Im printer is still stuck on preparing printer for days now. It's located my printer, but it's not prepared. I've called the cable company, and they've conducted extensive troubleshooting on their end srill my printer won't acknowledge my router password. Im sick to my stomach, as I neeeeed this printer to work. My warranty expired a year ago, HP can't help me either.
Hi, plz try to unplug printer for 5 minutes. Move printer near the router to get strong signal. Then plug in power cable. Run the WiFi setup and for wifi setup just watch my video. That should help you to connect the printer. If that fails due to password error then run WPS setup for this printer. Hope that fix the issue.
@CopyPrintScanChannel I've done all of that more times than I can count. I've considered myself more tech-savvy than most. I've never had to call HP, but I did. My warranty expired a year ago. I had to pay for them to troubleshoot and run a diagnostic by taking over my computer from his end. I was on the phone with that man for 2 hours with my android that refused to connect. He was so frustrated himself. He asked if anybody had an iPhone, and maybe we could connect using an iPhone instead. I told him my son did, and my son wasn't able to connect before. But, he was able to connect yesterday. Now, through the iPhone, I was able to connect my Mac Pro, but the android still refuses to connect. I've updated the android, turned it off, and still had no luck. I've been at this since I changed the router. 2 months ago. I should've just paid HP then, maybe I wouldn't have gone through so much trouble. Watching your video, it helped me to see that I wasn't doing anything wrong. I just needed an iPhone to reinitiate the startup. I still refuse to buy an iPhone, though. Im just so elated now that I can print!!!🤸🏾♀️
Thank you! We got a new internet provider, therefore no printer connection, and the simple act of holding the round button for 3 seconds was a lifesaver! I didn’t even know that little button was there.

Still no joy for me... Laptop too old to connect, phone is samsung, newish and recognises the printer inside the HP Smart App but i cant seem to get past the wifi set up. App connected to printer but set up never progresses... restarted 8 times...no luck. Would an ethernet cable help instead?

I spent hours working on this!! I changed my internet vendor and the HP would not forget the old wifi. I even called HP Support. Not once did they give me these instructions. I knew the power button was there, but would have sworn their was no wifi button. I kept hitting the one on the front of the computer! Great video. My employer was ready to buy me another printer/scanner instead of calling our IT Support (that charge by the hour). Thanks!

@wandahodges7311 Yes. I had to contact HP, which they told me that my warranty expired a year ago. I had to pay like $50 something to extend the warranty for a month. They were able to assist me after being on the phone for like 2hrs. I hated that. But, it was worth it because I am now able to print!! It took way longer than I anticipated!

It may show HP6400 series. If nothing appears then just move printer near router and try after few hours.
