Nah. That's just nostalgia talking. The latest hitman games have much more variety when it comes to assassinations. The settings are more varied and look beautiful, the gameplay is smoother. There's less glitches and getting caught for no reason.
If you're talking about the newest 3, then yes, you should play the first two before the 3rd one. They all feel the same and look similar anyway, so it's not like you'll feel as if they're different games.

I want to see the ps2 trilogy games remade. Or have Silent Assassin, Blood Money and Absolution remade. Contracts was a sequel to SA but a remake of Codename #47 so maybe have a new story inside Absolution’s story as a prequel of 47 and see more open-world environments in Absolution, if possible.
hitman absolution is more likley a john wick game or you can call it as a fully action packed game but the problem is like hitman blood money there i no funny ways or different ways to kill enemy all you need to do is to reach is some shit doors and unlock them i am true hitman fan i have played all the hitman games from begening to end, and if you ask me i will say if you ONLY WANT TO KILL RATHER THAN EXPLORE NEW FUNNY ways and creative sleaths hitman absolution is for you. But if you need all those real hitman things go for hitman blood money, i told blood money because it can be run in any low end pc but if you have a good pc then go for Hitman(2016) and hitman 2 WHICH Is one of my favorate hitman titles and i would not tell hitman 3 beacause you need a high end system to run it and low or medium gamers can never play that
