YESS!!! I actually wrote about how undertale changed my life for a major grade essay last week HELP
I'm gonna copy and paste it here!
“The shadow of the ruins looms above. You’re filled with determination.”
Sometimes, a piece of media can change your life. Especially when you discover it when you’re young and you’re learning what you want to do and how to navigate life. Through its themes and messages, it can change the way you view the world and treat others. Or, it can light a spark within you - to create something of your own, something that could maybe change other’s lives too. This is what the indie RPG game, “Undertale”, was for me.
Undertale, made by Toby Fox, was released in 2015… Except I wouldn’t actually find out about it until 2018. At that point, I was just 9 years old, but I quickly fell deeply in love with the game. A heartwarming story (or a soul-crushing one, depending on how you played the game), extremely lovable characters, an amazing soundtrack, and all the interesting underlying secrets and themes - there could be a trillion things said about this game, and I could really just be here all day…
So, let’s skip to the good bit: why is Undertale so important to me? In general, Undertale taught me the power of treating people with kindness; the value of friendship, mercy, and forgiveness. I’ve never forgotten these values, and I still try to live by them every day of my life. To be there for people, to try to understand the things they go through, to value your close friends more than anything. If I never came across Undertale, I don’t think I’d have turned out the same way. In fact, Undertale actually had influenced me in another way as well: It started my love for characters, storytelling, and fictional worlds or universes.
If you know anything about the Undertale fandom… it might be all the hundreds of “AUs” or “Alternate Universes” that have sprouted up over time. Undertale inspired its fans, imbued them with a creative spark that made them start creating their own idea or variation of Undertale. Hundreds of people made their own art, started branching out and creating their own stories, characters, comics, animations, coding their own games and boss fights even- solely out of their love for the game. And I joined in as well! Kind of. I was still around just 9-10 years old, but despite that, I was inspired to start creating a story, make my own characters, and my own art, etc! It was my first ever interest to influence me to create something of my own, something more. It was the start of my life-long love of creating.
Undertale has influenced me in more ways than one, either through important values of mercy & kindness or in starting my love of making things of your own. Even though I could’ve already had those traits regardless as a child, this ‘indie RPG sensation’ was the one to add the fuel to my fire. I wouldn’t be the same person I am today without this game. I know it’s special to thousands of other people as well, but the time between 2018-2019 where it influenced me the most - means everything to who I am now.

Undertale was so important to me. But sadly I was spoiled about it but it was still an amazing game when I played it I wish I could have experienced it myself but Undertale shaped me as a person showed my first exposure to a fandom. (Glad I didn't encounter the bad people as I a little child would have been scarred). Undertale sparked my interest in video game creation and then later on sparking my interest in composing. Now here I am writing a comment here having multiple Undertale songs bouncing around in my head.

Same for me it was also a great experience but a bit different
I discovered it in 5th grade but i was not really interested in RPG turn by turn at this moment , until i decided to give it a try during vacations instantanly liked it the story , the originality , the musics etcetera all helped to make my days better when i was bullied in 4th grade for well my condition . Even if third grade was by itself a far better year , i always liked to finish a already good day with somes chat about the game with a friend and to be honest my passion about Undertale is even why i learned english so even about school grades (english mainly) it helped a lot.

Undertale is amazing. But I do love the fan fictions to. My favorite is dream tale. So much to the point i am writing my own. New hope tale.

By the way, I'm really sorry you went through so many hard times in your life, and I pray that things get better for you.

You remind me of another small discussion channel I watch. She's called Boon Alina and she's made a few Undertale videos (like her theory on if Asgore is bisexual)
after watching some of your videos, I'm impressed by how much of your past you are able to recall and present in stories (heck, you have vivid memories from kindergarten?!) so I'm curious, would you say that you think about your past often?
I think about the past often because I have noting going on in the present 😂
My memories aren't really that good. For videos, I have google docs and I just add anything I remember whenever I do. Without that, I wouldn't remember anything lol
@@Takokatbackwards (isn't it like you've gotten into journaling on accident while making content xD) I still find it really cool that you're able to make them so entertaining considering that my memories (and not only mine) would be too boring to be showcased effectively in a storytime-like manner 🥲 (by the way, did you have any inspiration for those school storytime videos?)

For inspiration, I mean, I've watch a lot of other storytime animators, but I'm pretty much just sharing stories in a similar way to how I would tell them to a friend.

It will never cease to amaze me how so many people with such drastically different outlooks on reality can come together and collectively agree on a *video game* of all things.
Also yeah, Papyrus is definitely best character.
I love Undertale. A lot. The characters feel so alive, and the story can change entirely just with one choice. It’s too easy to get emotionally attached to the characters, and I honestly feel horrible for Asriel
