  • Lady Elliot Island is a coral within the Capricorn Bunker group of island, which includes Heron and Lady Musgrave island.
The island is situated in the middle of a 'Green zone' which offers it full protection both on land and the reefs surrounding the island.
The marine life here is some of the healthiest I have seen.
Most people visit for the chance to see mantas, but there is so much more to experience on every dive.

Looks like a skull at 1.58. DNR is action. I haven't seen Patman for a long time!

Very nice! You're still using the AOI UWL-03? I'm really debating getting it and wonder if the difference it makes is really that great? I've seen some videos where you can see the reflection of the lens in the shot if you are shooting into sun too. Ever experienced that? Tough decision on whether to get it or not!

Hi, yes I am still using the AOI UWL03 and I am finding a very versatile lens. It's ability to focus closer and still keep a good perspective with the shot is great, keep in mind that the GoPro needs to be in Linear, not wide. It was and is my intention to use this as a secondary setup to go with something with better capacity and optics, but to be honest I am finding the results that come out of it is great. Re reflections, you will get reflections and flair in even the best set up, it all depends on how you position yourself to the ambient/sunlight. These sensors are still not really designed for that kind of shooting. The one bit of advice would be to always that the lens off once in the water a shake it to get rid of ant bubbles that might get trapped. Nothing worse than seeing a blurry blob creeping around in the footage.

@@peternicholas_bluewaterimages Thanks for the info! Did you mean that the GoPro has to be in wide, not linear. That's what I've heard, that it has to be in wide. It's ability to focus might just be the sell for me because I've seen some very crisp shots with it. So when you're in the water, you remove the lens, shake it around then put the lens back on? So you're filling up the space between the GoPro and the lens with water? Hopefully there would be no sediment or anything that gets in between the GoPro and the lens. Love the videos! So beautiful. The ocean is just a magical place.

That drone shot at the end is breathtaking. What a wonderful world.

@@dinnersat630 I set mine on Linear, this is because it gives a more cinema graphic look. With less distortion on the edges. The wet lens angle is 108 degrees so still wide enough but aspect is much nicer. If you end up with sediment between the lens and camera then the water is way too dirty to dive in in 🤣.The drone shot is credited to the guy who supplied it to me at the end of the video if you want to see more of his work.

@@peternicholas_bluewaterimages I would love to see more! It's hard to not want to buy a drone when you see shots like that. That's really interesting about shooting in linear with it. I heard you can only shoot wide with it so it really just comes down to experimenting and figuring out what works for you and what you like the look of. I dive a fair bit in summer and sometimes the water is full of what we like to call "whale snot" haha. As long as I'm in the water I'm happy though.
