Its been 5 years since engineering. And suddenly at 1AM my brain wants to know what's the real meaning of voltage. So had to RUclips it again lol.
yea fuck the education system, where all you need to focus on is to know the rules and how to solve problems but fuck even understanding it the way its meant to be
I looked at several videos and still don't really get it - I get the gravity analogy - the potential changes with height difference - but with electricty it's the same at every 2 points on the wire connected to the battery. How is that?
@@LiborTinka the electrons are forced to move when a force is applied. Using magnets to make those electrons do that for example. A battery is the same when not connected to anything. Just electrons hanging around. But complete the circuit and they want to move electrons so they move to the negative charged side (less electrons).
😂😂
@@world8805 I know but how do the electrons "know" the circuit was suddenly closed? Force is a very elusive term - I understand things in terms of wave propagation but most tutorial videos work in such abstract terms as forces and often even use terms like "zero at infinity" which we know does not exist in reality and is just a concept - I would love to understand how it actually works, the dynamics, voltage is just a concept, but where the information about the voltage is stored in the piece of cable?? there are just metal atoms with free electrons - so where is the voltage under microscope?
Literally made me understand voltage in less than 2 seconds while I struggled to understand it after 2 weeks of physics lessons.
you're lucky , I still don't understand , he is talking too fast
@@tunkunrunkbasically, voltage is the thing that pushes electron to move forward, and current is just measuring how much electron is being pushed by the voltage
@@solitudewh739 wow !! thanks . So , can we replace for instance a 3.7 v 2000 A battery with a 3.7v 3000 A ? same voltage different amps
@@tunkunrunk It's "easy" to explain, if the explanation is actually wrong. (Actually, voltage is like altitude, but using electrostatic forces rather than gravity forces.)
And, when you get to college, if you believed the explanation in this video, you'll fail your physics-exam questions (maybe just one, if you're lucky.)
Voltage is not potential energy. Voltage is something called "potentials," with little relation to energy.
THINK: several different capacitors can all have the same voltage, yet different stored energy. THINK: if voltage is really just energy, why do we need "Volts" at all? Why not just use joules?
Where is the specific flaw here? Well, when we divide energy by charge, *it's not energy anymore.* It turns into something weird, something called "Potentials." With a water-height analogy, voltage is like the height of the water, NOT the potential energy stored in the water. We can even remove all the water, so the energy is zero, *yet the height is still there.* The taller the water tank, the higher is the voltage, even if the water is removed and the Potential Energy is zero. Voltage and potential energy are two completely different things.
Or, if our analogy involves lifting boulders, then voltage is the altitude through which we lifted the boulder. Different size boulders give us different amounts of potential energy, even while the voltage (the altitude,) stays the same. (And, if someone tries to convince you that altitude is a form of energy, you'd better be suspicious.)
But what is voltage, REALLY?
Here's the simplest explanation: voltage is a way to describe e-fields. Voltage is something like flux, like "force lines," but where voltage is at 90deg to the flux, and voltage appears as thin membranes, not as thin fibers. Voltage appears wherever fields appear, and patterns of pure voltage can exist in empty space. Wherever we have fields and flux, we also have invisible sheets made from "Potentials." Magnetism potentials. G-potentials. The E-potentials are called "voltage."
Even simpler: there is no such thing as "static electricity," even though Electrostatics certainly exists. Electrostatics is the science of capacitors and surface-charge ...and high voltage. When dealing with Electrostatics, we're dealing with high voltage at zero current. Really, we've mistaken the voltage for the "static." When you touch a VandeGraaff generator, and your hair stands up, your hair is showing the shape of the invisible e-field. And that invisible e-field is made of pure voltage, a voltage with no current.
😢Leviticus 18:22 KJV
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Ephesians 6:10-18 says, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. The bible is no old book. You have to really let Christ open your eyes; to see the world in shambles. Many people say it's a religion to lock up people in chains, and say it's a rule book.. why? Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. Breaking your sins into pieces... Repent now, and turn back to the true Lord only.. God bless.

its taught not thought you deserve to fail
goes to show the quality of education system
I am a 3rd-year computer engineering student and I still don't understand the difference between voltage and current. Now I fully understand the difference thanks to your simple and clear explanation.
bro am a second year electrical student with the same problem 😂😂 but now i tottally understand
i've been working as electrical engineer for 4 years, i heard people talking about "valt" and "wattage" a lot but this is the first time I understand what they really is, this video rocks!
This video is wrong they explain it to electricians like this but engineers get told the truth. Electrons don’t flow energy is passed through magnetic fields surrounding the wire.
And I'm a first year engineering student, and now I finally think I understand voltage.
3rd year Electrical Engineer student here to freshen up....lol. Short, sweet, and to the point. Many thanks.
I clicked on this thinking it was a joke video, but ended up gaining valuable info, thanks man!
what a video man!! best explanation ever. Ive always been overthinking electricity but the more I learn the more I realise how simple it actually can be if you just snap it.
MashAllah
very good explanation
JazakAllah ❤
wow, that served my 20 years wonder
So useful for my exams
@iris ligtenbarg wdym by that?
actual it is usefull
i want to talk to you
@iris ligtenbarg I hope that you’re joking because if you’re not then firstly wtf are you doing on this video and secondly you’re one of these stupid girls who spam these emojis
I am studying resting membrane potential in neurons and this helped a lot to understand what's going on there. Thanks a bunch!
This is really helpful. my teacher always says "it's the difference in electric potential energy between two points" but I didn't really know what that exactly meant, or how it related to a real circuit.
I wish I had a teacher like you in my school. Now, I understand in 3 mins what my Physics teacher is still trying to teach me for ages! Thanks a million!
i snort craxk
Why less subscriber u deserve more
He must have teach in understanding manner not book to book
Beautiful explanation! Thank you for taking the time to create the video.
As a mechanical minded person this related it to gravity and potential energy in electric terms. Easy and done. Wow thank you
Short, helpful, and simple. Thank you so much
Thanks a lot for the explanation. I finally understand the difference between voltage and current.
Awesome explanation. Thank you
Youe explanation shows both enthusiasm & interest. Somewhere in the past I was told that voltage is push... current is movement of energy? It was years ago lol I think when you see this explanation you sort of understand the difference between doing something and knowing it well and accurately.
Thank You.
Excellent teaching. Good example. All thumbs up to you man
Mind blowing! At last I got it! Thanks!
AMAZING explanation you earned yourself a new sub
Such a simple and great video to help me understand bioelectricity.
Hello, I bought an EverStart Jump Starter and Power Supply. It has 3 USB ports but also a regular household current plug. It says it's1200A jump start and 500W AC power. If I want to run a device (electric grain grinder) using the plug, and the grinder is rated at 10.5 amps, will this device run it?
I just had explosive diarrhea on the toilet after eating a chinese takeaway curry and stumbled across this video at 3am sitting on the toilet in pain. I now understand the concept of voltage and current. Beautifuly made video. Thank you
Thankful this video existed
I only got it after the example of a circuit with current but no voltage so I am grateful for the secondary explanation.
Thanks for simple explanation, could not understand from other videos, helped me a lot
I finally understood the voltage 😭.
thank you so much .
Me too🙂
In AC power, current continue to flow without a losing any energy whereas voltage drops during a complete cycle? Why is that, I've thought of a scenario that if you replace the tank (potential energy) at the top of the platform with a strait pipe every time the voltage energy difference drops to zero with the water still flowing (current) and then swap back to the tank when the energy difference level is rising similar to a flow of a wave chart.
With the current still flowing does that mean there is energy still available through the current? Because if the is a negative energy potential then there has to be a positive energy potential to somewhere to assist the continuous current flow. Please help me understand
Spot on thank you very much for the elaborative video!
Thank you, great explanation!
A brilliantly simple explanation. Thank you.
Is the potential of a charge the energy of attracting other charges or its kinetic energy? Is the electron potential negative? What is the difference between positive and negative potential?
Wow! You saved my life! Thank you :)
Thank you so much for the explanation.
Fantastic video, wish I had it when I was in High School
Amazing :) Verry useful explanation !
Best explanation I could find
Awesome explanation!
So helpful. I can do .... Thanks guy.
Very good explanation!
Useful article
Is Voltage the difference between the amount of electrons between the + and - side of the battery? Like when the battery is charged there's a lot of electrons on one side of the battery. When you close the circuit the electrons flow from the full side to the empty side. That means that when the battery is used, it's voltage drops. Am I understanding it correctly?
Thanks for a clear explanation to electrical reasoning of any kind.
It is one of those ( KEPT SECRET )
skill sets which boggles many peoples minds, even if they are professionals.
For me, the hardest thing to fully grasp is the ohms law, because they have screwed it up with to many words that dont work togather for good definable understanding, and my Cousin is the inventor of the computer chip, so....
Thanks for a strait forward, easy to understanding explanation, its meaningful for all of us I'm shure. Ok, peace.
Well explained and nice visuals
The water tank analogy is great. Easy to understand thanks for teaching us
Thank you SO MUCH! I have seen the liiiiiiiight!
Excellent explaination
Great video sir
Omg thank you so much this was so helpful!
awesome thank you why you didn't mention about resitence?
No comment. High quality animation
School: This is Voltage, this is Current, write it down and keep quiet.
Marvellous explained
Voltage is the pressure required to move electrons through a circuit. Amperage is the actual amount of electrons moving through a circuit.
Finally an explanation I can relate to. I like the water tank demonstration and explanations after. Thanks
FINALLY, a video that explains it really well
Very good explanation sir
Beautiful thank you!
When what's the watt?
The way I think is that the tank is the watt, and pump's the voltage. Would that be more accurate?
What a clear simple explanation LIFE safer w
Thankyou this was super helpful
It makes so much more sense now.
0:53. Why didn’t the voltage change when you changed the size of the left-pipe current?
This is so helpful, thank you so much!
Super explaination
the battery example at the end is great
Finally I've found this vid, you saved my brain from panicking.
what the?????????? explained very well.....on to the next
Explained so easily! Love from UAE 🇦🇪! (I’m not from UAE)
Hello
This was so easy to understand
I wish this water tank example was used more.
Thank you so much!
Finally, l know what is the difference between voltage and current , thank you man.
You just told me my whole lesson i have been learning for 2 months
I wish i discovered this earlier
Thank you for this really clear explanation!
great channel
Hello, learned a lot from this short conciae video. Thanks. Keep educating
Correct physical, explanation
Thank you!
Lovely. Thank you :)
What pushes the electrons? if voltage increased wouldnt current as well?
If you do not understand, let me try to help.
You could see Voltage and Current as cause and effect.
It starts with a voltage.
Closing that potential with some value of resistance (wires, components) leaves you with some amount of current
A 1.5V battery can produce 2 amps of current if shorted with a wire, but putting your tongue in series to this wire wont electrocute you. (Tongue has more resistance so current would be limited)
Touching city AC in series will result in higher currents that can be fatal, unless the current is limited by resistance.
thanks so much man !
Thank you so much
@2:41 if the battery were 3V instead of 1.5 would the current be doubled?
So, maybe the bigger the device the more voltage from a power source it will require?
well explained
What is voltage made of though?
I'm studying btech and now I got to know 😂
Bade heavy driver ho bhai
😂😂kese?
Thanks you explained it in layman's term
Very good video
Which is more dangerous, X unit Voltage or X unit Current?
finally after 45 years someone explained it so my small brain can understand... if only someone showed me this when i was a kid, my life would be completely different... aaah
Thank you sooooo much
But how is it that some devices draw more current than other devices connected to the circuit even though the voltage source is fixed? for example when we short circuit, the amount of current keeps increasing (reaches infinity if there is no fuse) even though we have a 10v source?
@Thaer K.
Voltage is just the difference of potential energy of the charges. So if voltage is 10V and there is no resistance in this case if at once there are 20 positive charges and and 10 negative charges there will be a difference in the energies of two terminals because wire would have a smaller resistance which will dissipate energy to small extent..
And if at another time of observation there are 40 positive charges reached at positive terminal there will be 20 negative charges at negative terminal the potential difference would be increased between the component(load) and current will also increase beyond the limit of load and will cause short circuit.. But voltage source has fixed Voltage..
This means that source only regulates the flow of charges it don't tells the potential difference across terminals of load..
There always remains potential energy difference in circuit due to the resistance of wire causing steady current flow..
Perfect.
And current is measurement in Amperes right ?
so how do u increase the voltage in a battery?
very
nice
