I remember this amp so well. The guys in my youth group thought they were the greatest thing, and honestly for their budget and the music they were playing it checked the boxes. I love this video for the great memories it stirs. Thanks so much!

I bought one of these brand new. I still have it and it's mint condition today. To me, it sounds GREAT! Hell no I'm not ever getting rid of it. It's a heavy tank to lug around, but I'm not gigging with it and I enjoy playing through it. Yes, there are a lot better amps out there today but damn if this isn't some kick ass bang-for-the-buck. Loud af and well... LOUD AF. Nuff said.

I just purchased the GFX212 for 30 bucks 2 weeks ago. The gain on channel 2 is crazy, plus you can shape into an endless amount of different tones. Now I'm on a mission to find the foot switch.

i got the amp and still got the foot switch... its a 3 button set up. the 1st switch goes from clean channel to 1st gain channel.its a latching switch .
the 2nd switch goes from gain-1 to gain-2 latching switch.
the 3rd switch is for DSP on/off. uses a latching switch.
its uses 2 cables, one is TR/mono and the other is for DSP & L.E.D.'s
      its a TRS/stereo.
      good luck.

I picked up a few of these Crate GT / GX 2x12 combo amps from pawn shops over the years and they all sounded great to my ear. I think chorus and reverb were about as far as the effects went on the ones I had though. Having enough volume to play with a drummer and a really gnarly distortion tone with a fat chug on the bottom end were the only things I cared about at the time to be honest and these amps fully delivered in those areas without a doubt. They're perfect for anyone who's mainly focused on hardcore, punk and / or metal, definitely my go-to amplification back in the day. They might be a one trick pony, but they really do shine in that particular area.

I have never sold or px’d a piece of guitar equipment in 25-ish years of playing. I’ve given away a couple of guitars to friends and family who have had to sell theirs to cover bills. Still got my Crate GX-15R, Marshall VS100RH, 6100 30th Anniversary & 1936 cab sat in the wardrobe. Current go to amps are a pair of SJB Audio Ants (handmade by a bloke here in the U.K. in the ‘90s).

Awesome. I quit playing after my parents died. Ten years later, last year, 2020, the year of covid, I decided I wanted to get back into it. I had sold everything I used to have. There was no getting my half stacks back. A marshall and a randall. I loved the Randall becuase of my name. Anyway, several people just gave three of my guitars back to me. Someone have me my foster recorder back. My sister gave me a focusrite and a nice mic. A mixer. Friends started buying me stomp boxes. Almost everything I have now is becuase someone wanted me to play again. But I didnt have an amp. Those stimulus checks came. I had problems I had to deal with and i wanted a half stack but I coudlnt waste 500 on one. I was going to fhe pawn shop the next day and that night i was thinking, it would be awesome to run into an old crate with 2 twelve inchers in it. Becuase they are reasonable priced and loud enough I can play with others if I need to. I didnt want to get stuck with a tiny practice amp but I had to get what was available. I walk into the pawnshop and I see a crate gx 212 and I said it must be a sign from god. It was actually the biggest amp they had that day. They had a head but no cabinet and most stuff in there they price higher than it would cost if it was new. It had all kinds of cables in the back. I didnt even think. I just grabbed if and took it to the counter and asked how much. She said 100 dollars because she didnt think it worked. I took the gamble becuase I could take it back if it didnt. It wasnt the amp, it was the cable, which I fixed. I covered the grill with new fabric and used a bottle of black leather dye on the amp and it looks like brand new. I use stomp boxes and effects so I didnt care what the amp had. Sounds awesome . People give them crap buy mine works awesome. I fix electronics so I could have habe fixed it of had been messed up. I built my own guitar from fender parts. I'm getting into building pedals and I'm thinking of trying to biuld a tube preamp. I think my amo is from the 90s though. I'm not sure but it's not a 120 watt. It's a 200 watt. But I like that balls to the wall distortion. Its perfect for me. Not to small and not to big. I uses to have two fender tube amps and s Gibson tube amp but I lost them in a flood. Wish I knew then whay I know now. I could have probably saved them. Breaks my heart. They were the really old ones to. Belonged to some old men I know when they were young. They gave them to me when I was a teen. My first amp was a 15 watt stone amp. I made a mini stack from car stereo speakers and speaker boxes. Hahahaha wish I had it to. But I'm not doing to bad. I get sick of all the snobbery but I guess it goes with the territory. Like what you own defines your talent. I'd still like to have one of those marshal my half stacks. Good enough for me. Low maintenance. And I love my epiphones. I have a Gibson j50 though. Still love my epiphines . I have a sammick malibu and I woud pit if agaisnt any guitar. Really well made to be so cheap. Got it for a 100. And I have an ESP from the 80 with a floyd rose. It belonged to bd a friend in highschool. It was strat style with HSS. In shop class he took a band saw to it and cut it to look like a warlock .that was in the 90s. Couple years ago I ran across it and saved it. Sanded it down and restored it. I put the pickups in the strat I built and put 3 mini rail humbuckers in it. So I have an ESP warlock with floyd rose and minibuckers . My highschool guitar got lost in the flood also. An episode sg400. Now I love to mod things. I've been making treble bleeds and installing them on my guitars but my next project is to biuld my own way pedal. Thanks for thevideo. ..

Over look the typos. I meant my fostex recorder. Autocorrect. I paid nearly 400 for it when I bought it. Now people give them crap to and you can buy them used for 100. But, it gets the job done. Wish I had it years ago. The older men used to gather every weekend and play bluegrass at my house. At the time, I didnt appreciate it. But I alwasy wanted to record more than I wanted to play. I wish I had it then or they were here now. I could have made them famous. True pros. But mainly, I woudl have liked to saved their music. I think of how many times they must have played in theri lives and it all just vanished in the wind. I did record them once using windows 98 and an old computer mic hanging in the middle of the room. Picked up the music perfect but not the singing. They did a version of Where Corn Dont Grow that would make you tear up. Thats the advantage of a multi track recorder and a few mics. But I'm rambling. Cool video. Thought your music was awesome. I still play like that buf like you, I've moved into a little more easy listening because it's what the people want. I do still play it hard and loud sometimes though. There is no feeling like the feeling you get when your playing with other people and the zone kicks in. The hair on the back of your neck stands up and it's like something else takes over. It's not even you playing. It's one of the best highs their is. I would like to feel it at least one more time.
