The shop looks great. Now about that Texas size mouse....I’m impressed that you used a Have a Heart trap to catch him. But then again you maid friends with birds while sailing. With all your talents I would have expected that you would 3D print a catapult that would automatically launch the little critter into the next county. Outdoor Spa, guest suite and all who could resist coming to spend a week to help you with projects!
Dam I like the sailing stuff but It's so cool to watch the fixing up of the old place you bought, I think your onto somethin here that resonates with people!!
Almost 3k views at 11pm on a Sunday! Your the man SAM. Please do us all a favor. Keep smiling! You helped me though some of my chemo and radiation appointments this past year! I dream of one day sailing from DE down the Atlantic to the keys. Be good. Life is short!
I'm so jealous of that shop...such an awesome space! Great job outfitting it and sharing all the cool things you're doing aside from sailboat stuff. A+
IKR! My "shop" is about 7 foot of our garage. Hardly big enough to turn around in with my work bench and tools. I'd love a shop like that! The sleeping quarters and bathrooms - not so much
Man, I hope your shop was warmer than 45deg for most of the winter. you seem like the kinda guy who'd be all over woodstove. Maybe you can convert one of those toilets into one.
Hmmm ! I'm seeing an opportunity for a future, do it yourself, sailboat ⛵ repair yard. Follow your dreams Sam ! Thanks for sharing your extraordinary adventures with us !
I am still a huge fan of your "Keep it Super Simple" build mantra. You see an opportunity to improve something, and you do it. No contacting the manufacturer, no going into the boatyard to hire it out. You simply do it. That is what I want my own kids to live like. Thank you for sharing that spirit and demystifying sailing!
Nice work!! You really swung into action with all those projects!! Your workshop looks great now. I would have put in a proper bathroom with toilet & shower (inside); if you ever sell, buyers will expect that; or you might be able to rent your studio while you're away sailing, have somebody keep an eye on the place. Do you have room for a kitchen: stove/sink/fridge?? That was super nice of Joe to put in the garage door for you. You're all set now for boat projects, boat repairs, and shipwright operations!!
It just shows what can be achieved with a bit of application, patience and commitment. Being smart and able to teach yourself new skills is a bonus. Having the income to afford the materials and other costs is also essential. But above all, having a super positive attitude like Sam is the key to progress and overcoming challenges. Long may you run.
I was really close to buying a house, but a garage workshop is such a great idea. Especially if you're planning on making a jump to living on the water. You're really inspiring me Sam!
Amazing! So much fun to see all of this work strung together in one tidy video. And don't forgot, while all THAT was going on Sam also got boatloads done on the pickle AND had a pretty intense surgery.
With the shop vacuum, I have a 30ft pool vacuum hose that was used to clean pools. I keep the shop vacuum outdoors, keeps the dust out. You would probably use PVC pipe and make a central system. The place is looking great!
Looks great Sam. I'm in Colorado. I've torn two roofs off myself - I'm guessing you have asphalt shingles. I hate them. I went with steel. Its fast and looks great.
My garage has a roof that’s in pretty poor condition. What worked for us was getting a couple large tarps and holding them down with planks of wood to prevent air from catching underneath. Keeps the water out and has survived all weather so far. Plus it’s cheaper than completely rebuilding the roof!
I'm so psyched for you and the excellent progress! Was starting to wonder how much time you'd be working on the boat vs. hauling toilets to the dump...
Sorry to hear someone broke into your workshop... f**kers! Loving the progress on the building... the workshop is so interesting it could also be a series, as I think your viewers are enjoying the repairs and updates you are getting done.
Nicely done!!! The Wife and I are ready to retire and we both want out of our 5k square foot house. It's way to big and way too hard to keep up. Were looking at a Barndominium with stained concrete floors and other easy to take care of finishes.
Install a metal roof. In many cases you can place it directly over the old shingle roof. They come in fun colors too. I have hunter green which looks nice on my redwood colored cabin. Your place would look great with a rust red metal roof.
Sam, That is a fine job yyou did bring the shop back to life. You surprise me all the time how you are able to make do without having to spend a lot of money to get it done. I have noticed that on your boat too. Well good luck on your continuing effort on your boat and shop. Oh btw my favorite is TIG welding too.
Cot looks inviting. I will have some free time next month and am handy with tools. I have installed showers, pvc pipe welding, caught rats, etc. Would love the chance to learn stuff from welding to sewing...I got my own boat and want to up my game when it comes to fixes. Let me know if possible.
I went snorkeling for 2 hours in some fairly rough water the other day and got a bit seasick. I'd forgotten about seasickness! I did not puke. While being seasick my brain was cycling a lot of negative thoughts, it was a major bummer. Made me wonder if I could really sail like Sam does?
God bless you guys Drew !!! In JESUS precious name... AMAZING job on the Garage Door... I don't own a home. I live 1000+ miles away. AAAND....I have no garage or money...BUUUT... If I did...I'd hire you for the job...❤🤙💥😬💯💥
You are a jack of all trades, Sam! You are going to be an awesome dad someday, I’d bet on it! I wish that I have some skills to share, because I’d love to meet you and the guest accommodations look like a lot of fun to experience.
Your videos are great to show the what I started with to the what I ended with. The rat part put me on the floor with laughter. Keep killing it, fair winds.
Multi talented Sam u amaze me. Never seems to be anything u wont tackle. Procrastinating is not on your list. Truly inspiring. Amazing editing too Sam. Peace from Len in nor. Cal.

Buys a house with a surplus of toilets, still shits in a bucket
Man I've never seen someone as multi-talented and resourceful as Sam. I could not do more than one of the one hundred things he did in this video.
Yea, he is a fast learner and not afraid to fail.
you know its all a con right?
If you haven't realized that yet... you deserve to work for other people for free.
I'm really impressed and motivated by your attitude, work ethics, and results lol!
Shout out to Drew! What a guy!
Shared honours of MVP for this ep with the mouse granola bar bandito
Thanks! I appreciate the support
Its SO funny that a man that has an ostomy is being bombarded by toilets. I have colitis also man.
The irony wasn't lost on me either.
That workshop is a thing of functional beauty! What a great transformation.

wooden box heated by light bulb genuinely had me in tears 🤣🤣 I can't really say anything against it, it's just hilarious!
Man cave envy!
Keep up the great work Sam. If you ever sail north (Kodiak, AK) I have some salmon with your name on it.
10 thousand toilets, but Sam didn't build any of them from scratch so they all have to go! lol love it, man.
I can't tell you how envious I am of your shop and the purchase of this old garage. What an adventure.
So many toilets!
So many pooping choices
Are you in NY, NJ??

What? Thats a rat? He's huge. The shop is great. I like your roughing it style. The main thing your making progress on your boat and having fun.
Looks like a pack rat to me. Those bad boys are huge and smart.

It usually passes after a few days at sea. One of the early full timers who wrote books about it got deadly seasick but she stuck it out.
Those aren't bees, Sam. Bees are sweet and gentle ladies. Yours are either wasps or yellowjackets.
And that’s not a mouse either
That rat will feed a large bird, hawk or night owl. 😁 Any more rat problems Mother Nature will take of
wasps. Yellow Jackets are the worst mother fuckers below killer-bees. BTW, I can tell you how to kill yellowjackets... Just ask.

Wow. Looking great.
I love the fact you have a Zyliss. Not many know how cool they are
I agree they are cool vices!
