STRANGE Otis Traction South Tower Elevators at The Westin, Seattle, WA

Now this was a rather strange elevator system! But a fun one, and definitely at this point more interesting and fun than the North Tower being they completely RUINED those!!!! These elevators originally were Otis Touch Sensitive, then modded in the 90s to Otis Elevonic 411M with Concave Sticky Series 2 fixtures, and just like the North Tower, these got modded (AGAIN for these) in 2017 with Otis Elevonic 411M with MAD Touch 2 Go fixtures with BS Moon door controls. However, what makes this elevator system strange is while 2 elevators are now completely modded, with new controllers, cabs, motors, fixtures, etc., unlike the North Tower, the call stations are still original (from their previous mod) and they still have some character because they also kept the lanterns the same, and the Vintage Otis Elevator Bells as well!!! Now, for what makes this elevator system strange, not just the fact the call stations, lanterns, bells and old dispatch system is intact, but they kept 1 elevator original!!!! (from the first mod) You're probably thinking the same thing I did at the time I recorded this, they just finished modding Elevator 2, and just hadn't started working on Car 3 yet, but NOPE!! According to this video, ( • Video ) This system has remained this way since at least December 2017!!!! 2 elevators are now completely modded again, while 1 still is the same from modernization #1, and still has the famous "Grandma" voice. Also, what I also found strange is the 2 completely modded elevators had their lanterns incorrectly facing up on 40, where the one that was original from the first mod had it correctly facing the right direction, down. Also, the newly modded elevator I rode had a weird glitch where its' doors shut, and then opened only to shut again immediately, so minor glitches, but I will say, I do like this mod more than on the North Tower. And no, it's not necessarily just the fact they kept 1 elevator original along with the lanterns and call stations, but the completely modded one I rode actually went FASTER than it did before mod, when the North Tower Elevators are now slower after mod. I was told the service elevators are original, either from building date or from the first mod, but I couldn't ride due to construction. Anyways with that being said, enjoy the video, of this rather Strange, Weird and Wonky, but FUN and Interesting Elevator System!!!

Modernized:
1st Modernization: Circa 1990s (Otis Concave Sticky Series 2 Elevonic 411M Mod with New Motors, Controllers, COPs, Call Stations and possible cab remodel) (Seen in video on 1st Elevator, and in video in description)
2nd Modernization: 2016-2017 (Otis Elevonic 411M Mod with MAD Touch 2 Go Touchscreen Fixtures and MAD BS door controls, new motors, cabs, and controllers on 2 elevators, but 1 elevator, the call stations, lanterns and disptach systems left as is from 1st Mod) (Seen in Video)
This is what I like about modding elevators. Keep the original call stations and lanterns, leave 1 elevator untouched, and modernize the other cab(s) in the same elevator system.

Interesting. I like this mod, besides the fact that they got rid of the voice. Definitely the original motors & door equipment & possibly controllers.
A 90s controller wouldn't work with a Touchscreen. The controller is for sure replaced. The motors could be original, but they seem faster now than the old ones. Doors also are much smoother too
The motors sound original. And it sounds like for sure the door interlocks are original.
And it probably works because the touchscreens would go to some sort of board & then that board would go to the controller. And destination dispatch normally works w/ original controllers so I don't see why this wouldn't either.

PotatoLift1 Well, they are as they have a keypad, but yes, the touchscreens aren't
Notice how the indicator on the modded elevator says "M" when it was actually on "MZ" and there is no "Z" key on the keypad.
It would be better if they got compass
They NEEDED Compass lol. And a Speed Increase too. With only 3 elevators for 40 floors, the service here SUCKS
This is more of a downgrade from what was here before. While they still are relatively fast I don’t like the touch2go at all. Also the door issues on the modded one makes the original ones look better. I don’t understand why they would bother to mod these either if they were already modded a while ago. They also managed to go from having a voice to no voice. All in all these mods both suck imo.
I agree tbh. The only reason I like this mod at all is cause they left one original, at least it looks like they are, and they still go fairly fast. Otherwise, I totally agree with you!!!
