need RGB...just a good light with a long lasting internal battery that can throw some strong light once in a while. Mostly I would use it at 50% or less-don't want to blind people..now in 2023 which one would be a good one with a long lasting internal battery and decent colour accuracy? bicolor . Thanks.
I mostly agree with you but there are certain things regarding the LCP that are superior...in particular the build quality is better with a full aluminum chassis that is really durable, a better interface and screen, and more accurate colors. But definitely is a bit overpriced for sure. I wish the LCP was around $100, maybe $120, I think that would be a fair price.
Thanks a lot 🙌🏼 I started toy photography a few months ago and I was searching for light's but Lume cubes are really expensive, you just saved me a lot of trouble 🙏🏼
Just checking in after 5 months with the Ulanzi. BLUF: They died a slow death. First, they stopped holding a charge. Then, the max output decreased. Last, a section of the lights stopped producing ANY light. All of this after about 30 days of working perfectly! Now, I have to eat the cost of these and still purchase a set of lights that will last. Might work for low usage, short periods. Definitely NOT professional grade. Wow. Great info and good for you not being afraid to speak the truth. I was just about to get the LC Panel Pro. I think I'll try this low risk (price wise) alternative now instead. Thanks again.
A great, honest video. You helped me save a huge amount for a comparatively similar product to Lume which I was considering. I've liked and subscribed, Thanks!
@@nVuFilms on topic now, i have a viltrox RB08 led light and its really good.. i even drop it in water by accident recording my fish and it still work. I agree the lumicube its all marketing and its really overprice.

Great video, the manner in which it was presented actually helped put great context on what you said. About to go ahead & buy the new VL120 for $30 USD. My Zoom calls at work are gonna be lit!
While I don’t doubt you pay for marketing and hype, on the other hand pointing two lights at your face doesn’t tell the whole story either. What is the run time on the battery? What is the color accuracy of the light vs the display? What is the consistency of production; if you buy multiple lights will they output the same color light? What is the real light output with a meter and not your eyeball? I have watched many head to head tests on RUclips and came away confident based on the creator’s conclusion after reviewing the data. This video, not so much.
Looks decent but you didn’t talk about battery life. The manufacturer seems to indicate ~2h. Lume Cube claims to last like 15h at 1% power. Does this do that as well?
Mine doesn't turn on anymore. No response or LCD display after connecting the charging cable either. Bought it last month and only used on couple of occasions.
I'm having a problem with the suction sticking on the curved back of the iMac . Also , the desktop is 20 + inches so I need a tripod that extends taller . Any suggestions? Thank you in advance , and for the great review .
I agree man...there are so many lights that look identical and if a light gives me 80% of the functionality for a fraction of the. cost...guess what I picking it up. These are small enough to lose..so a $30 vs a $200 light...I'd buy it again 6 times before I get a LumeCube.
Most of these ulanzi lights have been upgraded and no longer offer a diffuse or honey comb in the package ....now that sucks... they dont even give you a option to buy them separately

thanks for the review! That light is so much of what I have been looking for, perfect price too! I agree with the Bluetooth. I have a Bluetooth remote for my iPad and sometimes it just doesn't fire because the reception is bad, so annoying!

I'm thinking Ulanzi's got a good future! Haha I like your unplanned videos.
