    What reason not to bid 1S instead of 1NT here? If north has four spades and short clubs you'll go down in 3NT

    If playing IMPs or rubber bridge playing on the majors guarantees 9 tricks. 3D 3H 2S 1C. At match points playing C for 4 winners and a possible overtrick makes sense.
