I've had mine for nearly 30 years. There are 2 tricks to this amp that will turn it into a sweep and shredmasters low budget fantasy. 1, put a graphic EQ on the effects loop, Usually a 7 is good but really, no more than 10. You cut the highest treble to get rid of the swooshing and "static" sound caused by the extreme even upper order harmonics. 2, use a pedal on the lead channel that has 10 tons of volume, rather than dirty gain, set the amp on 3 or 4 and use bruit force volume to drive it deep into clipping. The EQ resolves the lack of a proper midrange control so you can scoop more mids out or add if you prefer, it will emulate really any cabinet out there with the right settings, and the high volume pedal for overdrive greatly cleans up the distortion so you actually have note separation and definition. *I have a formal background in electrical/electronics engineering, so mine is modified to the max electrically.* Basically, adding permanently internally what I said to do externally.
Very solid head (no pun intended) !! Just got myself one for 70$ off a thrift store and honestly, very great head to have around !! Great As a backup/mess around head to own. I do don’t see why people hate these heads, I get their cabinets were terrible but the amp itself is super good and honestly one of those “great built/low cost” amps to own in your collection !!
