    If that is a Jøtul stove, it's probably designed for both rear and top ventilation. Looks almost identical too the one I have at my small cabin here in Norway

    • @HomesteadJay

    No gasket needed , and what your planning on doing just go straight up then out , put a t with a clean out and go up your 3 feet , you can do it all with single wall pipe and where u go through shed use hardie backer board make two one for inside one for outside and won’t cost u much at all , 👍🏻

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  Год назад

      Hey Brother! I got two cement boards today and some bricks for the hearth. I think ill build a hearth in the corner. Im talking to a few people with different chimenys (market place and craigslist) Brand new material right out the roof was $750.... So im trying to sort some second hand material to save money lol.

  • @thomasgreene5750
    @thomasgreene5750 Год назад +2

    With the stove in operation, air will be drawn into the collar joint and out the flue. As a result, an absolutely tight joint is probably not essential, and it appears that there was no gasket when the collar was installed on the back of the stove, so you probably don't need a gasket.
    You might want to install the stove parallel to the back wall of the shop to get better clearance between the single-wall pipe and the wooden shelf on the side wall.

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  Год назад +2

      Hey Tom! All the shelves and saws within proximity will be moved I just havent done that step yet! Just trying to layout the stove and determine which chimey direction were going. Once we are situated on the chimney well move the bench and saws!

  • @thesmallwoodlot433
    @thesmallwoodlot433 Год назад +1

    I would extend up 3-4 feet before your 90 into the thimble, then install a tee with a clean-out bottom then extend up until you are 3 ft above the highest peak or obstacle within 10 feet of the chimney cap!
    P.s. time to sand and re finish your walls! Looks like exploding marvel mystery oil!😂😅😂😅

    Hey Jay! If you use a double wall black pipe and go straight up it should cut your clearance in half maybe look into that, it worked for me

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  Год назад

      Hey Shawn, single wall shows 18" from the back corner which is roughly where we are at now so well see! Double wall is more money but well see! Im trying to source chimeny parts now. Debating either through the wall or through the roof!
